My top two are the Wayfare and the Target Good Foods Queso. It seems like good vegan cheese spreads are much easier to achieve than actual cheese imposters because they don't have to overcome the texture challenge. I agree about Kite Hill. I really want to like their products because they're a legacy vegan brand, but every Kite Hill product I've tried just kind of sucks. 😟
The Miyoko's is not a dip it's a spread like with a knife. It's great to add to sauces or dips as flavoring. I have used it on grilled cheese and quesadillas with some shredds or slices.
I actually LOVE the Kite Hill one lol. I got one to try, loved it so much I bought 4 lol. Honestly it must be a matter of taste because even with my picky husband he loved it. And I’ve made both your cheez sauces and agree…way better lol!!!
My fiance just called me on facetime while I was watching this video and he was like: "how can you just watch people sit there and eat without moving around - don't you get bored?", to which I replied: "HECK NO!!". Honestly guys, you're such an inspiration, not only as content creators, but as a couple as well. You always radiate kindness and I love watching your cute and funny banters, while also learning about new vegan products on the market. Your recipes are bomb too!! And no video will ever be too long for me. I can only hope my future husband and I will have as much success and happiness in our lives as the two of you do. Sending lot's of vegan love // Andreas
Good foods brand is available in several stores besides Target. I think Sprouts even carries some of their products. I’ve heard that Costco carries their Queso as well.
Also, I know this would be not be what you usually post on your channel but I would live to see a compilation of you guys reactions to not so good vegan products. That would be hilarious.
Siete is our favorite. I didn't know 365 and Target had their own. We'll def check them out. Just found out one mom & pop in our area now carries Wayfare. So, excites to try their products. Thanks again for the review!
Hi there, thank you for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed our Queso! We are available at other locations beyond Target as well as on our website. P.S. Target's in-house brand is Good & Gather 😉
I'm not a big "cheese dip" person, and when I do have it I make my own. That being said, I LOVE the Good Foods (Target) buffalo dipping sauce, so I would definitely try that one first. Also, still no Wayfare out here in Texas. 😕
I really appreciate the fact that you mention popular allergen ingredients in the products! As someone who tries to eat vegan, but has a soy and nut allergy it is pretty much impossible to eat fully vegan. It is nice seeing other food options I might have! Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this! I am fully plant-based but leaning towards the vegan side. But I just can’t give up the cheese and I haven’t found one that I would like. But I have tried the Siete cashew and I kind a like it, but I wasn’t in love with it.
Violife mature cheddar and their Mexican cheese shreds are really great! I’ve been vegetarian for 8 years, and decided recently to take the next step towards vegan, currently I’m on the hunt for vegan cheeses, egg, and the best plant milk, but I’m also trying to figure out how to make all of these higher in protein, as vegan cheese has none, and most plant Milks don’t have a ton either. Violife is my favorite so far, and I found good karma’s flax seed milk, high in protein, but have yet to try it
Could you do a video on the Miyoko's cheese wheels? I am curious about those cheeses and wonder what the texture and flavors are like. I think you guys do really in-depth reviews.
Thank you for this. I am going to have to look for Wayfare being only three months into my vegan journey. And I really like the Miyokos one so I am looking forward to trying something else. (also I found the Miyokos Roadhouse cheddar tastes better cold than warm I have no idea why this is.)
I just love when you all give reviews. This Wayfare cheese is absolutely the best. I Ordered it from their website because of course we don’t have it where I live, but it was worth it. My kiddos said it tasted like real cheese. ❤️
Thanks folks. I'm snowed in in the NC mountains and this is a perfect video for today (and all days) . Hey Andrew, fyi it's really hard for us to see your eyes with the cap on. I appreciate seeing folks' eyes, they communicate a lot for me. Oh I loved the "doesn't taste like Queso, doesn't even taste like food" !!
I haven’t tried all of these. I eat the Miyokos Smokehouse Cheddar with pretzel chips. I’ve tried it with a lot of things but REALLY good with pretzels. This is my FAVORITE vegan find! I also really love their butter of all that I’ve tried.
I've heard people call it the Superb Owl. Ha! I never buy any of these, because you can make your own easily, but I have wondered about them. Was really worried because these wonderful companies' processed cheese type products really vary in, uh, taste, but you handled it like champs! Will scout out the better ones! Thanks for posting : )
I have had almost all of these cheeses & wayfare is really good. I especially love wayfare sour cream. But I also like the kite hill queso I have not had a batch that taste like perfume yet & none of my friends or family members have noticed a perfume taste. I agree the siesta quesos are more of a dip type. The only one I have not tried is the target brand. Thanks for the taste tests we appreciate it.
