i only recently started cooking and just found you guys -- by far this is my favorite cooking channel. i came for the recipes and stayed for your personalities! obviously i love your solo videos but i also love the videos with ben. it sounded like you were thinking about doing another hot ones type challenge, which would be awesome; and, even though the sauces weren't as spicy as you'd anticipated, i really enjoyed the original. anyways, you are both super sweet and talented so keep up the amazing work! :-)

We did a buffalo wrap with them that evening. Amazing! The next video will be 4 or 5 dishes that use all of the NINE BAGS of nuggest that are currently taking over my freezer.

Never liked chicken nuggets. Not having access to any of these. Not into fast food. . But you know what? I just LOVE your videos so much I decided to watch anyways :D Honestly, you're just such a likeable person and your content is always very entertaining (and in most cases inspiring culinarily :D). They're really good. I've actually purchased NUGGS a couple more times as well. And for some reason, Ben is really into the 365. I don't love them, but he's obsessed. Alpha is still the top, though.

Vegan chikn is probably the hardest thing to duplicate, real chicken is the last meat I gave up and nothing vegan even comes close

I think if they are trying to mimic breasts or thighs, then no. But imitating ground up chicken mystery meat, I think a couple of these brands have nailed it.

Lol i cracked up at how you wipe your fingers with the napkin and the way the camera panned to it 😂 and I totally agree with Ben on the praegers vs gardein tenders. The praegers are soooo much worse, i had to drown them in ketchup to get through the box. Will check out the alpha nuggets, they’re not at my regular grocery store but they’re available nearby

Boca Original Chik'n Vegan Patties. Best sandwich patty we've found. We use grill sweet onions, sprouts, bbq sauce, and onion hamburger buns. Good luck! PS we cut them into strips for the "nugget" experience. : )

Subway got me with their veggie patties. I had it a couple times and then underneath on the menu board appeared "contains eggs and milk" Why would u put that into a 'veggie' patty 😡 Nice reviews thanks!

I think compared to how delicious the others were, they fell short. The texture of the others really highlighted how mushy the Gardein are. But like I said in the video, that's all we had for a long time, and I've definitely eaten my fair share.

@@tamlcrucey I noticed the mushiness the other day when I was trying to batter and fry their "scallopini" to make a Popeye's sandwich... I was like, I don't remember it being this soft. Then it happened again with the tenders. They were definitely cooked through.

I tried the original Nuggs and the crust was outstanding, but the pea protein inside was horrible. Are the Nuggs 2.0 really that different and good???

I found nuggs1.0 to be a bit gooey on the inside. Nuggs2.0 aren’t perfect but they’re better imo. Also, i cook them at a slightly higher temp and slightly longer than the instructions. YMMV 👍🏽

@@SoumaMondal - Thanks for letting me know. Nuggs has a sale this weekend - 15% off. However, $34.99 is a bit high when I don't eat nuggets that often. I haven't tried Alpha nuggets and I've seen them at Walmart. I love taste tests - when people are honest - and Michael and Ben certainly are - and I appreciate that.

A year or two ago, they sent their original Nuggs to a bunch of RU-vidrs and vegan influencers. About 5 of those folks DM'd me on Instagram yesterday to tell me how gross they were. Having never tried them, I don't have anything to compare the 2.0 to. However, I did love what we tried. I almost wish I would have given them an A. They were part of my dinner last night, and they were so good! The price point is a bit steep, but if you're OK spending that, then I think you'll love them. They were definitely the closest to a McD's nugget.

I air-fry anything frozen at 400 F, and disregard the directions. They always seem to come out great, and these were no exception.

I’ve wanted to try the nuggs 😭 I always get the morning star nuggets & patties: bbq, buffalo & plain, they’re my favorite. The gardein 7 grain chick’n tenders are like tofu to me, which I wasn’t expecting at all and it really threw me off. I’m not a fan of those.

I'm kind of obsessed with NUGGS, actually. I just bought 4lbs of them... they now have spicy ones. I messaged them on Instagram and they gave me a code, which made the price like $34 for 4lbs plus free shipping. Most of the other ones were about $4 for 8oz (1/2 pound), so that code REALLY helped. Try messaging them if you want to give the a try. I'm sure they'll share it.

There is nothing better than Nuggs 2.0, especially with BBQ sauce. Definitely make them as instructed on the box. 425, in the oven, for 12 minutes, no flipping. Flipping YUM! Also, send yourself a code from their site & use it for a discount on the 4 lb deal. Puts them in an on par range with stuff in the store.

Thanks for all of the tips! I have just been air frying them at 400 until they're crispy. That's pretty much the same as baking at 400. We've been eating all the other nuggets in various ways (see the new video), but the Nuggs we've finished off just dipping in various sauces. Ben used to work at McDonald's in high school, so they were really nostalgic for him.

I would love you to test vegan cheezes. I did some rating videos of individual products a couple of years ago, but without any technical work, no videography. I had five qualities I rated them on: taste, nutrition, allergens, cost, and usefulness as the intended substitute. Anyway, for cheezes, here are the ones I've tried, with your ratings system. 1) I recommend Field Roast Chao, original slices. (A) One can easily grate it for use as a mild mozzarella, or use in sandwiches. 2) I dislike the Daiya slices. They taste like a cheese scented candle. (D) 3) The Daiya shreds are actually different in flavour and texture, not bad, but otherwise, they don't make ones dish scream, "Cheddah ovah heyah!" (C) 4) Follow Your Heart Provolone slices was quite good. It didn't quite have that almost Swiss tang and smell of a dairy provolone, but I truly enjoy it on toasted sandwiches, as well as on pizza, tho it doesn't brown well. (B) 5) Best for last: Myoko's Mozz. It really tastes like a slightly aged mozzarella. (A+)

They don’t have the biggest selection when it comes to convenient vegan foods but they do have some and the price point is always better. I thought of them when you mentioned the field roast nuggets because I did see them at Winco which surprised me but I wasn’t sure so thanks for the review 🙌🏼🤣😬

Yeah. I've tried to do the math and justify the price... The others (as an average) were about $4 to $5 for 1/2 pound. That would mean, at max, they would cost $20 for 2 pounds. Not sure why Nuggs are so much higher... Like all new things, the cost will go down as they make/sell more. Hopefully. They were really good, though. I ate them for dinner again last night, and I'm thinking I should have maybe given them a higher score.

