Velma Is Complete And Utter Trash 

You have to have a lot of hate in your heart to want to destroy something as innocent as Scooby Doo.

If you look at Mindy Kaling's background: rich family, privledged background, ivy league education, no part-time jobs, handed her only jobs in Hollywood out of uni. You realise she has a lot more in common with her version of Freddy than Velma.

Very insightful of you to point out how the original show taught kids that people who were very different could work together and needed each other, while this “diverse” and “progressive” update basically teaches viewers to resent (Fred & Daphne) or exploit (Norville) anyone of a different racial or social group.

The main teaching of Scooby Doo remains relevant to this day: The real monsters are everyday people, like the people that made this show.

I love it how this "modern and more mature" reboot is far more juvenile than the cartoon with a talking dog.

“Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc.” is probably my fav SD show, incredible art style that recalls the original but puts a more modern style to it, DCAU type of animation, astonishing story telling and a very cool horror/thriller element that doesn’t take away from the original concept of the show, all the villains are still people wearing masks, but it’s not just a monster of the week typa show, it has a connected story that by the half point of the show becomes so relevant the cast shift their focus to solve that mystery entirely. It’s a 10/10, watch it instead of this garbage

Shows like Velma and She-Hulk feel like the people in high school who called you "nerdy" for liking cartoons with good storylines went into screenwriting and are trying desperately to capitalize on the popularity of these kinds of shows, but never grew out of their "lol nerd" mindset. And then when the audience hates it, they jump back and say "you're all racist!!" while totally ignoring the key story issues.

Fred is a humble guy that respects everyone's opinion. Daphne loves Fred and accept his love for mystery. Velma is intelligent and doesn't badmouth anyone in the gang. Shaggy is funny and unique in his own way. Scooby loves his family and his snacks. They literally didn't need to change the characters personal trait, just throw in some new and fresh mystery cases we will be into it.

It seems that the people that are into all this woke stuff are some of the meanest, most vengeful, hate filled narcissists to have ever walked the earth. I mean making a children's cartoon this spiteful is so low that it leaves one almost speechless.

I cannot believe the series was even allowed to happen. I'm waiting for lawsuits.

Velma is part of the "I can't believe it's not intentional" genre. A work that is so bad that it looks like the writers are intentionally trying to make a bad show for whatever reason, but it's not; the writers are just bad at their job

What's funny is even the target audience hates this show

What’s really crazy, is that the Mystery Inc gang knockoffs in Velma get away Scott free at the end of season 1. When half of them should be in jail, and the other half, in therapy, as they’d be in a worse spot than when they’d started. For instance, Fred should have had a meltdown and gone insane by what he’d experienced in the last week because of Velma. He was seen as a disappointment by his dad, and watched his mother die a gruesome death.

It’s really disappointing to see that the show which made the childhood of people from the 70’s to the late 2015’s took such a dark, misleading and a non-required 360 degree turn.

The fact they had to racialize the original Scooby Doo characters just really shows what they are focused on.

I told my 6yo that a new Scooby Doo was being made, but without Scooby and Shaggy she started to cry.

How to make scooby doo remake good: Shaggy: a stoner who thinks his pet dog can talk, but it's not. At the end, he stops being a stoner, bought a puppy names scrappy and found a reason in life. Scooby: on everyone's pov, it's a normal dog that barks and always happy. In truth, he is shaggy's coping mechanism. He is, ironically the heart of the group using his adorable qualities. Fred: a brave, well intentioned dude, but his friends always jump in to help due to his lack of knowledge regarding social norms (he grew up as a privledged white family). Daphne: thinks she's know everything, but humbled and a graceful loser if proven wrong (either shaggy told her the bleak reality, fred told he to never give up and find other way to solution, or velma points out her fallacy). She's just lacking attention in her childhood and was driven to prove herself. Then she learned the value of friendship and loyalty. Velma: an actual knowledgeable character, but hides her lack of sex appeal through harmless sass and sarcasm. Later she learned that life is not just about getting men, but to be the best person than before.

The one joke about Shaggy and Scooby trying to barricade the door only for it to open from the other side is more hilarious than this entire show

If the characters weren't wearing their iconic colored clothing, it would be unrecognizable as a Scooby Doo adaptation.

The real Velma was never mean or anything. She was always happy to help her friends and to also receive their help when needed. No one was mean to anyone in that cartoon because the very point was that it was a lesson about teamwork and the value of using everyone strengths to overcome the mysteries. The only thing the new serie does is that It gives us a good glimpse of how the authors are thinking. Edit : English isn't my language.

This gets funnier and funnier to me ! It feels like they have no inspiration to create new black characters, inspired from african folklore and history, they can only use pre existant caucasian characters and paint them black for the next movie. How ironic !

Scooby-Doo works perfectly as a children's cartoon. Mindy Kaling said they cut Scooby-Doo out because that was what made it a children's cartoon. I have to say to Kaling, "Why did you make an adult Scooby-Doo cartoon in the first place?" I believed it also shows in the final product that Charlie Grandy and Mindy Kaling wanted to make an adult cartoon first and a Scooby-Doo show second with the show second. I also know that there are plenty of adult parodies of Scooby-Doo out there.

Not a single person involved in this show said: "Hey, maybe this isn't a good idea."

You can tell Velma is a self insert of a kid who got bullied at school and is working through therapy via the show

Got to give Mindy Kaling credit for one thing: She'll single-handedly be responsible for the Scrappy-Doo episodes no longer being considered the low-point of the Scooby-Doo franchise. Unless "Velma" is disinherited from the franchise (which it already is for me.)

Sad thing is, Velma probably represents these writers' lives.

Even if it wasn’t based on Scooby Doo, it’d still be shit. The characters are beyond annoying, the plot makes no sense, the episodes go nowhere and there’s no over arching theme or point to any of the plot. Each plot gets picked up and completely abandoned even within each episode. It is literally the cartoon version of The Room, but without the Tommy Wiseau hilarity.

That GO AWAY NOW at the end definitely had anger and disgust in it.

fun fact: the creator of VELMA went on a talk show and talked about the haters. she stated that she has no idea why such a amazing girl is getting such hate from but says that the haters seem to only hate VELMA series because they cant imagine a idian girl being black and are racist. . she completely ignore all the real reason why her series getting hated on by everyone around the world and just blames the hate on people being racist and sexist.

Gotta love fanfic writers having jobs writing stories for beloved IP's and having none of the love for any of it. Sometimes feels like every 'modern' movie/tv series is just a cringey fanfic writer's self-insert, angry at the world because they are so creatively bankrupt.

As a kid (white male) I was always looking up to Velma, because she helped me realize while growing up that the looks and muscles aren't everything and one can also achieve much thanks to brains. And now look how they've massacred my... girl.

I grew up watching Scooby Doo, Where Are You? on Cartoon Network (back when they showed cartoons). And I’m convinced that Mindy Kaling hates the original cartoons and wants to ruin it for her own selfish reasons.
