1. Mr. Rabeel Warraich (CEO Sarmayacar)
Sarmayacar, the largest VC fund dedicated to Pakistan. After graduating from MIT, he began his career with Morgan Stanley after which he moved to GIC (a sovereign wealth fund established by the government of Singapore) where he invested in excess of $ 3 billion in private equity deals. In 2018, he moved back to Pakistan to set up Sarmayacar which has invested in 17 businesses to date, a number of which Rabeel is also involved as a Board member. Rabeel is also the first Kauffman Fellow originating from Pakistan.
2. Furquan Kidwai is the Founder & CEO of Dawaai Pte Limited. He is a health technology entrepreneur and a firm believer in the ever increasing role of artificial intelligence in the future of medicine.
Furquan has built the largest and fastest growing health technology company in Pakistan which is making access, authenticity, and affordability of healthcare a possibility.
Prior to this journey, Mr. Kidwai was an investment banker for over eight years in London and New York where, in his last role, was the Head of CEEMEA Financing as well as a Director in the Fixed Income trading business at the Royal Bank of Scotland. Before joining RBS, Furquan worked as an Associate at Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers in their London and New York offices. He has also served as a member of the Board of Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London.
Mr. Kidwai read International Relations for a Master's degree at Cambridge University. He also has an MSc in Financial Mathematics from Imperial College London and BEng in Computer Systems Engineering from Bristol University.
Venture capital has evolved from a niche activity at the end of the Second World War into a sophisticated industry with multiple players that play an important role in spurring innovation.
