I present to you how to replace the cord mechanism on the Velux blackout blinds Predstavljam vam kako zamenjati vrvični mehanizem na Velux siesta senčilu
This is the only video I could find giving a step by step instruction on how to change the strings. Thankfully, it is an excellent one. Clear and easy to follow. Grateful thanks.
Velux has some videos about replacing the blinds but show much fewer details. Especially no cord replacement and how it's supposed to go through the guiders 6:53
Without this video I would never have been able to successfully replace the strings on my velux blind. A new blind was going to cost over one hundred pounds. Replaced the strings with new guides for thirty. The plastic string guides were the expensive part. Huge thanks for posting this very clear and correctly paced video.
@@Kylierodd Hello. I ordered the parts from Velux in my country. This is Velux Slovenia. Look at the window model on your window. Search for Velux in your country, tell us the window model and what you need. Or look on this page - www.meurer-shop.de/dachfenster/velux/velux-verdunkelungsrollo
despite Velux assuring me that the new cords would come with fitting instructions- they didn’t! So thank you so much for your video - absolutely brilliant and easy to follow.
Perfect Darijan, great job with the video. Extremly helpful. It took a while for me to get the right parts form Velux since i had problems finding the "Endkappen" in the store, but once i had all the parts your instruction were a great help. Vielen Dank!
Thank you Darijan, so much. This was quite tricky with one pair of hands. I would never have been able to work it out without your brilliant video. Shame in the UK the kit comes as strings only and a second kit for the end caps. So you have to pay twice!
Absolutely perfect given Velux UK are great for selling you the parts but crap coz no fitting instructions. Darijan has saved me a fortune, £20 worth of stuff from Velux and the rest DIY. Worked like a dream, pay close attention to get the tension right before re-installing the blind. If I had had to buy two new blinds I would have been £200 down on the blinds, let alone a fitter if you need one - I didn't. Thanks again Darijan
Absolute PERFECTION - you da man! Impossible without your help... THANK YOU! I had to reattach the side sliders as they weren't correct engaged onto the lugs of the roller blind. So care needed to slot the top lugs into the sliders.
I am very grateful for this video, thank you! I've just been able to fix my blackout blind by following it and look forward to some proper sleep tonight for the first time in weeks!
This is absolutely the best video on servicing a Velux blind - absolutely spot on. Thankyou for sharing - you've saved me a fortune. There's 10 of these blinds in my kids rooms and the cords + end caps all fail after around 5 years of daily use. Following your instructions has just saved me hundred's of £'s :)

Darijan, great video (the sound track is growing on me) crystal clear on what to do, you saved me some money. Thank you. I had also the pleated blinds on the same rails which added to the anticipation of further complication but wasn't in the end. Velux should get you to do some further videos 😎
Excellent video that describes each step. Short written explanations help focus on important details. Helped me, even though the blinds I have are a slightly different model. Thank you!
Sir! It's a fantastic video. I was affraid how am i gonna do that, but with your video it was suprisingly easy! And you saved us 50 € cause i didn't have to call the repair man for fixing that. So next beer will be raised to you!
Thank you for such a clear video! Way better than anything I could find on the french media. I recommend you add some keywords such as "cordon" "store" "dkl velux slim"
Great video, thank you a lot! Velux sent me the replacement parts and mentioned there was no instructions available - but I could check online on youtube. So I found this little gem.
Thank you very much for your helpful video. I have that problem and to be honest I didn´t know how to solve it and it was abolutely fantastic to find this one. Thanks again.
Great video. Thank you for the detailled shots of the cord guide at 6:53. Mine looked ok so I oderered only the cords. But now I noticed the thread has worked itself under one of the noses like a belt saw. I think that's why the outer layer broke and it got stuck.
@@darijan-diy I also ordered the cord guides and installed them when they arrived :-) Recommendation to all people having trouble with the cords: Also check the cord guides so you can order all parts at once. The Velux support is very helpful to look for the part numbers you need.
Very good tutorial video. It shows clearly all steps and every important details at the necessary points. And all that without speaking! Very international! 😀
Unfortunately Velux wants us to replace broken blinds with new and not to repair the old. They make parts for older blinds impossible /very difficult to find. Built in obsolescence sadly gives them more profits.
Third time in about 6 years I’ve had to use this video, and every time it gets the job done brilliantly. I know I’ve found the right one again when I hear that music! 😅
Thank you for the video it really helped me to fix my blind. Its annoying that the few parts required cost so much from Velux, £18 for two bits of plastic!!
I finished! And it works! 🎆🪛 To be honest, it is FAR from a piece of cake, even with advice. I can't understand how Velux makes us do such difficult things. But I got it done, thanks to you! You want to know why? Because you start rigging from the opposite direction than the actual manual that Velux sent along with the repair kit... You know? You FIRST put in the "click" thingies, and THEN start rigging. In the manual, they FIRST rig halfway, then lay the chords across the blind and give us a fuzzy photo that doesn't make it clear at all what to do next. So, we don't understand and either get stuck or do it all wrong and ruin our blind. 😭 But the way you explained it, it's like threading a sewing machine. It is much more logic. Of course, your Velux is hanging horizontally, and not very high above the floor; so screwing the aluminum frames back in looked much easier for you than it was for me, standing on a ladder obliquely squirming myself... still, thank you 😃
