An example of the dynamic soundtrack system with Vermintide. All credit goes to Richard Beddow, Ian Livingstone, Richard Wells, Simon Ravn, Tilman Sillescu, Tim Wynn, and all other musicians involved in creating this epic soundtrack.
I’m a servant of the great horned one, and no matter if I’m playing as the verminous hordes or I get attacked by 4 full stacks of skaven, when the throat melody comes on at 1:52 I always sing along
@@LexLikesCoffee Within the first 40 turns (Because Krok-Gar managed to trap one of my skavenslave stacks), I had ~10k in the form of 6 armies. Queek was the only one with Sturmvermin with the rest being Skavenslaves.
playing skaven really captures the feeling it should. huge undisciplined tides of filthy animals slamming into outnumbered enemy armies, intermittently routing and then running back into the fray, losing thousands of troops more than the enemy and still winning
My first ever WHII campaign as Teclis, doing his Warcrown of Saphery quest... that’s what I got the achievement for winning a battle outnumbered 10 to 1.... and this song was playing a LOT. Loved it.
I first noticed this theme near the end of my first campaign when Skaven doomstacks besieged my cities. Seeing hordes of Skaven overwhelm all my defenses and pour into the city while hearing a crescendo like 06:00 play... So stressful, so fricking epic!
I was playing a game as the lizardmen and right as they took out my stegadon and all my lizards started fleeing, it started playing the part at 2:26. Absolutely devastated me because it took out my main army with Kroq-gar but it was an awesome thing to witness.
I completed a Vortex campaign with High Elves and during one of the rituals I had the Pheonix Gate besieged by no less than 3 seperate Skaven spawned armies. Those were some of the most tense and dramatic fights I had throughout the whole campaign as my defenses were drowned in a mass of screaming ratmen. Luckily I held out but just barely. Those are the fights you play Total War for.
I keep trying the different races and factions, but holy fuck ever since playing Skrolk and defending Onyx from countless waves, outnumbered and using the home defense to my advantage to bottleneck foes into utter fuckening, then buying Skryre and going nuts with rattling guns and jezzails, I never have such a grin playing the game as I do a Skaven. Particularly now I have an addiction to Skryre and our favorite chief warlock of Skavenblight. This song encapsulates the feeling of "you underestimated my ratpower, here's a nuke, a shitload of "tragic deaths" for clanrats, and a green barrage of bullets and explosions. Skaven best faction yes-yes.
The chanting is still so quiet and subtle. In the original, it was almost so quiet as to be unheard, and certainly too quiet and drowned-out to be decipherable, which was a super thematic touch, I thought. Gives a skulking, scurrying edge to this already rabid and feral-sounding track.
I remember Mandalore's video when he said that soundtracks are pretty good but none stood out to de point of catching yourself humming them when you are not playing and i was like "WTF i have ALL skaven music memorized" Tbh the only other game i've seen to capture the essence of a race/faction as well as TWW captures the skaven is Warhammer: Mechanicus.
This song always makes me ask the very important question "Should we run? Flee?" whenever I am in total domination and the enemy can't even route with the suppressive fire going on from all the ratlings.
This theme is brilliant because it feels amazing when you ARE the Skaven drowning your opponent in a sea of bodies, warp lightning and crimes against nature, but when you're up against it, it makes it very dramatic. I remember defending an imperial fort from 3000 of the devils with the typical artillery backup to wave after wave of a variety of vermin and barely making it out alive, this music made the experience even more harrowing. Really put the pyrrhic in pyrrhic victory. But for a steam tank and the layers of the fort's defences I'd have been done.
@@agoodboy2489 Honestly, I suspect he is nearly psychotic with exhilaration and crazed, sadistic glee. He gets to shoot-blast nasty things and imagine that he rules all Skaven under an iron claw for that moment when he rakes their line-formation with blessed torrents of Warpstone. He kill-kills disgusting things painfully and horribly without having to get close and risk being maim-gouged. What more could any Skaven want in that particular moment?
