What he said about chickens going from 12 eggs a year to 300 would be similar to a human having her period for 28 days a month. (Actually a direct math change would be even worse.) Yikes. I would not wish that upon any animal or enemy.
Absolute grade A activism right here! So happy to have found this channel. It really gets me motivated to start with my own activism again after having taking some months off. I usually do lectures in schools. Lots of ears and minds in a classroom, where you can inspire, inform and influence up to a 100 students at a time.
Very nicely said and done. She seemed to be very open to veganism and you showed her that even having back yard hens of her own doesn't mean that she should exploit them! Keep speaking up for animals and keep filming it! I love watching it and learning from it
@@steviacandyman7892 Do you not think that the point Steve made about what modern egg laying hens are is important? The fact that they exist at all is due to blatant exploitation. These birds should really be allowed to die out and cease to exist. They are not 'normal' birds. They have been genetically manipulated by humans for hundreds of years from an original bird called the red jungle fowl, by selective breeding. These modern birds - as Steve said in the video - are, all of their shortened lives, constantly producing eggs that they were never designed to produce. Birds don't produce eggs for other species to eat, and we don't need to eat them.
@TuftyVFTA should dogs, using your logic, therefore be allowed to simply due out? Seeing as though the only reason we gave dogs now is due to selective breeding and genetic modification over centuries? Should we let avocados die out? They should have gone extinct thousands of years ago, except for human intervention. Do trees, plants and grasses produce seeds for other species to eat?
Haha thank you! We often get people standing infront of the camera and not sure you can tell in the video but it was like on a hill so the tripod was set for that position haha Appreciate that you appreciated it 😊
@@maxmcintyre5068But you seem mildly obsessed with pointing that out to everyone who did not ask. 😂 It is like you have a bit of a crush on being a vegan.
Wonderful Steve... I've had ducks in the past and I liquidise & feed their eggs (whole eggs shell & all) back to them with their food. I used to give them away as I'd not eat them, but giving them away or selling them is still encouraging others to exploit by making them think it's OK to eat eggs.
I am vegan, but my son and girlfriend are vegetarian, they only eat egg's otherwise they would be vegan. For them it's the taste tho , they won't let me tell them how bad the egg industry is , even though i have tried my best . Some vegetarian's just don't get it .
Indeed the mindset of viewing their eggs as a product is wrong. Well said!💚Also useful to clip the mic to our WTF neck tags, I'll do that too at the next event 😃
@@maxmcintyre5068 Seems like you either didn't watch the video or you just weren't listening. Eggs are another product of exploitation that DOES HURT THE ANIMALS, even if you don't think it does.
This was fantastic! We know she’s got a partner at home who’s not vegan and probably was really enthusiastic about “backyard hens.” That person won’t budge, and she’ll give in or they’ll break up. Seen this dozens of times already.
Thank you for you’re feedback, we just felt this was more friendly like you say and people know who they are listening to rather than having Veganmuscle Thank you so much for all you’re support and have a lovely Christmas 🎄 🌱
I have a friend who used to have chickens in his backyard, and out of curiosity he asked me if it was still unethical for me to eat those eggs. As a response I gave the same reasoning as you, but then he asked me “what if all the nutrient lost were reintegrated into them through a supplement?” to which I didn’t really have an answer. If anyone knows why this would still be unethical please let me know
So I would still say the fact people view animals and what comes out of them as a product is the root of the problem with exploitation of animals, even if they have feed to give them all the nutrients back (it still won’t be the most optimal as giving their own eggs back) but yeah the problem is actual viewing them as a resource for us to take and use. And this why we have factory farms now Hopefully this helps to answer for the next time 😊
Are plants not alive? Living entities? Able to feel? If they are, what makes you value the life of a plant as less valuable than that of a chicken, pig, cow, sheep et al?
@Itsmelandsteve actually that's not quite true is it? There's a fair amount of research and evidence to suggest plant life may indeed have a form of sentience we don't yet fully understand.
