I think Hamilton underestimated Perez, he pretty much ignored that DRS detection point coming on the back straight. If he got DRS on that back straight he would pass him easily and he would be in front on him coming to the technical part of the lap when Perez backed him up. That was 6-7sec lost right there.

Man Yuki Tsunoda had THE RACE of the day. He fought everyone brilliantly and no mistakes? His potential is undeniable.

I understand that Hamilton just had more to loose in case of an accident with Verstapen and Perez, but man, he was just not aggressive enough in my opinion. Cant leave doors like that when fighting for a championship.

VERSTAPPEN is the deserved champ. Most wins, most pole positions, most better in qualify, most podiums, most laps led (by an enormous margin). Max beat Lewis fair and square, and he also beat the FIA, the British F1 establishment and the British media machine. Well done MAX...!!

You can faintly hear the marshalls calling for the SC after Latifi's crash. They were unaware they were creating history.

Kinda hilarious to hear how Lewis thinks that a proper duel against Checo is dangerous driving. That was proper racing, if he thinks that racing is just a car being behind another then sir you are properly mistaken.

Finally we get to see the beast moves by Yuki and Pierre on Bottas on the last lap. AT going to be a force next season!

I know everyone has their own opinion on Max's first lap pass of Hamilton, but regardless of how you feel about it, Hamilton looked like he was miles away going into turn 6. What a performance by Max's brake foot.

So happy Yuki did well this race. He had an excellent debut followed by lots of learning. Hope he keeps his confidence for next season. The kid got moves

Wow... Hamilton and Max didn’t even make contact on Lap 1. He just straight up cheated and stole that place back from a legitimate overtake. Watching the race, I thought Hamilton’s front tire hit Max’s rear, but no. Just a blatant illegal move that went unpunished.

Pause the video at 7:32. You can see Hamilton overtook Perez just before the DRS detection line. This meant Perez got DRS and was able to come back at Hamilton and overtake him. Which then enabled him to back up Hamilton and cost him time during the tight, twisty part of the track. If Lewis had been clever, he would have overtaken Perez after the DRS line. Got the move done on that lap. And not lost anywhere near as much time. Had he done that, he would have been far enough ahead of Max to pit under the safety car and retain track position. So to sum up, his eagerness to overtake Perez before the DRS line, cost him the world championship!

CHECO!! Somehow even more glorious seeing him from Lewis' POV! Stellar defending!!!

Can't wait for the next season with new cars. I hope we will see a lot of battles with the new generation, Mercedes George, Red Bull Max, Ferrari Charles and McLaren Lando.

Honesly, that lap 1 cut by Hamilton was cheeky. He clearly saw Verstappin going for a dive as he tightened his entry to a corner closing a gap but leaving just enough room. He should have let Max by.

How Lewis didn't get a penalty at turn 5/6 is beyond me

"Hamilton robbed" All he had to do was hold the inside and Max can't lunge. It's basic race craft. He didn't just leave the door open, he took it off the hinge. Side note, I hope this was a sign of things to come for Yuki, what a great racer when he's on it!

Yuki did exactly the same move on Bottas as Max did on Ham ... and yet , Bottas manage to stay on track ... Hmmm , very interesting ... very interesting ... so , Bottas give up the position , but Ham just cut the corner and get +1.5 sec advantage ... And the stewards say that is okey to cut corners and make a huge advantage , of course , all of this if you are Ham ... very interesting , very interesting ...

Mercedes stance and Hamilton comment on Perez "dangerous driving" sums up the race, they just expected to dominate again without competition, played way too safe and forgot what racing is all about. I just hope that next year Mercedes brings everything they got and that we get another epic season with the title fight between Russel and Verstappen :)

Controversy aside, if we were to look at Verstappen's 1 lap attack to fight for the world championship, I think a lot of people missed that after the overtake, he positioned his car perfectly for the rest of the lap. He position his car to take the inside line in turn 6 and again in turn 9, the 2 best opportunities for Hamilton to retake the lead to prevent him possibly taking the inside and pushing him wide or putting him in a compromised position to take contact. He knew his tire advantage could take the more aggressive line and drove accordingly knowing the strengths in areas of the circuit. That is why I think Verstappen is really a championship caliber driver.

Yuki was driving with the spirit of Max, he had his elbows out taking no prisoners

0:36, Vettel did the exact same move there that Verstappen did to Hamilton on lap one, yet I don't see anyone complaining about it! Max was right to say he gets treated differently. His move was perfectly legal, yet you had people saying "he didn't give Hamilton space". Erm, there's no obligation to give him space. The move was on track and legal. Yet for some reason, Hamilton was allowed to retake the position by cutting the corner by about 20 meters. And then the FIA had the audacity to lie to all of us, and claim "Hamilton has given the advantage he gained back".

I swear Hamilton thinks its “dangerous driving” if someone doesn’t move out his way and actually races him.

Go back and watch it at 11:26. On that last lap on the final pass from Hamilton I noticed that Hamilton uses his front wing to bump into Max' rear right tire ever-so-gently. Everybody in racing knows that's an intentional move to give the other driver a rear right puncture. That part of the front wing is very sharp and often causes punctures to rear tires. I've seen it dozens of times, sometimes on accident and sometimes on purpose, but that one was just gentle enough and perfectly placed to look intentional.
