probably been said already but by law the staff have to give you the allergen book so you can make the decision - saves them a lot of lawsuits that way! Loved the video otherwise x
Mcdonalds employee here, if the girl who served you was just what is known as a 'front' employee (serving customers. handing food out) and had never spent time preparing food in the kitchen she unfortunately would never have been taught what actually goes on food items. Hence not knowing whats vegan and what not x
I also worked at McDonald’s ages ago and the manager specifically told me that I was never to tell people what was vegan or not. I had to give them the allergen book so that they could decide for themselves- otherwise they could get in serious trouble if I told them something that was wrong
also a mcdonalds employee. Mcdonalds get the customers to read the allergen book so that if something did happen, for example allergies, they cant be held responsible because it was the customers decision as they checked and agreed. its just to cover their own arses really. also with the allergen book it tells you every ingredient to the chicken and to what goes in the batter and into every product. its a lot to remember off the top of your head. but I get how frustrating it is as you'd expect them to know.
@@mmminsku its mainly to protect the employees and the company in cases of allergies etc. something recently happened at Pret a manger where a girl was allergic to nuts but was advised in correctly and she died!
Aww I feel sorry for the employees I know you guys didn’t mean any harm, but I mean come on, KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN is not going to have many vegan options is it 😩
🙄🙄🙄 I worked at McDonald's for a bit. It's a job for young people really, often students, who are just trying to get by and make a bit of money. A busy worker with five baskets of fries on the go, a tonne of orders waiting to be taken and a manager up their arse shouting at them really couldn't care less about what you will and won't eat. It's your responsibility to know what your having before you come to the window so they can get on with their job and serve other waiting customers. Sounding very entitled girls, try working a day there! ...or just WORKING a day...
I do agree with you that it’s not the employees job to know what it and isn’t vegan but insinuating that Sophia and Cinzia have never worked a day in their lives is a bit ignorant. If you knew how much work actually went into filming and editing videos then you wouldn’t be saying this. Both of them used to have ‘real’ jobs too, soph worked in jack wills and cinzia in a bar. But if you could earn a living off of doing something you love which just happened to be online then I’m sure you’d take that instead of working a ‘real job’. Thank you.
The laws about allergens and dietary requirements have changed and they legally aren't allowed to tell you whether something is or isn't allergen free as they can't guarantee no cross-contamination, therefore to protect themselves they ask you to review the allergen information and make the decision for yourself so they aren't liable for anything. I work in a cafe and it is frustrating for customers that they can't be directly told but it's not the employees fault!
As a vegan who worked in McDonald’s for a year, there is no training or requirement to know the ingredients of food or if they’re vegan/ gluten free. Also out of my whole time there only one person asked what our vegan options were, it literally was never asked. I could count on both hands the amount of times people asked for a veggie burger. Just so yous know, it’s really not common at all or required as part of your training! Xx
I've noticed it for a good while watching these two but I see and hear a lot of entitlement coming through... I've watched these two since they started I'm a couple years older and I just can't watch them anymore. What they've achieved is amazing and they should be so proud but their relatability has faded so much for me personally, change is good but I don't see a good change, I see a narcissistic change which is a shame especially with such young viewers
@MissBrie Completely agree. There's a lot of mimicking going on of other RU-vidrs hence why she constantly mentions big names that aren't known for the right reasons. I know for a fact if I was acting and talking how they do online or offline my Mom would pull me up on it and tell me straight what she saw isn't good. It doesn't seem like they're getting that real talk guidance but rather "yes you're amazing, carry on" just from watching their behaviour and I think it's a real shame. I started noticing it way back when Sophia moaned about paying rent to her Mom and when Cinzia got her lips done, subtle things but it's getting worse. I've never commented about it before because their fan base is so pro them which really is wonderful however, I've always felt like people will get arsey if I point out a flaw... The reason I have now is that I noticed a lot of comments picking up things on this video. But I've actually commented hoping they'll see it, not to be mean at all, but to make them think about the people they're influencing. They're really getting sucked into a very self-absorbed lifestyle. It's time to take a step back and reflect
So judgemental to the poor girl in Mac Donald’s not knowing what was vegan 😂😂 by law she has to give you the book for you to look yourselves loool . Loved the video though x
as someone who also adopts a plant based diet, I think your expectations need to be realistic. KFC, McDonalds and Burger King mainly sell meat obv they wont have many vegan options. Expecting staff who are paid minimum wage and only work part time (most likely) to know the allergens of the whole menu is ridiculous. feel priviledged you've never worked in that environment, having to service people like yourselves. The Mcdonalds workers response was perfect. Very rude, need to work on your empathy. looks to me like youre vegan for the image and not the compassion.
