🇳🇱 ❤🇫🇷 2 of my for father fought as Dutch for France in the 123th Regiment infanterie du linge and 124th. The one from the 124th survived as one of the few the campaign to russia with the grand armee. The one of the 123th fought in Lutzen en Leipzig. Lets never forget their suffering and sacrifices.
No way this is serious 💀 "France is in trouble. Portugal stands with them, since we fought in a war a hundred years ago. Also, you should bring back the emperor." History larpers are wild man
@@hanneslundin346 I never mentioned that the Portuguese Republic itself stood with France. I just mentioned how I hoped that all the unrest in France would end, and paid respect to the former French Emperor. Though, I am a Portuguese individual, and not the Portuguese statehood.
This is true patrioctism, not that "There's nothing we can do" meme or whatever it is. Greetings from Italy! We may not get well with each other most of the time, but your quest for liberty brings a spark of passion to everyone! 🇮🇹❤🇫🇷
This song is so interesting to jnderstand the French point of view during the Napoleonic wars. To us, the empire was just the continuation (even consolidation) of the Republic. A republic of liberty and equality that the european monarchies worked so hard to take down.
This is why the political concept of "Bonapartism" exists, i.e., internal reactionary and outwardly revolutionary. For France, Napoleon was the reactionary force who ended and reversed the revolutionary changes of the French Revolution but to his enemies, Napoleon was the active revolutionary agent spreading the ideas of the French Revolution
Rappeler Jean-Jacques Rousseau ? Robespierre ?
A little tip if you do the trip one day. Paris is great but it’s a big european city with all the issue of a big touristic city ( dirt, tourist trap, …) keep few days to go out the classic paris touristic tour and visit some « province » places like south west, azur coast, britain, normandy, … It can change all your to see real France .
Fun fact: this song is a revolutionary song composed in 1791, way before Napoleon got into power as Consul. The word 'empire' was only used to rhyme with 'conspire', and it was understand as meaning 'fatherland'. However, it was just very advantageous for Napoleon to also use this song for his Empire.
Great song, just one mistake at the part you translated as "The salvation of our Homeland - Depends on that of the universe" In this case, the translation carries the opposite the meaning of what is being said. The song says that the fate of the universe depends on France's fate, which you could translate to "On the fate of our Homeland - Depends that of the universe"
@@SwePolNur die Zeilen des Liedes und dann das Nachdenken über die französische Besetzung Süddeutschlands und den Preußen-Französischen Krieg. Für mich fühlt sich das alles ironisch an
@@wertyuiopasd6281 I'm smart but I'm a human and thus I make mistakes. I simply find this song to be ironic due to the age it was written in and what happens in the future, especially following the line where it states that if the French should fall under oppression, the whole world ought to be in chains.
Do you know that it's Prussia, Austria and the HRE that declared war on France because they wanted to end the Revolution? Using the pretext of the beaheading of Marie Antoinette. All the best to you.
