Venice, Los Angeles - February 8, 2024. Along Lincoln Boulevard in Venice, a coordinated initiative between the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. is underway, aimed at addressing the homeless encampment situation. This effort is part of the city's ongoing commitment to effectively manage homelessness and maintain high standards of public cleanliness and health.
Dressed in white hazardous materials suits, workers executed the cleanup operation with adherence to rigorous safety measures.
Prior to the operation, the city had disseminated notices informing the community of the impending cleanup and urging the removal of personal belongings from the designated areas. The notices clarified that items left behind would be collected by city personnel.
Homeless individuals were afforded a 15-minute period by Los Angeles Sanitation to move their belongings before the commencement of the cleanup. Law enforcement officers supported in relocating individuals from the cleanup areas, while sanitation workers handled the removal of unclaimed possessions.
The operation demonstrated a synchronized effort between the Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., with personnel donning yellow and orange vests respectively. Their primary focus was on differentiating hazardous from non-hazardous waste, guaranteeing a comprehensive cleanup.
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) played a vital role in providing outreach services to the homeless population during the operation.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved, especially the homeless community, was a priority for the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers concentrated on upholding cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols.
Notably, despite the enforcement of camping ordinances that limit certain activities in public areas, no citations were issued throughout the cleanup process. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Los Angeles to confront the issue of homelessness, signifying a dual focus on immediate actions and the exploration of long-term solutions to address the underlying causes of homelessness and offer essential support to those affected.

The location in this video is directly in front of Whole Foods Market on Lincoln in Venice adjacent to Marina Del Rey. It has now become a Druggie Addiction Encampment. Keep in mind there are no doubt needles, spent syringes, etc scattered all over the sidewalk including urine and you know what else. Just imagine how the employees and customers of Whole Food Market feel with this going on directly in front of the store. Just think, these people at will can walk right into Whole Foods Market and camp out in the restrooms or the Food Court seating area, etc. Would you chance parking at this Whole Foods Market, getting out of your car, and walking into the store not knowing what's going to happen when you get out of your car. I moved from Venice many years ago and at that time it was nothing like it is today. Used to go to this Whole Foods Market location dozens of times but never again after seeing the video just today. I was totally shocked to see this, i.e. this encampment at Whole Foods Market. Just imagine how Management feels about it as well as the customers. No doubt fewer customers go here now because of this. Very sad matter what's going on in our society today.

I had no idea that the encampment went all the way up Lincoln from Rose to the CVS. I thought it was confined to just that first block of Rose along the Whole Foods parking lot. I moved away in 2016 so the taco tents are new to me too. Do they have to comply with LA County Health Department rules and regulations, e.g., three-compartment sink sanitation, proper hot and cold food holding temperatures, hand sinks for employees to wash their hands, blah, blah, blah?

A nightmare existence. If people aren't masochists & don't want to be trapped in a cycle of homelessness surrounded by dirt, chaos & misery, they should rather fall sleep & never wake up again. Contrast that with people who have so much to live for, & so much to give to those around them, yet see their life cut short by a fatal illness or, even worse, tragic accident (eg, Kobe Bryant). Or, worst of all, are victims of a fatal crime. If God/Gaia/Allah/Buddha/Mother-Nature were kind & equitable, it would balance all those contradictions.

wow again without a garbage dump on the street that's not nice if you're there as a vacationer and you want to see the nice shops and attractions, you look at your garbage dump. I think it's important that you as a city and the LAPD make sure that you don't end up without garbage dumps anymore because we vacationers bring a lot of money to your country and cities but we spend less and less of it because it is so dirty and littered but you live from us vacationers and from tourism so you can also expect it to be reasonably clean and not on every corner If you're approached by the homeless, you've got a dollar for me. That's terrible. Being approached over and over again by the homeless is especially bad on the beaches. You have to be careful that nothing gets stolen by the homeless and the police have to patrol more Walking and driving to get away from work because otherwise vacationers would like to go somewhere else and spend their money there😂😂😂
