Silk soy unsweetened was my go to for a while. But it started becoming so hard to find. I think people are still buying into anti soy fearmongering and it’s a shame.
@@3arthandsky Oo that's interesting. That's where I used to shop for it but they seem to mostly only have the almond milk one now. Is it the big tub in a 4 pack or like the small individual yogurt size?
The best yogurt I tried is Silk soy in the plain flavor, which comes in a big tub. It’s hard to find tho! I just prefer yogurt with a bit of protein and the coconut ones never really have protein.
I just sprinkle 2-3 Tablespoons of Hemp seeds over my favorite brands like Forager(cashew based) or Harmless Harvest (coconut based) and that solves the protein problem. Hemp seeds are a complete protein. Chia seeds and flax seeds have protein and a lot of fiber. I’m always concerned about fiber, especially after reading Dr. B’s book called “Fiber Fueled.”
Chris almost made it to the end of this video without coughing 😂 The silk soy yogurt is way better than the almond one, in my opinion. I typically don't eat yogurt, I feel like most have a lot of sugar
I love using cocoyo as a starter for fermenting my own coconut yogurt! i use 1 jar of cocoyo for 3 cans of coconut cream and ferment about 12-18 hours in a warm place. the resulting yogurt is divine; the best vegan yogurt I've ever had~!
I tried the Culina yogurt today after I saw this. I didn't think it tasted like cheesecake, but it was probably one of the better yogurts (not just vegan) that I've tried.
I LOVE the Culina yogurts! They make an excellent base for a yogurt bowl. (I top mine with homemade granola, sliced banana, berries, hemp seeds, cocoa nibs, & some coconut flakes & goji berries sprinkled on top.)😋😋 Lol Chris's facial expressions were killing me throughout this video! Loved it!
For a sweet yogurt, I agree with Jasmine 💯 (and can’t find Coyo anymore either 😭). I also like Silk soy yogurt too. GTS does have a plain flavor called “pure” and, although not great on its own, it is great to use for a tangy yogurt in Indian recipes and different tangy sauces.
I bought the cocoyo yogurt from Whole Foods and was so excited about it since so many people had recommended it and it was the nastiest yogurt I’ve ever tried. At least it comes in the nice jar 😂
I've never been a huge fan of yogurts in the past before eating plant based, but I do really love the Harmless Harvest brand. The best for me is the plain flavor since its the lowest in sugar content only 5 grams per serving. I just sprinkle 2 tablespoons of Hemp seeds in it. Use it for breakfast or dessert. I also like the vanilla flavor and strawberry flavors but they have much more sugar in it vs the plain. I like cashew nut flavored yogurt also but its very high in sugar.
Lmao 😭😅🤣 I'm laughing so hard on the 3rd yogurt reaction! Chris is over there making a face about to gag & meanwhile Jasmine is over there struggling with the spoon & talking away 😭 idk why it was so funny to me lol
I love the Oui! But it’s pretty sweet- more dessert-y than yogurt, I think. And I love the Silk vanilla- both the soy and almond milk versions! I think I tried coconut cult and was so mad at myself for spending so much on a tiny jar that wasn’t good.
FYI on the Forager texture, I've found that it's super inconsistent... sometimes it's smooth like Kite Hill and sometimes it's chunky. I got enough chunky ones that I emailed Forager out of curiosity (I'm such a dork) and they said the inconsistency is due to the unpredictable, ever-changing nature of "alive" organisms (same as in cultured dairy products). I find that stirring it thoroughly usually helps, but still a bummer to open a chunky yog! PS pretty sure the Trader Joes cashew yogurt is this in disguise.
I threw my GT’s in the trash because I thought it had gone bad 🤣 But same, absolutely love their kombucha! The fruit-flavored Oui yogurts are the best! Super sweet and high in sugar though, so consider them a treat and not a healthy breakfast/ snack.
the silk soymilk vanilla and blueberry flavored uogurts are the only ones i’ve found that i can tolerate. i found it surprising how much i hated their almond milk ones since i like almond milk. thank you for new recommendations on what to try!
I love these type of reviews, so helpful. I do think it's hard to compare sweetened to unsweetened. The kite hill tastes much better with a sweetener. I always buy unsweetened and sweeten myself. Cocojune is by far my favorite but I will have to try harmless harvest. Thanks for a great review!!
The Greek yogurt one with no sugar is pretty similar to normal plain yogurt! Yogurt with no sugar is tart much healthier to add your own sweeteners than buying the pre flavored one
Yay! I love your taste tests! You should bring back all your friends for the taste tests again. I LOVED those videos because it is such a wide variety of opinions. Also, I remember when the Culina yogurts used to come in little planting pots and then when they changed to glass, I swear the flavor changed. I used to think it tasted like cheesecake but then when it went to glass it tasted sour/tart? Idk maybe I just had a bad batch but it scared me to buy them again because they were just so sour/tart.
Another excellent taste test video Jasmine & Chris and I don't eat yogurt that often since becoming vegan but will eat it occasionally and it's either the Alpro brand ( owned by the same company that owns Silk) or the stores own brand. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕❤Chris & Jasmine.