Another really nice outreach. ❤ 👍🏻 She's almost their. :) I sometimes wonder how you cope with seeing the cruelty towards animals over and over again. Every time you overlay your videos with the really hard stuff I can't watch. 🥺
What is she keeping the chickens for then? I sense that they may be commodified. She needs to come to terms with that and reconsider her reasons for keeping them.
I aspire to adopt some backyard hens, and throw away their eggs or feed them back to them. Once I can afford an allotment, to give them plenty of space to forage for bugs and seeds. Just giving those lovely ladies a life of comfort without taking anything from them is enough. I don't need eggs loaded with cholesterol, and it's not mine to take.
The only way to resolve this is to breed vegan chickens that lay vegan eggs. The vegan chickens could be bred to a human level of intelligence and fully take over their entire future evolution.
@@albin2232 The humans that have a chicken level of intelligence are fine to exploit, r*pe, commodify & murder tho, right? According to your intelligence-bias comment that your moral compass seems to point, you would approve of disabled people going through what chickens do because they aren't worthy due to intelligence. By the way, chickens are as smart as 3-5 year old children, you would also be saying that about all babies & children that are as intelligent as a chicken & some that always stay that way. Your ethics are really wack, I hope you get help. I feel bad for anyone who comes across you you deem not intelligent enough to be worthy of your empathy or compassion.
None right now, I used to have 8. Had to put them inside the coop every night by hand, one by one. Not sure why they didn't go in when it gets dark like normally. Even though I had 3 roosters, they got along pretty well.
I'm not sure healthy chickens are desperate for their egg's nutrients and that's why they eat the thrown eggs. They go for whatever you throw on the floor. If you just spit on the floor they'll come running and gobble it straight up. Now, if you have a chicken that is calcium deficient, it will lay eggs with a soft shell and it can even eat eggs that are just laying there. And chickens can learn habits so other chickens may learn the habit from watching it, even if they themselves are not deficient in calcium.
They ARE deficient in calcium and nutrients they ARE THEIR eggs and viewing them and the chickens as a product is WRONG there is NO justification for animal exploitation and murder
Chickens lay eggs whether you eat them or not. I have chickens. Who are free and love life. Their eggs are not a moral problem. It is not a form of exploitation!! I used to be a vegan then I woke up. This mentality is ridiculous. It extremism.
What's more extreme - saying no to animal exploitation & following with actions to abstain from it, or saying yes & continuing to exploit animals & not see them as individuals but as objects? Human animals menstruate their eggs whether or not you eat it. Your argument is fallacious & lacking ethical & moral consideration except for that practised by Malzoans* (more details below) Extremism is spreading misinformation to keep exploiting non-human animals & their bodies. Saying no & not participating is absolutely no extreme. What happens when they stop laying eggs around 30 months? Do you rotate for more egg layers & send the ones you can't exploit off to slaughter? How many years do you care for them before they pass away after they can't lay eggs? You keep all of them, every single one, until they are very old, meaning you won't have any that lay eggs. It's the same insane, lie of an argument dairy farmers make. They are proud their baby cows get some of the milk before being r*pe to be forcibly impregnated to keep making milk, & ignore the males are killed immediately or soon after, conveniently forgetting as well as soon as a dairy cow gets around 4-6 they stop/slow milk production & they aren't allowed to keep living until they are 25-30 years old, they are slaughtered to make room for more cows who are producing. Just like chickens. Each time you aren't rescuing non-egg layers & only taking/buying/keeping/caring for active egg laying chickens, you are part of the problem. You eating their eggs instead of letting them have their eggs back is part of the problem. Your moral compass isn't seeing exploitation because it doesn't want to see it, because you are involved in it so directly, you actively are now defending animal exploitation, commodification, & continued objectification of sentient non-human animals. Someone recently came up to me saying how cool it was to see a sheep get shorn & when I said poor sheep, they immediately defended the actions of the human exploiting the animal for entertainment, to desensitize people to