How to fix a loose Velux blind spring.

Sometimes you may find your Velux blind has gone 'puffy' when hanging or does not retract properly. You may even have ripped your blind and need to replace it and just want to replace the fabric part and not the whole thing.
In this video I add tension back into the Velux blind spring and re-hang it.
This is the 2nd time I have had to do this in about 8 years, so its really a video for me to remember what to do in case it happens again.
In this video I am working on an older Velux pre-2014 blind which is powered by 4x D batteries.

Brilliant. Hadn't realized the spring would come out of the tube so easily, so this was a massive help. Blind fixed - feeling smug!!

Really wish I had seen this before I bought the velux replacement tension kit - I could have saved the unnecessary purchase. Thanks for this, nice and easy to follow, even if the blind is a little fiddly :-)

Really helpful thanks. I kinda figured it out but I was looking for the pre-tension info. 12 turns I take it. Was that enough ? Too much?

It's really hard to tell. I think it's about right. Although in a year or two you may find yourself doing it again. I thought if I put too many turns in, the batteries would struggle pulling the blind on ours, too loose, and it will probably go slack again.

@@The_Kharski just put one back together with 30 turns because i wasn't sure either. It's pretty snappy now but will still hold a half mast sort of position.

Some local company installed some blinds on my mom's house that are jammed on one side which could be expected on a powered blind. The only problem is that the blind is manual which I look forward to how the pos salesman will explain that away.

hi daniel, any chance you have took off the motor/spindle /cog/ end caps ? as i have lose metal C clips left and right that ar'nt obviously fitting or doing a specific job ?? help please, where should they locate
