Well as silly as the Carnage hacking the laptop is, in the comics he once projected himself through the internet and came out of someone's computer to kill them.

A lot of people missed how doctor strange spell pulled people that knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man, the thing is Eddie Brock never knew Peter Parker neither did venom. But venom mentioned how he has hive knowledge from across the multiverse meaning he knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man due to the venom variant in raimis Spider-Man 3

The reason the cops eyes were all weird at the end was because he has his own symbiote now, he was toxin the son of carnage in the comics

The whole thing with Venom mentioning the hive not only explains his appearance in No Way Home but also hints at the larger symbiote mythology established recently by Marvel. The idea is the symbiotes are a hive mind ruled by an ancient evil entity named Knull whose purpose is to extinguish all of creation. It could also tie into the MCU with Christian Bale playing Gorr in Love and Thunder. That character has an amorphous weapon that can kill gods which is revealed to be a primal symbiote created by Knull

The humor in this is a perfect match for the first lethal protector run. Venom has always been goofy when Eddie is his host with a few exceptions. Venom comics mostly have nothing to do with Peter besides that being his orgin like he is not a villain and has not been for like maybe 20 years

I legit love these movies ngl they're just so fun in a turn off your brain way! It's like a little Venom diorama, completely separate from the comics but still nice to look at.

I have watched this movie a few times now and I think it is sped up by 10%. Some recent movies use that method with action scenes but I think this is the whole movie. When I slowed it down to 0.90 it felt more like a normal pace movie with exception to the Carnage scenes, which I thought were noticeably more terrifying, like a horror movie! Try it yourself and see how it affects the movie for you.

I love venom, both this and the first movie. There was some up and downs but in the end I have fun watching it!

Unironically strangely ,Both carnage hacking the internet and the Carnage tornado and symbiote eating brains,chocolate or chickens are all the accurate things from the comics. That being said it's still wierd as shit to be in the movie lol.

They got the visual qualities of Carnage down, with him morphing out of Kasady where as Venom forms Around Eddie, and Carnage's shape-shifting weapons and his body so the bullets go through him. But they missed the relationship between host and symbiote, Carnage is meant to be a perfect fusion of the two to the point where symbiote and host are the same being, which is why they say "I" instead of "We", even in a Venom comic where Eddie's trapped on an Islands and gets taken over by the Carnage Symbiote and we see in his mind Eddie is caged up and it's Kasady who's speaking to him as the will of the Symbiote

The only thing that would’ve made the neon rave scene even better is if Eminem himself actually showed up and said Venom looked badass.

As long as they keep making these with tom hardy starring in the eddie and venom romcom, ill keep watching

Venom said that the symbiotes have a multiversal hivemind. Venom was sent to the MCU because he knows Peter Parker is Spiderman from the Venom Symbiote in Spiderman 3. It was Venom that was sent to the MCU not Eddie, Eddie was just sent together with Venom because he was hosting him at the time. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that.

Patrick "Paddy" Mulligan been infected by the symbiote and will become Toxin, the strongest symbiote of it's generation(1000th). A childish symbiote that is still learning right and wrong from a cop. Toxin is allowed 2-3 hours of "Playtime" every night, Toxin is not allowed to commit any acts of grand theft, arson, or homicide. He is also teased in Little Simz' art for her song "Venom" With the red torso and the black lower half of both symbiotes.(My theory)

So, I liked the humour of Venom and Eddie. But I have to heavily remove it from the Spider-Man comic version. I didn't like Cletus either, his bond with Carnage is meant to be even stronger than Venom's with Eddie and he is always stronger than Spider-Man and Venom, why they have to team up to fight him. But then I am a massive fan of Carnage.

I love how as soon as we saw Cletus with the slightly less distracting wig on, the other wig is thrown out.

I dont know why, but when Rick says he likes a movie that I also like, it makes me smile more than when the other guys say they like a movie.

I feel like there were definitely some things that would make more sense if the movie wasn’t cut down to 1.5 hours. Let’s be honest, that is not a natural movie length for an action movie that introduces so many new characters.

It's pretty normal and standard for symbiotes to crave either brains or chocolate actually. I remember this much, that Eddie in the comics did at times try to sate Venom's appetite for brains with lots of chocolate due to a shared chemical or something.

The Symbiotes have a multi-spacial hive mind. They share history, memories, existence across space and time so when Venom sees Peter he kind of remembers him possibly from another symbiote and another Spider-Man but he doesn’t remember the specifics, he just knows he doesn’t like that guy. Symbiotes can not live after they bond with a host, they both die if separated after the bonding. Carnage in this film wasn’t bonded with Cledus so their connection wasn’t as strong as Eddie’s with Venom is. If Marvel starts using a version of Venom in their films, I don’t see people caring about these films because it will make them look cheesy

The thing is, Venom has been "separated" from Spiderman mythos for quiet some time. Even going back to the 80s and 90s. They have a leg to stand on with him being away from Spiderman. Also, Spiderman can survive without ever running into Venom.

This movie was so ridiculous. I loved it.

