Chef I made this today! Was extremely delicious. What shocked me was how light it was! I was scared the stew was gonna become too thick because of the cornflour but it did not! The stew was very light and it went very well with today's Tiffin: Appam. Appam is more common in my family menu compared to Idiyappam. I highly recommend ppl try this! We are family of three, mom dad and myself. But I made for six ppl and stored the rest in fridge for tomorrow haha. To easily make coconut milk: cut coconut into small pieces and use whipping mode to make shredded coconut. Then pour ice water and blended. Squeeze out the coconut milk and it's ready ^^. You can also make second and third extract by adding additional water every time. But more than three extracts its' not recommended. And if you feel coconut oil smell is too strong try buying from oil mill! Sekk ennai is very light and nutritious. I do not like cooking with coconut oil but the coconut oil from oil mills are very mild in scent and taste not very strong! Thank you for teaching this recipe!

Different method sir, my mom will prepare with rice idly in idiyapam machine, ( before 20 yrs ). when we are in Salem. But now in hyd. I will definitely try your method.
Awesome recipe, Sir. Kozhakattai maavu and idiyappam maavu are they both the same ? How do they differ? Even as you made the idiyappam was the maavu really hot ? Can we hold the acchu or will it be hot on the outside ?

I was never successful with soft idiyappam all these years.. tried your recipe and it worked out great.. the idiyappam was as soft as a flower.. thank you for sharing Sir..
