Looks like a decent product. Maybe it will force the competition to downsize their products. Not going to lie, I'm not connecting anything called "Grenade" to my vehicle, such bad karma. I can see my convo at the dealer; "this is covered right?" "no you Grenaded it" :)

Hahaha that’s funny. I never thought about that.

Would you say the “crawl” mode would help a 2wd truck without a low range go down/up hills or through rough sections in a more controlled manner?

I had a very similar reaction when I installed the Pedal Commander in my 4Runner. With the TRD cold air intake and TRD exhaust, it would make the tires spin in sport (I never even tried sport+) but in city mode, it made a massive difference in the overall drivability. Ultimately, I sent the PC back for a few reasons: 1. Even though they are worth every penny from a ROI perspective, I decided that I would rather spend that $300(ish) on camping gear. 2. My wife sometimes drives the 4Runner for work, so I like to keep everything as close to a stock experience as possible. If she's out in the field doing her thing, and needs to have repairs done for whatever reason, I want her to not have to troubleshoot over the phone too many things that a Toyota mechanic may not know about. 3. The MPG thing.... I installed the intake and exhaust because I wanted to see if they would make a substantial difference in my fuel economy. I'm up to 22MPG highway, and about 20MPG city. The PC ate a bit into that, and I didn't want to compromise on something that hurt my fuel economy. The Eco mode on the PC made everything go back to where it was, but then why spend the money?

Yeah that is perfectly reasonable. I have also debated doing the cold air intake and exhaust and that is definitely worth it if there is an MPG increase. What were your before and after MPG numbers?

@@OverlandEngineer I drive it pretty gingerly for the most part. Before I was getting about 17.5 city and roughly 19 highway. I got the intake and went up to 18.7cty and 20hwy. It's when I got the exhaust that it really opened up. Broke it in for a few months, then I took a road trip from Vegas to Oklahoma, and time was of the essence so it had to be all highway. Cleared all gauges, downloaded Torque Pro, and even did the math on refills just to triple check. I actually spiked around 23.5, but the round trip helped even things out at 22.1hwy. Round town here in Vegas, I'm getting about 19.8. It can definitely be loud on the highway, but I found this nifty external noise mitigation knob on my dash that fixes that issue. If you're going to do it for MPG purposes though, be aware that the break-in period isn't to acclimate your vehicle to a new air system, it's so that you can get accustomed to the fact that at low rpm your truck will now growl like a predator, which makes it way too tempting to romp on it regularly. Once you have the giggles out of your system though, you can get some accurate MPG readings. You will love how much nicer the power delivery is. I finally got to go down a more challenging trail for the first time since installing the exhaust, and it was like a whole new truck. When you go into 4WD, and all that torque comes online, you feel invincible.

@@Hobbies4Hire That is amazing. That makes me really want to get the TRD exhaust. The fact that you saw any MPG improvement and some power gain, I am very interested now.

Great video! Does this help with gear hunting? Or does that require tuning like OVtune for the Tacoma?

A shame they don't support the GX460, but there are other options out there.

The stock engine is so reliable I'm reluctant to add this device. It's very cool though and I appreciate the video. Now if I could only get my agency to add these to our ambulances LOL.
@OverlandEngineer

Haha that would be awesome. It would be interesting to know if it really impacts longevity of the vehicle. I feel like I would lean toward it definitely probably causing people to go through brakes quicker but its hard to say. Its not that I consistently drive at 5000 rpms now...I just get to 3000 rpms in half the time stock 4Runners do.

would have like you to start out midway for the video... and see the real world result for the modes one would use most.

There are chapters on the video so you can see what I talk about at what times... I also talk about the modes. I don't know what more I can do...sounds like you might just need to buy it and test it yourself.

all of these things are gimmicks, all it does is change pedal behavior, it wont boost your power. wear heavy boots, same effect
@OverlandEngineer
@OverlandEngineer 2 года назад
That’s what I thought before I had it. That is definitely wrong. The modulation of the pedal better allows you to use power the vehicle doesn’t use with the stock setup.
@Zerocool818
@Zerocool818 2 года назад
@@OverlandEngineer that is not possible, put a obd2 scanner on and check the throttle position, it can only go to 100% regardless of what you do. Try it for yourself and see that it cannot produce more power, its just moves it further back in the pedal range.
@OverlandEngineer
@OverlandEngineer 2 года назад
@@Zerocool818 All I said was that it allows you to use the power better aka probably sooner. I never said it produced more power. I’m not sure why you watched the video if you are so set on not buying one 😂
@Zerocool818
@Zerocool818 2 года назад
@@OverlandEngineer You said, " The modulation of the pedal better allows you to use power the vehicle doesn’t use with the stock setup" Which is incorrect. Only pointing out facts. There is no 'power' you gain with this pedal. It's a misconception.
@OverlandEngineer
@OverlandEngineer 2 года назад
@@Zerocool818 I am saying that because the vehicle can accelerate earlier than it is setup from the factory with the stock pedal configuration,code,electrical, however you want to explain it. This allows you to use accessable power the engine is making at an earlier point due to removing pedal lag. The gain is relative. I never said this would add horsepower or torque improvements to the vehicle.
