The intro and outro alone could be short movies. Some serious thought went into the wording alone and despite how great this song is, it would be incomplete without the intro/outro
Metal needs to go back to this, tired of all the super downtuned Djent guitar and incomprehensible fry vocals. That stuff can be cool, but let’s go back to kickass riffs and actual story telling.
I agree. Classic Metal has always represented what Metal means to me, personally. I’m not really into a lot of the newer approaches that certain bands have in modern death metal, black metal, and even modern thrash.
@@gurrenmed5319 I agree I’ve found good modern metal bands, but the largely well known among the community just haven’t captured that magic for me personally like all the great bands of yesteryear. Some of my favorite modern bands are Stoned Jesus, Howling Giant, and Mastodon
I loved this masterpiece from day one in ‘84. It pissed me off when reviews said it was almost good & it failed. It should have been hailed as VENOMS finest work & it’s good to see people getting into it now.

On more then one occasion, I searched for this song on those digital Jukebox's often located in bars / restaurants. After selecting this song, I would sit back and wait. I cannot explain the expressions on peoples faces when the song came. Tow of the Three occasions, the owner or manager pulled the plug. Me and my friends demanded our money back and vowed never to return to the bar again. The downside, we had to find another bar that served $2 Pabst or Old Milwaukie's.
No other track has got me like this one....there´s something truly unique and dark about it....this was THE track that totally spellbound me and made me Venom-fan for life

Venom is by far, the best metal band to ever exist. I say this with decades of metal experience. There are no rivals. Venom rules from their perched landings and there isn't shit anybody can do about it. Accept Venom or fuck right on off!! We aint playing anymore!
The complete structure, with changes of slow to fast to slow, small dream sequences, it picks up, then new riffs, ...it constantly unfurls the whole way. This is an epic journey/tale basically.

Bought this 14 or 15 years old. Listened to on Sanyo Hi Fi separates, 80 Watts, right in the full sized cans. Well past the "Health and Safety" limits. Blew my tiny little mind. Still does.
I am a christian man, but i must admit, this is a truly masterpiece, indeed no more words for this brutal black metal music. All my respect to satanic bands and satanic people. Besides religion we were all people with feelings and thoughts.

First time I heard this was 1984 or maybe 85, I was tripping on LSD in a friends basement. Just sitting there listening and silently tripping balls. So many good times on acid. It was always an adventure of the mind. No regrets.
The song shows it all, the twisted circle, infinity, Around it all goes in a slightly perfect imbalance all the time tightly woven/knitted (Yin and Yang) continuous war... Brilliant ;)
I had this vinyl. I could open the folder and see a burning crucifix... I discovered his albums chronologically, in the mid '80s. This is my favorite. Unique and original.
I'm Christian. Grew up on Chronos, Mantas, and Abaddon. I love this work the performance is not, or ever will be, outmatched. All three of them, busting out to the limit, the whole way.

I was at a catholic school some time before this master piece and one funky morning after the break was over I stormed up the stairs to not be late in class... and bumped into the principal called SISTER ADELGUNDIS... she looked me deep in the eye full of typical catholic hatred... ate my soul... converted me to SATANISM... and scared the shit out of me that females can grow such an ugly moustache... anyways... years later I got hold of this marvel piece of art and started worshipping the devil on a daily base... I hope this and a couple other of venoms songs get used in sci fi action flick. Imagine a movie about this album, with the movie centered around the song. Opening credits with Manitou walking in sunburnt hell, with that drumbeat. Then working its way to the climax with a full on battle between heaven and hell with this song playing in the background, but really fucking loud. Id go see it....
