He was a Navy brat who moved around a lot and didn’t spend any formative years in Florida. Most of those years were in Woodbridge, VA and he went to high school in Manassas, VA

I'm 42 and a native Houstonian. Always apprecied what Max brought to the game, but him claiming he's the best ever out of Florida is the the most Vernon Maxwell thing ever. My guy needs to lay off the booze and reefer.

@@dy120481 I think it wasn’t clear, but Max may have been talking about pre-NBA, who was the best players to come out of Florida. And based on his accomplishment at UF, he has a legitimate claim that he was the best

The interviewer tried to clarify when he brought up high school, college (even whittling it down to UF), and the pros, and VM still said he's the best out if all of 'em. He's not the best high school player. He's not the best college player. And he's damn sure not the best pro.

@MikeStivic-b1i you play who's in front of you... averaging 40 is not easy, especially when there's no 3pt line. If it was easy, more ppl would have done it. I just appreciate the feat for what it is. For example, I find Kareem's scoring record more impressive than Lebron's (and I'm a LeBron Fan) simply because it took 30 years for somebody to break it and he set it with only 1 made 3pointer out of 1 made attempt his entire career. That's no easy feat. So when we're looking at records, I just appreciate them for the record, I only start looking at the fine details when we start comparing ppl. Which I'm not doing right now.

@2H2521 yea Starks evolved to be much better but back in 1988 Starks got cut from the Spurs training camp that Maxwell got draft to (same position). Max was never focused nor as driven as Starks but he lost a spot to max tho

@@carlwallace1129 Doesn’t matter, they were 2 completely different players along with the fact that Starks wasn’t even drafted yet me made the most out of it & was a far better player. The Spurs also dumped Maxwell the season after you’re talking about, he made a career out of causing problems, drama & chaos on any team he was ever on, hated by almost everybody. He was a very dysfunctional player & seems the same as a person. He even wanted to smoke & shank some of his own teammates along with assaulting a fan, pretty disgusting behavior. There’s a reason the Rockets dumped him for Clyde Drexler.

Concerning the one and dones its like nobody looks at game tape of these players and all I hear is oh yea this players nba ready and more than ever within 3 years they're in the g league or not on a roster You can be athletic all you want but if you don't have a solid skill( solid mid range, rebounder, great post player 3 point specialist etc.) You won't last long
