This is a perfect place to spend your lunch break. Just grab something to eat, go there for 30-60min for around $3 per 30min and just watch RU-vid, Eat, Relax in silence. I need this in my city.

Thanks for your videos, they are always very interesting and relaxing. I've stayed alone several times in Tokyo. When staying for a few days, frankly for a little extra money I still think is better to stay at a business hotel and sleep in a real bed with sheets and private bathroom. But for a few hours rest a place like the one in this video might be perfect.

It is good that you can get free drinks in the internet cafe. There is a big need for somewhere safe to lay down & rest for a while when travelling the U.K. Usually there is not even anywhere to leave your luggage. All you can do is drag your bags to the nearest cafe & sit there eating & drinking, even if really your back hurts & you desperately want to lay down.

In Japan, many homeless people (but with a bit of income) found their 'temporary home' in these net-cafes. They are now called 'net-cafe refugees'. It is definitely better than staying on the streets. Many net-cafes actually sell monthly payment options. They are much cosier and safer. Crimes are virtually unheard of. But I don't prefer these net-cafes as a replacement for proper hotels. For sleeping, they are still subpar. People over 30s will ruin their backs if they use these rooms too much. Rooms may cause claustrophobic feelings, and the air conditioners are controlled centrally so you need to ask on the counter desk each time you want to change the room temperature. The net-cafe shown in this video is the top-notch brand one. In other places, conditions may be worse (for example, many net-cafes don't have these noise-proof rooms, but only cubicles, so you must be careful not to make noises).

Most shops don’t allow unauthorized videographer to compare prices. Photos aren’t allowed either without asking first. And things and prices change daily. So by the time you come to Japan it won’t be as you saw in the video. The best thing is you just go to these shops. Btw, online prices and retail prices aren’t even the same and online sales and retail prices aren’t the same either. Best to just go to the shops and check them out yourself.

Unfortunately in my country (and I'm pretty sure in many US cities as well), people would just pay for the minimum of half an hour just to fill bottles with free soda, fill entire coolers with the ice cream and then steal a bunch of the manga. Not to mention how gross the toilets and showers would be left behind. The walls of the little cubicles would be marked with scratches and pens. The computers and accessories would be stolen within a week and it would probably become a very sketchy place with drugs etc.

I really wish my country had places like this. Tiny capsule hotel beds for $30, little rooms you could rent to just read, sleep or chill in. But, if places like capsule hotels and these rooms existed, they would be run down, filthy, nowhere youd want to rest your body. People would destroy them or use them to do drugs. Youd never see anything this nice and clean unless you paid over $100 USD a night for a regular hotel room.
@kwj_nekko_6320
@kwj_nekko_6320 Год назад
Actually these net-cafes of Japan are also used by homeless people as temporary home (if they have a bit of income). Many net-cafes sell monthly payment options for homeless people. Thanks to the safety measures and overall tendency of good crime security, crimes are virtually unheard of. But still, the workers in net-cafes occasionally encounter the 'lowest bums', including downright schizophreniacs or even illegal drug users.
@childofcascadia
@childofcascadia Год назад
Yes. And they are still cleaner than anything you see in my country, you want a clean hotel, youre paying $100 a night. Homeless people here just die on the sidewalks because theres no cheap accomadations or places to wash yourself or your clothes. Our homeless shelters are lice and flea ridden disease vectors where youre as liable to be stabbed for your shirt as you are to find a place to sleep. Every country has homeless people. Ive seen them in Japan. What im stunned at is how clean these little capsule hotels are even if they are frequently inhabited by the lowest rung of society.
@kwj_nekko_6320
@kwj_nekko_6320 Год назад
@@childofcascadia yes, I think it's a good thing that homeless people are given this kind of option if they can still secure some income. Easy access to showers, crime-free and warm sleeping places, and some food. But meanwhile, the maintenance workers of the net-cafes may be exposed to extra burdens. This is a quite common pattern throughout the society (service workers are emotionally overburdened).
@childofcascadia

That is also very true, that service workers take on the brunt of the thankless jobs for very little pay.
