I love that first dress for several reasons, and most of them are that it looks like it'd be SUPER comfortable. Like, you could wear a normal bra with that thing. You wouldn't have to shave anything. Elegant, understated, wearable, some fun quirky elements. I'm not obsessed with the bag either, but yknow what would work real nice with this style of skirt and the fabric here? Pockets. Pockets would make it perfect.

I love what Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and many of the more brave attendees did. American red carpets tend to be so boring, safe, and uninspiring. These cuts and fabrics are brave and challenges the eye. A preference for safe choices with little color, shape, or pattern means that you don't really have a good sense of style. Fashion and style are not the same: fashionistas follow, stylish people lead.

Agreed. It's officially sweater weather where I live (well, in the morning and evening anyway...still a hot muggy mess in the afternoon). And that sweater is giving me all the 'cuddle up on the couch with a book and a hot drink after a walk through the park in the crisp breeze' cozy/hygge vibes.

Hey, im not italian but i do study italian so i think i can help a bit! When theres "gl" in a word, its usually pronounced like "ly" , for example the word for shirt is "maglia" but instead of "mahg-lee-ah" its pronounced "mah-lee-ah". Its pretty complicated, but this is kind of a base. I know this channel is not one for perfect pronounciation, and i dont claim to be an expert either, just want to help where i can, because i know its confusing :)
So when I google it the internet tells me Gianni created ‘Oroton’ fabric, but as an Australian I know Oroton a brand famous for their glomesh fabric since the 30’s. I’d love to know if he actually did create it and if so why he named it after an existing glomesh brand
okay so doing some research! glowmesh apparently started in 1958 (according to their website) but seemed to be predominantly made into handbags, although they note a halter top was made in the 1970s? It’s actually a very interesting point that I’ll have to look into further but great spot and thank you so much!!!
Like you, I wanted to find out more. So, I looked up information and couldn't find anything directly, but in 2018 a 1980ies Gianni Versace dress was auctioned at Koller International Auctions. According to the German page of this "Oroton Metal Mesh dress" made from dark blue aluminium, the idea of Oroton was developed by Versace and a German craftsman in 1982. It is supposed to combine the suppleness of silk with the texture of metal, by connecting the metal ringlets on four point and thus creating the mesh. I don't know how true the information is, but maybe it's a sufficient starting point?
