A real mufucka like Max gon respect when you keep it 💯 guarantee his reaction was more explosive not being told opposed to being told ahead of time. Know who you dealing with
@@702TifosiGamblerI’m not saying he is or isn’t, but being a hot head doesn’t make you real. This entire clip he waffles back and forth between being accountable and playing the victim. You’ve gotta stand on one side of the fence.
@@Patawon now being a hot head doesn’t make you real but Max has proven he’s authentic and that’s what I care about, real or not real doesn’t move the needle for me. He’s authentic and he’s recounting a story that further confirms that
@Patawon I don't understand when he was a victim or when he played like he was a victim because he took accountable for the way he acted and missed the bag. Name 1 person that has talked shit about Gary Payton other than Vernon Maxwell?
Man, I sure love hearing his viewpoint. He’s got an authenticity and honesty that makes him so relatable. He owns his mistakes, but still is emotional about his misgivings as well the way he was mistreated. I hope he does more of this stuff!
The nickname Mad Max fit him very well. ain't no question about that. My all time favorite memory of him is Game 3 in Phoenix down 0-2. He saved the series. No doubt about it.
@@vickmcfadden833 Yeah team got old and slow traded off all the young talent. But we did finally beat Seattle because of Barkley. I haven’t forgotten that.
Vernon Maxwell keeps his stories honest from being slapped himself to slapping a fan to talking $h;+ to Jordan to asking Jordan to take a picture with his son to owning all of his choices in the NBA......
I was leaving a friend's house one day and as I was getting in my car a white Ferrari pulls up.. Vernon Maxwell gets out of it. I was stunned but my friend introduced me to him. He was the coolest basketball player I ever met at the time. He even let me look inside his car lol
I loved maxwell, Ottis thorpe, Kenny smith, Robert horry, buck johnson, sleepy floyd, Sam cassel, Matt Bullard, Mario Eli, Derrick chevvis, and later on Clyde the glide with the dream Olajuwon of the 90s rockets team was fun to watch
For 20+ yrs I've been said that Clyde should ve moved to the SF 3spot and kept Max at the shooting guard . Clyde was a strong 6'7 they could've made it work with Horry at Power Forward
@jfinns13 more like best all around players . Where as he was stronger than most 2guards and more quicker athletic than most small forwards in his Prime. Eventhough on paper he was a shooting guard at 6'7 however his playstyle was like a dynamic SF or even point forward with his passing skills & court vision
@@carlwallace1129 he played with solid pgs and small forwards. He was not a point forward. He played his position better than everybody. He was relentless.
@jfinns13 true he wasn't a point forward but he was strong like a SF (wing)at 6'7 in his era and distributed the ball smooth like PG with his great court vision
We love Vernon in Houston but the 95 Rockets were struggling out of the gate. Vernon lost his starting job and got pissed. I get it. He was a major component of the team. However, that Clyde trade ended up being (Arguably) the best mid season trade of all time considering the immediate dividend was a Title that same year. I Can't think of another trade that brought a title to a team, the same season, in any sport.
Happy that Clyde was able to be apart of championship team. All those times coming up short in finals. He had very good production in that 95 playoff run as well. Well rounded game. Gave Hakeem lot of help.
Maxwell is smoking dust. He sounds like a complicated teammate which he really was. I got mad props for that 95 team. A 47 win team went through 4 straight 60 win teams on their way to a back to back. Rockets weren't winning nothing with Maxwell and Drexler basically buried him at the end of the bench
I ran into Max several times in the HOOD, I’m talking bout the trenches, smoking weed and shooting dice and 2,days later I’d see him on TV dropping 21🤷🏿♂️….he’s everything he says he is-- HOUSTON💪🏾
I heard from what Max said ,that one of the reason Is he left the rockets is that is he beet up a White person because he offended a member of his family ( for what I understand and approve. If I was in Vern place, and someone talked shit, about my loved ones and family. Regardless off what race, ethnicity or religion is I probably react like him), but is shitty than no one of his teammates stood behind him. I know that , this is only Vernon's side of the story. But if his teammates, said that they were was his side, and than they lett him down when it mattered. Than VM did the right thing. F all of them. One question to the all of the participants of the podcast: I read and kind of get to that the majority of the NBA players, get racist slurs from the crowd. And probably there are many owners ( governors) racist. But I want to know is in the time of their playing career ( Mad Max, Shred and Bonzi) was there any players and coaches a racists. Don't matter what color there are, black, white , yellow, red or others.
Mad Max was the man. Loved watching him play. Loved his fire. Favorite Rockets team was the team before the team.... 93 Rockets. We got hosed in Seattle. Would have loved getting the opportunity to play the Suns for the chance to play the Bulls for everything. That team was ready. We wouldn't have to have these conversations about whether we could have beat Jordan's Bulls.
