I know it can't be a petrol diesel heater, but that's what people are going to call it. :)
Here we have an actual petrol/gasoline fired heater. Well made with good parts.
In this part of the video I'm running the heater, doing CO tests, and a loudness test. In the other video I'll unbox it and take it apart.

That crooked display in the remote would drive me nuts :)

I think they got my attention with a heater that works at 8,000 ft. I’m also a little intrigued by a heater that runs on gasoline since my tow vehicle is now gas. Actually, dual fuel would be handy given that one tow vehicle is gasoline and the other is diesel.

Great but always worry about the safety asspect of petrol fuel in a van heater so will be nice to see part 2 and the safety device's in this machine very well done so far David.

650$ is a little out of my price range. Interesting video, thanks.

First time here. Love the accent. Love becoming aware of a gas heater (I have a diesel heater in a gas truck - just extra work). Love the buss bar around your battery terminal.

Cool, I didn't know that anyone produced a heater that would run on gasoline!

I seriously don't like the idea of this type of heater running on petrol. I think I will just stick with my stinky diesel heater which worked well last summer. Good vid.

yeah keep the petrol for the genuine ones by eber and webasto. don't wanna burn your what ever down from a cheapo heater...

For all you folks who need to know.... These are called "parking heaters" not Chinese diesel heaters. I've had a petrol/ gasoline webasto parking heater in my van for over 5 years now and it works flawlessly. That part of the comment is really for the people who are averse to using gasoline as a fuel source. Gasoline burns cleaner, hotter starts up within a minute and never once have I ever had to take it apart clean it, maintain it, anything. I already carry gasoline because of the gasoline engine. I definitely don't want to carry another fuel source.

I see a real market in the US for an air/water version of this gasoline heater. Most RV's in the states unless they are the big high end bus types are gasoline. Most have LP also and some run their generators off that as well as the air and water heaters. LP generators are not ideal. I would rather have one small tank for the cooker and do all the rest off the fuel tank. Easy and quick refills.

This why it is crucial to place the main controller in the correct spot for the diesel heater and this new gas one. It's one of the biggest problems with their heater. Running too hot, or the size of a heater! They need to start thinking about the placement, not the easement of the controller.

Does make me wonder if you could actually put diesel (and other oily fuels) through this heater, akin to the past experiments of putting fuels like petrol through a diesel heater, and if it worked properly, it could indeed be called a petrol diesel heater... :P

What are the advantages of a Gasoline heater vs a diesel one ? Because I can certainly see the disadvantages : more dangerous, fuel price, need for 2 types of fuel in vans and boats (majority run on diesel). Not being cheeky, honest question
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie 11 месяцев назад
Americans. Well not just them but wherever have gasoline/petrol as their main fuel source and not diesel. A lot of American mobile homes / campers are gasoline petrol engines.
@vincentdesjardins1354
@vincentdesjardins1354 11 месяцев назад
@@DavidMcLuckie makes sense indeed. But other than compliance with your original fuel source no advantages whatsoever, no better performance nor better fuel efficiency. Thanks for the quick reply and all your excellents videos David

Yes I can agree that it will be marketed toward the US market diesel is available but so is gasoline and most of the vehicles here are still gasoline also most of our weed trimmers, mowers, leaf blowers, and motorcycles are gasoline thus a significant amount of people here have gas cans just sitting in their garage...

@DavidMcLuckie A gas running burner Isn't gonna gel at -45 F people traveling may not want to keep track of winter diesel or regular. little off topic, but an idea for an easy video. Of a heater running for sleep purposes the pump is great to hear... thanks for your pro-active videos on cdh!

I have a question about the combustion air intake. You have such fantastic videos I enjoy watching all of your experiments and tests. your knowledge about these heaters. I put one in my garage recently and I didn't run the combustion intake hose to the outside should I have? I also have a wood shop in my garage I was wondering about the dust. Should be concerned with the dust being sucked through the heater? Thanks for all the videos.
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie 10 месяцев назад
Having the heater use outside air for combustion has two advantages. The first being you aren't using the air you've warmed up for burning, which would have to be replaced with cold air from outside. Second is not sucking in dust and debris, although if you have a filter (not just the intake silencer) it's not as bad.
@WoodShopStop
@WoodShopStop 10 месяцев назад
@@DavidMcLuckie you are the Best! I rerouted the combustion air intake tube outside the building so it will suck in fresh air. I think it should run more like it's supposed to. Thank you very much 👍🏿

could you run diesel heater on different type of cooking oil straight, from sunflower, rapeseeds, coconut oil etc, we know won't run on vegetable oil straight, but might run other oils that might have low flash point or less thickness of oil.

Hello David,,,, pause while you say Hello,,, OKAY now that we got that bit over, checking the Velit website they show the unit as Gasoline/Diesel Air Heater 14000Btu 4000W $649.00 I wonder if the unit you have will burn both gas and diesel and or a 50/50 mix,, if it will do all of that what if you mix gas-diesel-used cooking oil that has been filtered,, if it will do all that will it burn white gas,, anyhow,,, at a three times price point higher than a standard diesel heater from china I don't think its going to win a lot of sales, the Plus of this unit: seems to be worth an extra bit of cash but not three times more just in case the Velit folks are looking for feed back $349.99 and I think you will make some sales but much of the unit looks too much like the standard diesel heater, as soon as china knocks it off they will offer it for $129.99 anyWhoo

Haven't watched part 2 yet but I'm assuming this heater doesn't put out the same heat as a diesel heater as diesel has more stored energy and this heater probably doesn't get the same efficiency as diesel...
@oliver90owner
@oliver90owner 10 месяцев назад
Assuming is rarely the better way to go - too many assumptions are wrong. I don’t know its output (not even converted the US volumes to metric, for sensible calculations), but at least it is not necessarily claiming ridiculous outputs like the typical “5” and “8” kW chinese diesel heaters - which are mostly virtually identical. ‘Probably’, regarding efficiency, without any corroborative evidence is yet another subjective thought that needs to be ignored by all those reading your comment.

First would be the Afterburner, then one of the Hcalory heaters had a mode you had to turn on to get it to do it.