Hey girls, in the food industry you're not allowed to tell people what allergens are in food because if they then have an allergic reaction then you're liable, its just to cover your back x
Being the person behind the counter dietary requirements are SO important. We are told to give you the board ie like that one guy; to relinquish any involvement over the situation. We also work long hours for minimum pay as well as often still being in school so just take the board.
Manners don’t cost a thing guys! Cinzia chewing and spitting everything in the bag is just disgusting. Also, don’t be so hard on the workers all the time, chillllllll
Since the incident with Pret came out it is now a massive thing in food and drink companies to ensure the customer sees and reads the allergen guide and confirms that they are happy to continue with the order so that there is no risk to the customer. This is also to ensure the company and staff members cannot be held accountable for any allergic reaction. This has become the bane of my life but saving the people from dying 🤦😛
i dont see how they were rude, they werent shouting to the workers or anything of the sort, they were merely asking what food were vegan or not! also did they lie though? im sure if you were sat in a FAST food drive thru, youd expect your food to come FAST, wouldnt you?
i dont think the staff should have to know whether its vegan, these places aren't branded as vegan friendly so they're saying it's your call whether you want to eat the stuff from looking at the ingredients for legal reasons and the staff are probably on minimum wage so it's a bit much to expect them to have loads of knowledge on your own food choices. I too, am pescetarian but it was your choice so you shouldn't expect everyone to adjust to you as these restaurants are predominantly aimed at meat eaters. Also my favourite veggie sausages are by the brand cauldron :)
OMG ITS 1HOURR AND U HAVE A CAR MOUNT..so proud 😂 there was legit nothing to watch on RU-vid so this came at perfect timing...also so excited for ur podcasttt x lyy 💗
a lot of the time with restaurants (i work in a gbk) usual staff aren’t allowed to take allergy orders, as they aren’t completely trained in allergy orders, such as gluten free, they are usually taken by supervisors and managers x
I used to work for McDonald’s and the job of taking orders over the intercom is usually given to new workers, because it’s repetitive and doesn’t involve assembling orders at the same time so you can get used to the tills. Requesting vegan food is NOT a common thing and some buns, wraps etc are not vegan so it’s not surprising she would be hesitant to recommend something. Regarding Dietary Requirements/Allergens in most places they will be trained to offer the Allergens book to avoid lawsuits so the customer is responsible for their own requirements so the poor girl was just following protocol. You will be parking up and waiting more as they will have to cook your food in separate oil vats, clean chopping boards, re-wipe surfaces to avoid cross contamination. This is whilst also serving other customers. Thought Cinzia’s attitude was very poor, and especially not to the girls face. If she watches your videos I’m sure she’d be quite upset. Thought with both of you having worked in customer service you would be more understanding.
If someone has an allergy or a dietary restriction, it's on THEM to do a bit of research and know exactly what/how to order things. I'm sure the employees at MCD are already so busy as it is, there's no reason for them to have to memorize the 928 things on their menu lmao.