❤ 🙏🏻🙏🏻I talked ta Max about this at a club over some drinks in 1996 in Portland Oregon what a hell of a night hanging with him and Blazers crew and I was clowning Dominique Wilkins about his black turtle neck hitting on 21 22 year olds it was funny as hell but the sports reporters did a whole segment on Max and he was unaware of the episode and how the guy admitted to sating what he said about his still born daughter but now people knew rhe truth and the sprts reporters cast had alot of sympathy and understanding about it u let him know about it in the most respectful way and he really appreciated from me bought me a drink and went dancing with some ladies and had alot of laughs and great times that night with everyone always wondered if he remembers me telling him about that getting sympathy and understanding finally from the sports world and NBA fans as news I'm sure got around I just know I was the first ta let him know about it as I belive it was on the morning before the gane that night in Portland ❤Much love always Vernon❤
I get that Maxwell was upset that he was no longer a starter, but Drexler was a Hall of Famer. Maxwell, though quite a character, was a struggling role player who was lucky to be on such a strong team. He could have played in a second NBA championship series. He never had a team like that again.
RAW SHAW STERLING HIGH SCHOOL CLYDE IS HTOWN - VERNON WAS ALWAYS AT SCOTT GERNERS ON RICHMOND BUT FIRST HE WENT TO 3 WARD TO GRAB SOME CHRISTINA AGUILARA
Mannnn he was being very honest and humble and willing to let his pride down when he admitted he mistakenly lost his opportunity to get his money that next year……
When i was in the military saw lots of guys like Max get booted out the service. Some had emotional and mental issues that got magnified while on active duty ( there's lots of stress in the military ) and they'd do very strange and freaky stuff ( like Max did )then discharged. Then you had the guys who had discipline issues, always doing either stupid &&&& or doing drugs to purposely get kicked out, because they hated being in the military.
If they had handled the situation better, and kept Mad Max playing in just a little bit smaller role, then maybe they would have had enough firepower the following season in 1996 to be more competitive against the Sonics when they got swept! Most of those games were competitive with only one blowout if I remember correctly so maybe Max added to that team pushes them to win some of those close games. If they don't get swept that year or if the won that series and advanced then maybe Horry and Cassell don't get traded for a past-his-prime Barkley in 1997!
Love Mad Max but he was a hothead. He quit on the team when they needed him the most. But he's still loved in the H and will forever be an H-Town legend.
Max will always be an integral part of Htown’s first title. Would’ve been great to keep him. Would’ve made us a better team, and maybe we Run it back for a 3rd. Loved his spirit, and his D.
I was at the game when Harden got an MVP presented to him a few years ago. I was in the 3rd row from a friend who got tickets from his job. I forgot what game it was, it wasn't in the playoffs though.
I looked it up. It was October 17th 2018 vs the Pelicans (when they still had Anthony Davis) which was the start of the new season. Rockets lost that game.
I understand what he’s saying I’m glad the some of these leagues are allowing the players to be around during suspension, you want these men & women to buy in be treat them like trash
I was 10 then but bro nba showdown 94 Vernon got replaced by Sam cassell. And that's cap. I was there in Texas. Rob and Kenny and ole Otis was them guys
MANU IS SUPERSTAR. MAXWELL IS JUST GUY WHO SOMETIMES CAUGHT FIRE. U OBVIOUSLY ARE DERANGED SHALL I CALL GINOBILI TO TAKE 3 GOLD AGAIN FROM USA AND OVERRATED DUNCAN WADE BRON MELO ??
I’ve heard enough too! And me neither, Drexler was a much better player & wasn’t an issue like this dude either. Imagine how many rings Glide & Dream could’ve perhaps won together if they were together sooner.
@@treyneal8837 he said he played 1 minute. he actually played 16. why would I need to see the game to point out he's full of shit. He wasn't nearly as good as he thinks and he was a shitty teammate. Rockets kicked his ass to the curb and did just fine without him.
I love Max. He’s one of my favorite rockets, but I think at that time in the playoffs he would’ve been too much of a disruption and they wouldn’t have won that second title.
Maxwell shot the Rockets out of series before and he could also catch fire and be a big contributor to the teams success. Overall he was kind of a break when player when it comes to contribution, but he was the 2nd leading scorer in the 94' Finals... 13ppg on 36% FG!
So they draw up a game winning 3 point shot for you with 2 seconds left and you’re not trying make it ? Love max but come on bro, you was trying to make that shot, prolly wasn’t in the right space mentally to make it. That’s more understandable
I would never forget Maxwell white Ferrari.. I was 15 years old and do some lady females talk shit to him. His big hand over my head shaking told me they’re talking to you. I said nope they’re talking to you.
Luv mad max. But he did it to himself. Back then he didn't wanna take responsibility for what he done. Put yourself in the situation then try to play the victim. We all was young & did it. Some old ppl still do it now
Mad Max was a player yeah Dream was unstoppable but Maxwell was the heart and soul of the team! They could have moved Clyde to the 3 and had a great team that could have won 3 in a row
Bringing inClyde was the right move and so was Max for moving on. His pouting was cancerous. Clyde was the better player and the only all-star Hakeem ever had around him besides Sampson.
He probably didn’t play u because at the point you had proven to be unreliable….not blaming u for smacking the white boy but still u smacked a white boy and we needed you for the season.
