Hi everyone, I’m back again with another Type Lumina Guide. I’ve been wanting to make a Ciel guide for a while since she’s my favorite girl, so I’m glad I can finally present this to you all. Since Shield and Moon Drive are important mechanics I wanted to mention them more in my videos, and I think I was successful in doing so! I also decided to take a bit of a creative liberty at the end… I hope you enjoy!

ADDITIONAL NOTATION:
A = A attack
B = B attack
C = C attack
AT = Air Throw
MD = Moon Drive
j. = Jump (means you’re doing the move following the j. in the air)
jc = Jump Cancel
dl = Delay
IAD = Instant Airdash
X(Y) = Y hits of X(i.e 2B(2) means two hits of 2B)
[] = hold the button in [] (i.e 5[C] means hold C when you do 5C)
X = placeholder. When you see X, that means the button can be A, B or C. (i.e 236X can be 236A, 236B, or 236C)

Hello, Did the damage at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1037">17:17</a> in the video get nerfed? I'm getting 3709 damage or am i doing something wrong?

In the most recent patch (August 19), the damage of all Ciel's black key throw moves got reduced. since the combo uses the grounded and air key throws (and some air keys could miss sometimes), that's probably why the combo is doing less damage!

Hi everyone, it's been a while! Be sure to check the description for the link to the Ciel Doc and it's creator, TaxHaven. This video would have been a lot harder without their work on that document and credit will be given where credit is due! Also, shoutouts to the Melty Wiki! Now go out there and and spam some black keys!!!

Are some of the tutorial combos worth remembering? I only ask this because I don't want to think the combos here and the ones on the game are both optimal and I mess up my inputs in between. Like the 5[C] - 4C whereas the game doesn't show any conversions. I play Dantes for a long time so it would be better if I could practice these instead Just picked up Ciel so this information is needed😅

Hi I'm new to fighting games at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="407">6:47</a> it says 214X-A. What does "x" mean

X means more than one/any button. So with 214X~A, the X is there because you can do 214A or 214B, either one will work and the follow-up attack will still come out. If there's any more confusing notation, I have most of it listed in the description 👍

are there any big differences in the BNBs from this patch to the current one? btw thank you for this it wouldve been way harder to pick up melty if this guide didnt exist

I'm glad this video could help! As far as I know, the BNBs should be the same, but I don't think the optimal BNB I included in the video is the optimal one anymore. I don't use Ciel much, but in the description I have a Ciel Doc linked that's pretty up to date (last updated Jan 14) and since the May patch didn't have any big changes to Ciel, it should have what you need in case you want to check over some things!