Symbiotes are asexual and venom gave birth to him- hence “Father.” My only complaint is Cletus being so love sick out of jail and bonding / giving himself completely( corrrct me if I’m wrong it’s why he’s a red one ). He was so chilling & creepy in jail.

Symbiotes reproduce asexually. Their offspring just divide from them, and both parent and child try to kill each other. Each new generation is stronger than the last, so they're a threat to their parent's survival. In the comics, Eddie and Cletus were in neighboring cells at Rikers, and when Venom broke Eddie out of prison, he cut his hand and a jagged piece of broken wall. At that moment, Venom reproduced, and the new symbiote came out of the wound on Eddie's hand and latched onto Cletus in the next cell. Cletus and the symbiote shared the exact smae bloodlust, and their thirst for carnage was so in sync that they bonded at the cellular level. But eventually, Venom did kill the Carnage symbiote by separating it from Cletus and eating it. As for how Mulligan got infected, Carnage was holding him in place with a tentacle for an extended period of time while Mulligan had multiple cuts, so he got infected by osmosis.

If you read the books you know why his eyes were glowing blue, Carnage shed his own symbiote, look up Toxin

I agree 100% with Rick, Venom is pretty basic for me as well, nothing extraordinary but it's definitely not bad either, I feel like it's a bit too... overhyped in my honest opinion. But still enjoy it and will continue watching all the sequels regardless.

In the comics Eddie and Cletus are cellmates, Cletus was gonna kill Eddie, but right before the Symbiote came to Eddie and they broke out accidentally leaving a piece behind that bonds to Cletus, also in the comics not only is Carnage just stronger than Venom, but Cletus is so bonded with the Symbiote that they aren't separate beings he is Carnage that's part of his threat, his blood is the Symbiote, so wasn't a fan of the movies oh they aren't working together thing

I don’t understand how Cletus and Carnage aren’t a match when Carnage was literally made from Cletus’s own blood. We also observed that Cletus and Carnage are able to completely fuse together and separate their physical form. Carnage is also just as insane as Cletus and that’s what makes him Carnage. In the comics both don’t have any personal attachments and are both completely insane which makes them so dangerous. The movie was great don’t get me wrong, but I feel like they humanized Cletus and Carnage to much.

I just learned that Carnage became so big near the end because he grows by containing or consuming more blood, because Carnage is a mixture between Venom and blood.

I loved Rick's hair

Venom's hunger for brains is actually a biological thirst for phenethylamine, a compound the brain produces that positively affects mood. Which is a stimulant that symbiotes need to survive, they can't produce it naturally, and must acquire it from the human brain. Chocolate is another example of this compound. Also kinda disturbing to think about but what ever Venom eats Eddie pretty much eats. Venom just helps with its disposal and the constant spit that Venom is seen spitting out are the remains of the food he eats.

Carnage is my favorite Marvel villain, and they did him so dirty in this film. Carnage is supposed to have a complete, perfect bond. The Symbiote and Cletus are one being, hence he says “I” not “We”. They eluded to one comic where Carnage goes through the internet to kill people, but it’s done so in a way that pushes the plot forward and he actually does it, instead of it being a funny joke like it should’ve been. Cletus was played pretty well by Woody Harrelson, but I have to say, Carnage’s voice is NOTHING like the original or any other media, and he’s much larger than Venom, when he should technically be smaller. The Symbiotes kind of work with density instead of size, meaning that he’s stronger and smaller. Another gripe I had about this film was Shriek. I like that they made her Cletus’ love interest (even though as a psychopath, it should be very difficult for him to love anyone but himself) but her acting was way over the top and annoying. Also that scene of Anne and Mrs. Chen was so (I hate this word but) cringy, it made me pause the movie and skip over it. Seeing it in theaters was just… no.

Lol When this was filmed before any of them saw No Way Home. Good luck to Calvin and Rick who are waiting to watch No Way Home til it comes out on streaming.

I was really hoping for a much deeper dive into Eddie and venoms relationship and comparing that with carnage and Cletus. Then sort of a build up between their differences and their goals with a clash that wasn’t definitive in the sense that one or the other didn’t necessarily win. Instead they turned Cletus into a random nut job and he was wiped out in short order, made his villain aspect really pointless. I’ll still keep watching to see if things improve but I would like to see more focus on character development and less on just making a noisy film that aims to be generic action.

I enjoyed this movie as much as I liked the first movie. It wasn’t the greatest, but it was enjoyable and I wasn’t bored while watching it. That’s pretty much how I judge movies. 😂 (and I’m not a comic fan so if it’s nothing like the comics then I totally understand if people don’t enjoy this one)

In case you don’t know Patrick Mulligan- (The cop) in the comics is Toxin. He is the child of Carnage, therefore the grandson of Venom, and he is even more powerful than Carnage.

Carnage is child of Venom. Venom symbiote returned to break Eddie out of prison for his past crimes as Venom. Right next to his cell was Cletus Cassidy. When Eddie and venom reunited, venom was pregnant and left it offspring. Carnage then fell in Cletus Cassidy cell and fell into a cut that was on Cletus. Carnage fused with Cletus bloodstream.