To be fair as an employee I could easily list vegetarian meals but it’s hard with vegan stuff because some unsuspecting stuff might have milk and eggs like the burger buns and stuff so as someone who isn’t vegan I don’t care enough to know what is and isn’t vegan if that makes sense bc it’s not a common request
"Isn't it their job to know?" No, its moreso your job to know what you can and can't have. It's their job to take your order and give you what you ask for. Fast food is not the same as a 5 star restaurant, it's a totally different atmosphere to work in. Think before you speak/post a video for the world to see. I don't think you're bad people but you need to check your ego.
In Australia and NZ we have Lord of the Fries which is all vegan fast food and it is 100% so good. They even do vegan corn dogs, hot dogs, chicken, burgers, ice cream. The bessssst
Love you both always, but maybe think about the way you talk to the staff. McDonald’s employees aren’t aloud to tell you whether things are vegan etc. You have to look through the allergen book yourself to make sure. Saves time and the law-suits. 🤷♀️🖤
video idea: guessing drinks blindfolded. e.g. you guys would have to guess which drink is coke and which is pepsi, or which one is fanta and which one is Tango
I work in McDonald’s and the apple pies are cooked in the same oil as the chicken and cheese bites where as the veggie burgers, chips and hash browns are cooked in a different vegan oil 💗love youse
Lol ... See this is why ppl need to take responsibility for their own dietary restrictions & know what questions to ask the preparers. If you're going to be super careful about what you eat, prepare your own meals!
A video idea Plan a holiday for each other Everything from the destination, accomodation , things to do and where they eat Think it would be cool Love your videos xx
The advise you to read the allergen book yourself so if you order something and it has something on there that you’re allergic too, the company cant be sued as it would the customers fault, also with so many items on the menu its hard for the crew to remember what it vegan/vegetarian on the menu
I don’t mean to sound rude but girls where are your manners in this video 😭 just simple Please and Thank you’s! These employees are paid so little for what they do and the hours are long.
I love you guys and your videos but wtf??? If people want to make videos about food that's cool, I LOVE FOOD!!! But at least educate yourselves about different foods/spices/ingredients beforehand whether it be vegan or not. Cinzia: It's Asian spices not "India" spices (India is a country) Takeaway "curry" sauce isn't comparable to "India curry flavour" (just because a food item may say curry on it or tastes like spices doesn't automatically make it Indian or Curry) LMAO!!! And show some respect to people with standard day jobs!! They work stupid hours, for little money, lack sleep and can barely afford the things you lot as youtubers consider simple pleasures! Forgetting to keep your humbleness in check.
Love you guys and I know this is an old video but I thought I’d point out we have to give you the board it’s in our training. It’s allergies and law that we give you the board. If you have an allergic reaction ourselves and the company would be fined. I work in a restaurant and thought I would point this out. Love you x
I LOOOOVE SUBWAY, not sure why cos i usually hate sandwiches and stuff like that&&&& also i got a job in mcdonald’s 2 days ago so i’ll be sure to learn what’s vegan for u gals xxxxx
With the whole allergen guide thing - I work at a restaurant and we have to take the guide to the person with the allergy/requirement so they can see if it’s suitable even if we know what they can and can’t have just so it covers our backs in case something happens to the customer x
Someone may have already said this however Mcdonalds fries aren't fully vegan, I believe its because they contain beef fat! Google it for more information, I also believe there was even a lawsuit regarding it! Just for your information angels Xxxxxx
grace theobald You could be correct about that however I’m almost sure they fry some meat such as their chicken nuggets (and then put down the frries in the same oil) so eh.... I don’t know lol It’s a bit controversial over all. I don’t trust it but everybody has their own opinion 😂🤷♀️
I get cinz said she finds drive throughs stressful but to not even say thanks when they give you the food or even look at them while soph orders everything for her just seems really rude to me, also idk if it was for effect but chewing with your mouth open was so off putting :/
MacDonalds employee legally we aren’t allowed to tell you what is vegan or diary free or anything you have to make the decision for yourselves it’s in case we get it wrong and something happens to someone
