Hi! I'm An Scott. I'm a happily retired 70 year old woman with my “golden years” on the horizon, living the “good life”, whatever that is on any given day, with my fun husband Jeff, and our “bossy” little Yorkie, Bella.
We have recently moved from the USA to the beautiful south of France and made our new home in Nice France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country is no small “project”. Through my videos, we’ve been taking you through the process, sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape” and exploring the rest of the world around us, all the while, making every wonderful day, the best day ever…
SUBSCRIBE, FOR FREE, to my channel and come with us!

And of course, the wonderful musician at the entrance to the market. We regret that we didn't get his name, but we love his music!
Most of my videos are shot with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Note Ultra Smartphone and a circular ring light, as needed.

Nice day trip. Jeff that leather jacket was a steal! The Italian food 🥝🍓🥩market was the highlight for me. Looking forward to when you go back there and film everything for us including the prices of the food products so we can compare to prices back home. 🤔

You are absolutely amazing Ann. I've learned so much from your vlog and feel a lot more relaxed now about moving to France. I hope to run into you and Jeff in NIce soon, real soon. What I am a bit anxious about is figuring out how to buy tickets for various public transportations. Would you consider doing a clip on how to buy the train tickets, long distance buses, Zou bus, etc... Thank you, thank you.

This is awesome, An and Jeff! We spent lovely time in Nice last September/begininig October and ended up missing couple of trains like you did because of Rugby competition and a lot of Rugby fans attracted to French Riviera! Ha-ha! An, do you happen to remember the name of food market or at least where it is located? Thank you!

I don't remember the name of the covered food market but I do remember it was on the street leading back to the train station and not too far from the station. We're going back tomorrow. I will look for the name.

Thank you for your excellent video on Ventimiglia. I am planning to go after the Monaco F1. Monaco is too crowded in general with a lot of overpriced shops and restaurants. Trip Advisor had reviews all over the map on the market. One person stated he did not feel safe. Must be careful everywhere.

Amazing market in Ventimiglia ! Thank you for bringing us along.I've heard that its huge and many duplicate vendors. I always wonder when handbags / merchandise is being displayed on the ground where they came from. I believe most are knock off counterfeits. How where the prices of produce in the covered market that you went into at the end? Where they comparable to what you find in the local Nice markets? I wanted to mention that you need to be very careful at the Niceville train station. There are many pickpocket and thieves in those trains especially near the train doors. Last year i was going to Menton and several passengers we hit . They are casing their victims as they ride the trains.

I automatically assume if the handbags are on the ground they are counterfeit. Some look very very authentic though. I wouldn't buy one there. As far as prices at the covered market I didn't pay any attention to the prices. We are hoping to go back to the covered market tomorrow or Tuesday. So I'll be able to tell you more then. We are extremely careful at the train stations, everywhere. Everything is hidden and secure.

The market is huge! It does remind me also of Canal street in NYC. Don’t they also have the “fake goods” police in France? I heard that somewhere. Maybe they sell them in Italy and confiscate them in France! oh my!

I had heard years ago, from a friend who was a flight attendant for United, and flew to France often, that if you bring your knock-offs to France, from the US, you risk having them confiscated in customs, if you're picked for a random check (most of us just walk through). She told me United warns their flight attendants not to travel into France with knockoffs. With that in mind, when we were purging and packing in the US, I donated anything that came from Canal Street or elsewhere that I didn't buy in the designer's boutique. Didn't want to take any chances and I hadn't used any of them in many years. I bought them back in the day when I never dreamed I could afford to own the real thing , Now I only have authentic designer items purchased directly at the designer's stores. I believe at this market in Ventimiglia, there were quite a few sellers with fake purses just sitting on a sheet or blanket, just like corners in NYC, so they can quickly scoop everything up and run, if need be. There were some purses that looked like a designer purse design with maybe one small detail, but they didn't have a brand name on them. We didn't see any "fake goods" police anywhere, but maybe they were undercover. We didn't have anything to worry about so perhaps that's why we didn't know if they were around. I've seen a couple of people post on Facebook that they know of people who bought fakes at this Ventimiglia market and they were confiscated on the train. Who knows. Better to not risk it.

🍎An and Jeff, Fabulous, sunny, hot hot Summer day in our part of the world! Jeff looks very handsome in his new black jacket, but you guys have to learn very quickly the difference between fake and genuine leather because his nice jacket is not real leather. Real leather will have a label in clothing saying real leather, as the seller can make a lot more money if it's real leather. Leather has a distinctive feel and patina, not to mention a distinctive smell. It's not going to have a sheen like Jeff's coat. Real leather is made from the cow's skin and the process is very long to get the smell out of the skin and then dye it whatever color they're going to put on it. Even couches and purses these days if you don't know the difference will fool the naked eye if you don't learn the difference between genuine and fake. That goes for every consumer's product on the market as the seller's know only a few people can tell the difference, so they will say yes it's leather or it's real fur so they can sell it. Again real fur also has a distinctive feel and smell especially. Genuine leather furniture will be labeled genuine somewhere on the bottom of the piece or it has to say on the receipt if they're selling it for thousands of dollars that it's genuine. The same principle goes for antique furniture that they're making them look stained and scratched and dented to fool consumers that's it's real antique. So you just can't accept when you're buying something and they say yes it's real, you have to learn the difference. Now back to our schedule for making homemade tamales. Happy Watermelon Summer!🌴

Hello again. Thanks for your concern. We know fine leather. We own fine leather things that we spent a lot of time searching for over the years. Some we spent a lot of money on. Some we bought at consignment shops for far less. We know how to tell the difference between fine Italian leather, inexpensive leather, vinyl and faux leather. The coat Jeff bought is definitely real leather. It may not be the finest leather in the world, but he doesn't care. The coat was 30 euros. Cheapest leather coat he ever bought and he's happy with it. That's what counts. We have no doubts about what he purchased. And I've had mink coats and other real furs over the years. We are very educated people, very educated shoppers, in this regard. This is not our first market in Europe. I spent most of my life visiting NYC, In NYC, particularly Canal Street, one can become very educated on having an eye for the differences between real and fake things. If Jeff wanted a fine leather coat, the market at Ventimiglia is not a place he would have gone to look for one.
