It took me a while to warm up to Serena, but not Venus. First class champion from day one. Turned pro in 1994 and has been entertaining us on the tennis court for 3 decades.

Mary Carillo should've been put on blast a long time ago about her racist comments. I've watched these young ladies from the beginning of their careers and Mary was given a pass with her comments towards these ladies. Venus & Serena are forgiving and classy...never calling her out on her bs. She should've been fired and banned from calling matches a long time ago.
When it was stated Mr. Richard only allowed his daughters to practice with each other and practice with men, was powerful. When I was in martial arts, I was only allowed to spar the males. This allowed me to dominate my female opponents .

I saw the recent long interview with Rick, where he tells the origins story, but WITHOUT the coded racist language, WHILE ALSO being able to acknowledge that they were not rich and that they were, in fact, black people who were culturally different from him. This news report was just so full of cringe, classist, and coded racist language that it made my stomach hurt a little. It's like they grudgingly aconowledged that Venus was, in fact, living up to the hype....even while wearing beads and living in the boondocks😅
Saw some interview with their Mom, who said they were pretty comfortable before Venus & Serena. They tried to make Richard look greedy, but he kept proving them wrong through his actions.
Richard did have issues and still does. He introduced Yetunde, Venus's sister, to Compton's life and she got hooked, shot dead in a drug deal gone bad. She left three babies behind, with no fathers to care for them. Richard used his daughters like mules, to carry him to fortune and fame. Where was Yetunde in Richard's 84 page plan? Can you imagine Oracene's ambivalence about Venus and Yetunde's fates? All this money and grandchildren with no parents. Must be awful to be her. She divorced Richard. He married a woman 35 years younger and she took all his money and house. Sow seeds, reap.