I am a vegan beginner for ethical reasons and for the health.❤️ I love animals and the environment. I have always wanted to be vegan so this is a dream came true for me. The only question I have is about supplements how much and how often I have to take? Do they need a prescription? Can I find them also at the supermarket? I am asking because is there that I found the vitamin D. Also I want to know if vegan yogurt are okay to eat cause I know they can contain a lot of sugar, oils etc without considering the fact that i can't eat soy and coconut have a lot of saturated fat.
Cocojune is really good. We love it. The only thing is every time I had it I got a stomach discomfort later. Not sure if I ate too much at once because it’s so good.
I had the cocojune the day before y’all posted because it was the only yogurt at the store I was at and when I tried it I ascended so I’m glad I wasn’t overreacting.
I think I've tried every one of these yogurts (just not in vanilla flavor) and I must be the only person who really likes the GT's Cocoyo! I love Culina and Cocojune as well though. They're all good in different ways!
lmaoo the oui yogurt is literally my #1 fav, kinda surprised you guys didn't like it but I guess understandable if it's just not your vibe. but I am totally trying it as smores lol. I don't think it tastes that marshmallowy but I think with graham cracker bits and chocolate it could be really good
i use unsweetened soy yogurt for salad dressings and dipping sauces (even sometimes a little bit with mustard or ketchup 🤷🏻♀️) its really great. decent amount of protein and 0g sugar so its a win-win! also very smooth! anyway highly recommend it 😂
I am with Chris, I don't like the taste of coconut. I grew up eating yogurt and have been trying to find one that actually has a good taste. Greek yogurt does have a sour taste compared to regular yogurt, that's why some people don't like it. I will have to see if your top picks are available in my area to try. Thanks for doing this video.
So glad you did this video and took one for the team! Vegan yogurts are tough. The only one's I've liked so far are the Trader Joe's brand and Silk soy yogurt - peach flavored. I want to like Kite Hill because they have an office about a mile from my house and I want to support them (I live in Portland), but alas I don't prefer their yogurt.
Great video! I tried Kite Hill, Silk, Harmless Harvest, and So Delicious. For my tastes, So Delicious was by far the best. Of course everyone has different preferences in yogurt. :) I'm going to try Culina and Cocojune though -- maybe I'll find a new favorite!
No, there are a few flavors of the Forager yogurts (and yogurt drinks). It's the only brand I consume! Love Forager Products,as they're also Soy-Free! Would've liked to try the oatmilk yogurts, but concerned I might react to Fava, since it is a Legume. Btw, Coconut is considered a Tree Nut (even tho its technically NOT a Tree Nut, Nut nor Legume, at all).
The Cocoyo yogurt goes bad very easily. I bought it a couple times and it was really good but the next time I bought it the lid started puffing up a week before the expiration date. I opened it and it started coming out the top like a volcano. When I returned it I exchanged for another and it was bubbly tasting like kombucha, I haven't bought it since. It's way too expensive to be so inconsistent.
The Kite Hill almondmilk one is my favorite but it's not enough servings for how much i like to eat my yogurt bowls per week. Forager cashewmilk one is my second fave and ends up lasting me longer and giving me more servings for my yogurt bowls. :)
If you are looking for a protein yogurt, I like mixing my own! I take a scoop of ritual protein powder and mix in some of the plain cocojune yogurt. I also like the plain Culina yogurt mixed in when I can’t find cocojune. The consistency and flavor is so much better than the high protein vegan yogurts on the market. I like to top my protein yogurt with banana slices and Oat Haus granola butter ☺️
Silk soy yogurts are my favorite but they have a lot of sugar in them. I like the peach and mango flavors of the siggis and don't mind the mixed berry with granola and fruit. Before I was vegan I really liked the Fage Greek yogurt, so I don't mind some tartness.
‘Protein powder’ ‘protein powder’ and Chris is ‘pampers’ ! Omg. I’m laughing so hard!! Kite hill unsweetened plain is very good for recipes calling for plain yogurt. And I’m surprised you didn’t get the Trader Joe’s vanilla yogurt. I make overnight oats with it and it’s so good my non vegan husband loves it!
Oui Mango dairy free is my absolute favorite. It's better than dairy yogurt. The problem is it's so high in saturated fat because it's mostly coconut cream.
Unfortunately the only "good" one of these I can find around me is the Silk Almondmilk one which has grown on me. I have tried several of the others that I can find and have not enjoyed any of them. So Silk it is for now until the stores around me expand their horizons. 🤷🏻♀️ Also poor Chris looked like he was struggling towards the end. 😂 Thanks for sacrificing yourself for the greater good!
I’m not vegan, but I try eating vegan. I love yogurt & the Oui is the most like dairy yogurt that I’ve ever found. I was shocked when you said you didn’t like it!
Fortunately for those of us who don't have the options that you all have we have to use what is available, I do like the Silk yogurt I use it in my overnight oats.
As far as a Greek yogurt taste Fynd is the best Greek yogurt tasting yogurt I've tried the peach and the strawberry taste so nice and it has a better consistency than regular Greek yogurt I recommend you guys try it if y'all haven't
They had the silk soy during my last hospital stay & it was pretty good. I don’t think I really ever get vanilla yogurt in any brand so I’m safe but the qui yogurt is amazing in every flavor. More as dessert tho lol