I think Kroger's carries "Wayfare" products but they are labeled under their store brand name "Simple Truth". I recognized the unique shape of the tub lid and compared the ingredients. They are exactly the same. I agree with you guys. I love their products!
It's not a cheese dip but Hope brand roasted red pepper almond dip is WONDERFUL!! I came across it in Aldi in the stuff we will never have again section of the fridge and I am so sad that it doesn't seem to exist anywhere in South Jersey.
The best nacho dip is homemade. Boil carrots potato and cashews and onions. Drain and add roasted canned red bell peppers and canned pickled jalapenos, nutritional yeast and plain saukraut juice, salt and paprika. Blend it all up ‘till smooth and creamy. Mind blowingly good. Siete white queso flavor is good except the texture is too grainy. I love the Miyokos Road House Cheddar. Taste like real sharp cheddar cheese. I want to make a fondue with it for homemade soft pretzels soon…it is not a dip ..It is more of a spread but something tells me it will be good as beer fondue for soft pretzels. I just popped over to the website. Imma have to try out your nacho sauce recipe now too!
I love the target one it’s a good size container for the price. But for some reason it reminds me of hummus before it’s heated up. I still like it though and buy it often.
The first vegan cheese I ever tasted was Wayfare. I was with non-vegan friends. We spread the cheese on fresh rosemary sourdought and OMG!!!! Everyone's mind was blown!!!
I agree that the Kite Hill one is gross (though I love their chive and vegetable cream cheeses as dips). I love the Miyoko’s one; to me it tastes like the inside of cheddar cheese combos. Wondering where the Trader Joe’s queso would fall in your ranking. Credo is another brand and that one is pretty good. Wish Wayfare was on the west coast!
The siete foods white queso 🤤 sooo good, I put it on nachos with vegan ground and refried beans. I buy it when im to lazy to make your bean based one. Only one I've loved homemade! Hate the potato carrot based ones.
Siete was definitely the best hands down it was the closest to real cheese for me , can y’all do vegan Valentine’s Day dinner ideas I haven’t found any good videos with this idea
I have an idea for a taste test... try some of the top recipes and compare them against your own? And you could have your kids give them to you so it's kind of "blind"?
I love the honest stand cheese sauces. I love their limited ingredient list and how the add that special flavor to my toastadas. Get the spicy nacho one next time
I know that “target” queso is available at Costco cuz that’s where I’ve gotten it. I really enjoy that one! But I also haven’t tried any of the others lol
I beg to differ on the kite Hill. You have to heat it up, not meant to eat cold. It’s creamy and cheesy just like a nacho cheese dip is supposed to be.
I love this video! Do you have any suggestions on vegan cheese brands or recipes to cook with? This is the one area I can't break but I want to so badly.
I think the milk goes ferments all of their cheeses and that's where you get that sharp flavor could be wrong, I also feel like kite Hill is hit and miss where if their products have gone bad or not I don't know if it's their fault or the people you know the vendors that buy them and don't maybe keep them refrigerated not quite sure on that but I do like kite Hill most everything
I really wanted to like the Wayfare brand, but I didn’t like the taste. It reminded me the childhood snack crackers with the cheese section that came with the red stick lol I’m a fan of the Siete brand.
Vegan cheese already existed in the 90's also called fake cheese. It was the cheapest cheese availible in the supermarket. Altough the fake cheese is much more improved because of better ingredients. I believe it is still much cheaper to make than real cheese. But because they put a Vegan Label on it. They can sell it for much higher price.
Simple Truth Organic has a great cauliflower queso that has almonds instead of cashews. I can't eat cashews. They contain the same toxin as is in poison oak, a lot of prople are sensitive to it. I use it to make vegan spicy potato tacos, like the ones from Taco Bell. I use diced Simply Potatoes, and Simple Truth Organic taco seasoning.
The wayfair natcho is hot! I liked the flavor but just a bit too much heat for me. I will look for the cheddar next time I am in Moms organic market. I make mine usually with Violife shredded and plain almond milk. Takes a minute.
i've been trying to find a good premade queso dip but for some reason all of the quesos i've tried have a weird tomatoey flavor. i understand like small chunks but not blended into the sauce.
I'm so confused by your experience with Kite Hill. My husband and I love it, and it's honestly one of the best queso's. He prefers it over dairy ones. Absolutely NO perfume or weird flavoring. I'm speculating you got a bad batch, because Kite Hill always has bad batches. When I bought the Queso, I bought it that day, opened it that day, and the next day there was already mold. Wayfare used to have a spicy cheddar and it reminded my husband and I of the cheddar sauce you get at like the movie theater or like 7Eleven. It used to be our favorite, but we haven't found the spicy flavor.