active exploitation so they cannot recognize it, & blindly defend instead of thinking about what they were looking at. When I asked did the sheep volunteer, they laughed as if it was a silly thing, & said well no, the guy put the sheep... & after they described being forced into a position they didn't want nor consent to, I asked why she laughed at all when she saw the sheep saying no, crying no, moving to get away, & why was that okay to laugh at? I asked if the sheep started playing after, she said no, it ran to a corner, scared with the others, all huddled with their backs to the crowd, crying, then defending their crying as soon as she said it with but the guy said they just do that & I asked her if she would laugh if it was puppies, or kittens, or children & be so dismissive of them being exploited, shaved, cut all over, scared, their pain & fear a source of entertainment, non-consoled, ignored, & explained that she was entertained & entranced so much she came to talk to two vegans about how excited she was to watch animals get exploited, & she's 67. So it's no wonder you are also disconnected when things like that are made okay when you can choose something else. When you throw the eggs on the ground so they crack for the chickens, they eat their own eggs & need them back, you keep taking them. You are also supporting the forced breeding & exploitation of birds that are so genetically modified instead of laying 10 eggs a year, usually fertilized with a mate & hatched & cared for were it in any sort of 'natural' state, they lay 300. Instead of living to 10-15 years, they often die of egg binding, broken limbs, or at 18 -36 months old when deemed useless because they stop laying eggs & no one wants to keep them for the rest of their lives or pay the vet bills as their bodies deform because they are bred to get as big as possible, as fast as possible, to lay as many as possible, & that if they can't continue to exploit them they are slaughtered. they lay eggs only because you pay to make sure companies exploit their bodies & modify them to lay as many as possible, it stops when you stop taking what they need back. & if they lay more than enough, feed other non-human animals that need it, not yourself who doesn't & it actively harms because it's so high in fat & cholesterol it's illegal to even call them healthy. Your defending taste pleasure with appeal to nature but the chickens aren't naturally laying eggs, they are genetically modified to do so & are so far removed from their ancestors you are just causing more problems by defending/expoiting/continuing to do so. Chickens go nuts for cracked eggs, they eat every bit, shell & all. Give it back to them, & stop exploiting them. Please choose not to be a Malzoan, please choose not to exploit someone else. Malzoan - A person who condones, promotes or actively engages in non-human animal exploitation, r*pe, torture, murder, consumption or commodification. Latin Malus and Greek Zoion; literally a person who is harmful to animals. Malzoism - the philosophy and worldview thereof Antonym: Vegan (ism)
You are 100% correct. Vegans are against animal cruelty....until those animals fuck with their crops. Then they are all for animal deaths. Not just that, but to be a vegan reliant on crops 300 years ago, they would be exploiting horses and ox to pull plows to til the soil. Vegans are nothing but mentally ill hypocrites. Glad to see you woke up.
The "nutrient" point vegans like to raise is very lame. Chickens will desperately jump to any rubbish you throw for them. Nutrients can be easily fulfilled with chicken feed, which has the nutrients they need, as well as leftovers, peels, insects, etc. "Animal selection for exploitation", buying chickens and giving profit to animal exploiters... those are much more reasonable points. But raising your own chickens for eggs is not as morally problematic as the chicken industry.
@@Untillallarefree If the chickens are loved as pets, taken care of, etc. it's an exchange. The definition of exploitation necessarily implicates in suffering, loss, harm, disadvantage, etc. The act itself is not exploitation. What is exploitation is to buy chickens, then you're feeding that kind of business, financing the suffering of more chickens. But if they were obtained in a different way, like rescued, you can't call that exploitation, you are distorting the word definition.
No special nutrient in an egg 🤣🤣 why are the chickens fighting to eat them so much then, they should just eat plants if that’s the case 💀 vegan L as usual plants don’t have over 15 micronutrients
They are THEIR EGGS and they are the ones depleted of the nutrients as they have been selectively bred to lay so many so for THEM they need them nutrients as they have been depleted from THEIR body. Stop abusing animals and go vegan