So I gotta say, to all my Skaven brethren we all know why it is so amazing to play the Skaven and shout out to my boy Queek Headtaker. As well as why more commanders and warlords should choose to play as Skaven armies. We Skaven are the underdogs or in this case underrats of Lustria and though we are weak and frail, we are many. Many of times of swarmed the mightiest of elf-thing armies and the most powerful of lizardmen. Even outnumbered, my Stormvermin do not fail. For under my whip and leadership, even the most craven of Rats turn into the most harden of warriors. And should we put aside our petty rivalries and squabbles and unite under one banner then we are more than an army and more than a horde of Ratmen. We are a force of nature that not even the most disciplined of elf-things or the most ferocious of lizards can stop. And until the world is corrupted by our vermin and filth and the world fallen to our great lord the great horned rat, we will not cease to war on the other races. For the world may cast our kind aside as a small threat and just a pest, it is in their underestimation and negligence towards us that will be their downfall. I, Tik-Tik the great warlord serving under lord Queek am matched only by the Headtaker himself. We must Unite my fellow rats, though there are many of us we have yet to be all Unified. Join me my fellow Rats! Not under the banner of clan pestilence or clan skryer, and not even just under my own clans banner the great clan Mors. Join me and fight under the one true Banner, the Skaven Banner!!! And may the world fall to our verminous Desires and whims!!!! More stuff! More heads! More glory for Skavendom!!!! HAHAHAhHaHAHa!!!!!!!!
AGREED, YES-YES. Say my-my verminous brother, would you like to see-gaze at this stack of warpstone I got for you-you? A gift, for this awesome speech-speech, yes yes! Just look and admire at this, don't look behind you yes yes
@@bongibot1104 Ah yes-yes fellow warlord! A good-good pile of warpstone you have! power our DOOM machines with warpstone yes-yes!!! We must join forces fellow warlord! And together, Lustria will belong to Skavendom!!!
@@juyver11 yes yes, only one issue with master plan-scheme of DOOOOM *stabs you repeatedly* LUSTRIA WILL BE MINE, AH HA HA HA! *I* WILL BE WARLORD, NOY ANYONE ELSE
Yes-yes! We never fail-lose! I am content to die-die on the hill of skavendom! For clan moulder, for the vermintide! Open the laboratories! Unleash all-all beast-monsters! Ha, haha, HAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
The other day I made some tests in order to stop Ancient Stegadon and Mazdamundi in mount spam, after a lot of tests I managed to kill them with 12 warp cannons, a barebones Skrolk and 4 stormvermin formations to block the stegadons from rushing my artillery and even then it was a very close thing, I really hope CA bring Stormfiends and rattling guns in the coming DLCs, they will be much appretiated if they come with AP damage.
0:35 - the sound of me hecticly casting warp lightning onto enemies while sweating as my skavenslaves are melting away (partly due to my own warp lightning).
@@Lex-bb2tb for anyone scrolling this years into the future, staying in a high Skaven corruption territory for too long gives you this trait and it's a pretty bad one. You can remove it by defeating a Skaven army though (and this includes settlement garrisons such as that one ruins that's hiding a Skaven settlement).
Just got back playing this game some time ago. My already badly damaged army was ambushed by 3 stacks of skaven army. I defeated the initial waves but suffered heavy casualties. The third stack runs into map in full force, just as this music started playing. 10/10
When you're rolling around with a doomstack and get ambushed by the Skaven....and the balance of power music is playing Skaven music 😬 Saving your disaster battle incoming
Hello! congratulations for the work all first! it's hours I'm looking for an ost of chaos. to be precise, the one where in the background you hear a chorus, you only hear while we are on the campaign map using the norsca or the chaos warriors. if you've already loaded it, could you tell me what it's called? in the displaced case, would you rather upload it? (sorry for my English).
Put the speed to 1.25 and you got jeff van dyck vibes I prefer Richard Beddow though over Jeff's music As great as Jeff's music is, Beddow captures the spirit of what the games are about, and he's come a long way from the shitty empire total war music Jeff is great as making things fast and intense, but that intensity can vanish after a while and the music just becomes noise sadly