I just ate Quorn Nuggets and then found your video. The Quorn was with the vegan food and I lazily didn't check the ingredients. Not a huge deal being I'll never get them again, because they taste like breading and cardboard

I love their spicy chicken patties, which are vegan, so I just assumed that they were the same base. I was wrong. That same trip to Albertsons, I was surprised at how many "plant based" items there were in the freezer, like Marie Calendar vegetable pot pies... but pretty much everything I picked up had eggs or dairy in them. Why would you take the meat out and make an effort to market it as plant-based, but keep the egg and dairy in it?! It so confusing.

sigh. Wish you had said what each brand was made from, or at minimum the allergens for each. I used to love morningstar's buffalo wings, but I can't have them anymore. I'll just go on assuming everything that tastes good has wheat and continue to go without. It's probably better for me not to waste $$ on packaged/guilty pleasure foods anyway and just make some of your (safe) recipes instead. But damn, I am exhausted and just want a little convenience now and again! :)

Alpha and ultimate gardein are for sure go to nuggets. Daring is okay… maybe in a salad. Don’t buy incogmeato… fishy tasting and need lots of sauce to eat

All fake nuggets taste weird tbh, it's just this really strong plant like flavor. I think if they would add stronger spices or maybe pickle juice it would make a better product. My main problem was fake nuggets is the cost, also they are generally low in protein. The thing about chicken nuggets, they're really high in protein and can actually be part of a meal. Most of these brands just want to imitate the flavor, but they don't imitate the nutrition very well; generally the popular ones are very high in sodium and there is not much to them besides breading and filler. I wish the plant-based meat industry would focus on nutrition more than just flavor, I would love to be able to have some low fiber high protein vegan meats, but they are very rare. Basically the only one I found is TVP stuff, but even then it's hard to get it at an affordable price.

So... They were all "real" nuggets. They just didn't have "real" chicken in them. haha. (Had to be an uber-vegan for a second...) There were some that had less flavor, and there were some that had terrible texture, but I never got a "strong plant flavor" from any of the ones we tried. I also just looked at our 2 winners, Alpha and Nuggs, and the protein content is comparable when serving sizes were adjusted to match (I just Googled "Tyson nuggets" because that was the first brand I could think of.) The vegan nuggets were lower in fat and calories, and of course the vegan nuggets didn't have any cholesterol compared to the 40mg per serving of the chicken nuggets. If you were a parent who insisted on serving your kids nuggets, you could easily serve them Nuggs or Alpha or even most of the others we tried, and the kids wouldn't know the difference. Your kids would also be getting a lower fat food, zero cholesterol, and they wouldn't be missing out on any of the protein. Oh, and they the two brands of vegan nuggets that I compared, also had less sodium. Vegan nuggets are a win all around!

Hey, I want to say I'm not trying to marginalize plant based nuggets, not be argumentative for nothing. Plant based nuggets are much better in every way, but there are few brands that are palatable and nutritious, at least in my area, some are very low in protein, maybe there are many brands like alpha in other areas. Nuggs seem good but you have to ship them and they are rather expensive. The brands here are Morningstar, Boca and Gardein. Some are nutritious but bad tasting, some are great tasting but expensive, it's hard to find a brand here that is a good choice. I have to have groceries delivered, so we get what is available, and most options here are underwhelming. I appreciate the effort but it's difficult finding something I feel comfortable buying regularly.

I think whole foods changed their vegan nuggets. Their old formula was much better (it had different packaging). I’m kind of jealous of all these nuggets. Somebody needs to make a decent gf nugget. Dr. Praegers is like the only one. ☹️ Sad day for us GF folks. Nuggs were GF when they first came out & I loved them.

It's always really difficult going on two different special dietary restrictions like that. My cousin used to have to go on this veeeeeery strict diet and wow, if was so much just to see them have to go through. GF and vegan is a really hard combo. Sorry to hear that, maybe the market will change soon.

Shadow Fox 🤞🤞I’ve emailed Nuggs several times & have been told to “stay tuned”. There are so many more gluten-free vegan choices now than there were even two or three years ago. It’s pretty exciting, but somebody needs to make me a some gfv nuggets! 😂😂

@@sddavis9874 maybe soon. I'm still waiting for some more affordable and better ones come to my area. Nuggs seems nice but very expensive and shipped. I would reccomend checking out clnf.org sometime when you get the chance, they have tvp which you can rehydrate and make into nuggets, and they have some other really cool stuff. Mary's test kitchen has a Nashville hot recipe you maybe can try. Sorry you can't just go buy them (@_@")

In the UK they do actually have a vegan version of the Quorn nuggets :) There's a vegan and a veggie version...it says "vegan" in tiny writing on the vegan version haha

the only thing I like is the meatballs now. I use to love them but now I taste a weird aftertaste in all their chicken products that I swear wasn't there a couple of years ago.
