Vermilion City / Yokohama | Real Life Pokemon Location of Kanto Region (Japan) 

Boy oh boy, what a beautiful city Yokohama is! It is probably my favourite cities in Japan. No wonder why the 2023 Pokemon World Championships (Pokemon Worlds 2023) is being hosted here (first time Japan is a host!). Anyway, I digress! Welcome my friends to Vermillion City. I have been here many times, and it always did not feel like a Japanese city. Rather, it felt very American. Which reminded me, a port town in Kanto, with a strong American influence... Vermillion City. Home to Lt. Surge, the "lightning American", as he is described in the games in Gen I. It very much shares the culture of Yokohama, despite it being geographically in where Chiba City is. Though Chiba has no other redeeming features other than its location. But as I have stressed time and time again, in my journeys, culture is more important than geography. The real world is NOT the pokemon world. Some may argue otherwise, but it is not. The Pokemon world is a slightly transformed version of our world. So cities do not necessarily line up. There is a simple reason for this. GAME FREAK's task was to create a fun game, not an accurate world map. Anyway, digress again. Vermillion City is home to the notable port, housing SS. Anne. Yokohama Port allows many commercial ferries and cruise ships in and out every day. In fact, I boarded a historic one, that resembled the SS. Anne in many ways. I even made a special stop at a fun little place towards the end. Check it out!
