Hey Was, thanks for checking it out. At the airport the water taxi stand is right next door as an alternate to the regular taxi stand. When we exited the airport we walked towards the area and were approached by a salesman who offered the ride. At first it seemed pricey, about 125 euro IIRC but when I compared it to the cost of the water bus x2, the effort to drag our bags from the water bus stand to the hotel, the time spent on the water bus (about an hour of stops and transfers) etc it began to seem like a better value since the taxi literally took us from the dock at the airport to the dock of the hotel (Starlight Venice) in downtown Venice. As a bonus it turned into a variation of the gondola rides since we were negotiating the same waterways at about the same speed. Our water taxi driver was a very capable Austrian who did a really nice job. Enjoy your trip!
Were you able to choose between a wooden boat or a polyester one? I am thinking to reserve mine upfront, but looking at the different companies and options.
i just walked much of this area today july 12 2022 . some of these taxis are gorgeous leather interiors, crystal bars, however i live here for a month and water taxis aren't in my budget. i would always choose to move around the canals by water at night, far less crowded. the amount of gondolas has become like tourists, ridiculous.
Not really that bad, needed to get from the airport to the Starhotel on a canal. If you take a waterbus you have to get off at a dock, drag all your luggage over bridges and down alleys to your hotel. We walked to the watertaxi stand at the airport, boat captain loaded up our bags, wife got to ride in comfort and it took us straight to the hotel for 100 euros. Pretty brilliant! 100 euros makes me rich? In Venezia?
