I took a day trip to explore Ventura, California like a local. Stopping at the Ventura Pier, to a quintessential bike ride, walk through the botanical gardens, downtown, and a beautiful sunset, I discovered that Ventura might just be California's most underrated gem.

We live in France, and are considering moving to America, if we did, we would move to Ventura! What would you say that you do not like about Ventura?

@@trique9776 We love it here but there is a major housing shortage here right now, might not be so bad if you're prepared to buy. I have family in France!

@@trique9776 Just saying he showed the best parts of ventura. Most of it like the avenue will not look this nice, you will notice a lot of run down houses and shops in general that dont look super welcoming. Overall its not a bad place to be in, but its not what it looks like in this video everywhere in the city.

Ventura is home, born and raised. It's truly beautiful. Our fair has the same acts as the oc fair, but you don't pay a separate fee to see them. The beaches are the best in California. We are so fortunate to be here. Plus, our community is pretty great too. Lots of sweet people looking out for each other.

ventura oxnard those beaches are never crowded with santa barbara up north and la south no one goes to these beaches and there clean safe id call it a hidden gem

I love it there. Super chill, laid back vibe and plenty of parking everywhere. It is definitely way better than the now Santa Monica Slums!

I visited Santa Barbara and ventura, after having been in l.a. for a while, and I LOVE SB and V. there was an immediate cool, laid-back vibe to both. the most stereotypical LA, for me, was acrually outside LA, in SB and V.

You'll have to check out Oxnard on your next trip up the PCH. There's the Channel Island Harbor, walking path around Seabridge, food hall at The Collection, Oxnard Beach Park, and more.

I live in Seattle (20 years, not all together) but from the Washington DC area. I am getting older (57 next week) and am tired of cold, rainy winters. Ventura sounds great. Does Ventura have low-income apartments?

What causes it to be so much colder than the rest of CA? If Im walking around I like temps in the 60s but on the beach swimming I'd like 80s... is it too cold to be in a wet bathing suit on the beach or is it warm in the sun? Also, do you have any comment on a good apartment complex in the area? I'm learning toward the Wagon Wheel at the moment. $2500/moth is about my cap, and that's the cheapest apartments in the Wagon Wheel. Side note, I love the lizards too. I have a pet Tegu lizard, he actually hates high temperatures, he likes 75 and sunny so he should be happy in that area.
