@@marco16202 that one isn't the same level of Influence as Black Metal. Loads of American. English, German and Brazilian bands changed their sound after hearing this album
@@fatboydashredder9877 yeah maybe you're right, but still, I think this is the first extreme metal album (even tho it's not as influential as the next one)
@@AgentLemmon Show No Mercy is good but they were heavily inspired by Venom. Kerry said he still remembers hearing BM the first time and changing his sound.
There's nothing like these old school bands. It's the time when I was a teenager and I started to listening to this music, it blew my brain out of the skull, now I'm 51 and still listen to this music
Damn, when I listen to the song, "Black Metal" it takes me back to the summer of 1985 when I bought the vinyl copy of the Black Metal album. I just turned 19 and was working at a new Burger King located at Roeser and Central in South Phoenix. I am 57 and the Burger King is a Checkmate Cash/Loans office nowadays.
@@corrupted_realm We can't know for sure, but it would have been very, very different without Venom. I'm super grateful that Venom helped turn Extreme Metal into what it is today. Though they haven't released anything good in many years

I agree. Venom was one of the gateway bands from mainstream to metalcore and hardcore punk for me in the mid 80's. This includes the early death metal of the time.
A friend gave me a cassette with Venom's 'Black Metal' on one side, and Slayer's 'Haunting The Chapel' on the other. I fell instantly in love with this sound, and still love it to this day. Black Metal Gods' Rock and Roll~!
@@alex-rs7zj I used to be plain old 'midnightkitty' but then one day, I had '8172' tacked on the end of my username, and it's been that way ever since. No one ever explained it, I didn't even get to pick out the numbers, and I still have no idea what it means.
This paved the way for so many bands I love...thanks guys ...thank you , and Judas priest , and black Sabbath and kiss and deep purple and Dio for the devil horns...and so many more...
no 8° ano o professor deu um trabalho sobre musica, era pra cada um mostrar uma mhsica e falar sobre o movimento e as influências que elas tiveram, eu e meu amigo apresentamos black metal, geral ficou em shock
I first heard Venom in the late 80s, Venom, the first thrash band, but it's not thrash, it's wild and immensely powerful, blows the competition away and if they hadnt had some poorer albums who knows where they would be! it has an old fashionedness that I love. Also some of the new Venom Inc stuff is brilliant, Mantas the most underrated guitar player ever, just wish Cronos was singing on the new songs.
Black Sabbath were the first to make sound commercially about occult stuff, there's no question about that. But they were always at a distance, Geezer still says that today. Venom have been around since the late 1970's and their first album (Welcome to Hell) in 1981 had a mixed heavy metal and punk sound, very dirty, very heavy for the time and obviously satanic. The second album was then the namesake of a new type of music. In the end it doesn't give a damn how it was later interpreted by the Norwegians. The term BLACK Metal comes from Venom. You can't take that away from them.
I'll grant that they were never the global commercial success that Black Sabbath were, but as far as being the first with occult themes, Black Widow's debut record Sacrifice came out about the same time as Sabbath's, and that is full-on Satanic/occult in its lyrical themes. The music was more psychedelic, though. Also, I think too much was and is made of Black Sabbath's penchant for occult and Satanic lyrics/imagery. Sure, they mention the devil in a few songs, but they were never "advocates" for satanism or the occult.
@@Broccoli_Highkicks Occult themes has been around since the 50s. Even before "The King" came into fruitition. They were called "Visual Graphic Artists" but it was very satanic if you put a 70s brain on it. (we now would call it avant garde)
@@TheBfutgreg I said Jeff Hanneman said that so go ask him, but you must have missed that with your keen intellect. By the way he's from slayer and he's dead.
