this was actually very helpful!! i usually can't follow tutorials bc they are for more advanced braclets and the people making them dont go so in depth
Morgan Beth Same I hate when they don't show us how to start! Like we've already seen how it'll look like so whats the point of making a part of it offcamera?
I just started making friendship bracelets, this video was very well explained and detailed! Now I feel very confident when trying this design out. Thank you!
hi! there is a purpose behind DMC threads (and other embroidery flosses) being able to separate! when you are making an x-stich or an embroidery project you don’t use all the strands! normally just 2 or 3
I've been making bracelets since I was like 9 so when people call me a vsco girl for making them it's really annoying so dont assume somebody is a vsco girl just because they make bracelets
Joanne Chiou Thank you for the kind words, and welcome to the bracelet world! Many people may have stopped making them years ago but there’s still some of us out there still goin’ 😉
ah ha You can also undo the knots with objects such as a sewing needle or safety pin. Bracelet making takes a lot of time and practice - don’t give up! You can do it!
ah ha The beginning really can be one of the hardest parts; the strings can easily go out of place and it may not even be noticeable. Next time you start a new bracelet, just make sure you take it slow and be aware of what knots you are making and onto what strings, and as you keep practicing you will definitely get better. :)
ah ha this is late and you probably got better but, the start is always a struggle for me but i just don’t worry about it anymore and i know i can’t fix it so i only worry about the longer bits. just keep working on bracelets and do the easy candy stripe and chevron and make your way up to the harder ones!
mary smith i’m still also trying to work on easier methods until i get comfortable with doing harder ones with multiple strands and colors. i used to be good but when i tried to make a bracelet again i just couldn’t do it. idk if it’s my thread i’m using🤷🏼♀️
You did an amazing job of explaining how to do this bracelet and I'm definitely going to try it. Could you do a video on how to end it with the fishtail braid.
Good luck on your knotting! I would recommend looking up a video on how to achieve that because there are already so many. 🙂 I would look up “fishtail friendship bracelet” and you would follow the same structure for just making ties.
I bought some Chinese nylon knotting cord and whilst it was nice, it had an inconsistent thickness. Some of strands were noticeably thicker than others which were all supposed to be same thickness. I paid AUD$12 for 10 small bobbins with 10yds on each. I'm not keen on some of the floss brands as the strands often split and tangle. Thanks for your vid. Very well explained. 😁😁
Kitty Kat I don’t know your full situation, but it could be possible that there is an issue with your tension, i.e. you might not be making your knots tight enough or something else.
Kitty Kat Bracelets surprisingly take a lot of practice to totally get down. Sometimes it also takes just being careful and sort of “manipulating” your strings as you make the knot so that you can put it in the exact place you want it (if that even makes sense haha).
Craftanatic thanks, i finally got the chevron looking right. Hopefully i will master this wave pattern after trying slightly less challenging patterns. Thanks for all your help!
Crafty Boss Do you keep your base strands laying straight when you knot onto them? Do you know with tight enough tension? There could be a few factors as to why that’s happening to you.
Hi! I love this video and awesome tutorial!! But do you have the pattern for the bracelet you are wearing on your left wrist? :D it looks super cool and I wanna try it :D
Love the tutorial, I tried to make one and it came out good so thank you! Do you have a tutorial on the bracelet you are wearing in this video or does someone know if there is a tutorial on RU-vid?
That’s so great! I’m not sure if there is a tutorial out there but it is pretty similar to the rainbow weave which has been uploaded onto my channel-there are just extra strings and the color order is much different. I’ve been asked to make a video on that bracelet ever since I uploaded this video, though, so maybe I should finally make one. 😅
Use craft Scissors or you can use those scissors it to have them but if youDon’t use craft scissors is becauseSo yes to use the other one kitchen scissors and then it’s not gonna work
Hello again! These bracelets are supercute! But what if you put a small bead on the side-loops before changing colour? You know where I mean, hopefully. Have you tried that?
M Junebug I don’t normally put beads in my bracelets so I haven’t tried it but I believe you could definitely do that with this pattern! I think smaller beads would work really well :)
Hi I’m new to all of this but I’m obsessed with whatever bracelet is on your left hand. Did you make it if so I neeeeed a tutorial if not I need a link love you
CaDejah Branch Another person requested a tutorial on it as well so I will consider filming it, but for now here’s the link to the pattern! www.braceletbook.com/patterns/normal/11148/
The original bracelet calls for just two colors (and I don’t personally know how to really seamlessly add extra colors). One of my two colors I used is variegated thread so the whole skein will change colors.
I can consider it at least! But for now I can suggest maybe checking out Masha Knot’s loops for alphas (it’d work the same way for this pattern) and attempting that. It’d look pretty neat with this pattern I think!
...are those your real nails?! How do you do these bracelets with NAILS that gorgeous?!?! Gaahh!! I can't handle it! I chomp those suckers down so fast they always get hung up on things lol Anyhoo about this bracelet in particular- is there a way to do to is pattern without using one SUPER long string to weave back& forth the whooole way down?!
Oh, thank you for the kind words haha! Gel polish really aids in keeping my nails long! Once they’re naked and I try and do something, they’ll start breaking right away. 😅 They’re usually pretty healthy but they’re also not the most strong. Otherwise they don’t really bother me at all while knotting. 🙂 I imagine you could bring in colors just like you would with normal alphas, but because of how the leading strings kinda hang out on the edges, it would be really tough to have a clean transition. You could possibly bring in a new color somewhere in the middle? Though, I’m not sure how that’d look. I haven’t really experimented much with this pattern!
when making a forward knot i tend to cross the string under and then go over the base string, my chevrons always work out fine, but is this wrong? will it affect this bracelet?
Avery 123 I think I’ve actually seen a few people knot like this. If that method works for you and your bracelets still look the same, then I don’t see anything wrong with doing it!
if I wanted to have 3 colors such as one you showed at the end, would I just add that string in there and do the same pattern but using the third color instead of the first/second once in a while?
Are you talking about the green bracelet with the orange-y strings? I’ve only seen this pattern use the two outer left and right colors to be visible. I guess you could include the third color somehow but I’m not sure what the outcome would look like
Savannah Vidal I definitely agree. I have nothing against cheaper/tougher thread at all but I am definitely a bit biased towards the softness of DMC haha.
@@Craftanatic yeah same, my sister and I started with the cheaper bulk pack and I always wondered why the heck my knots didnt look as nice as the knots on pinterest, then I realised the twisting versus the...not twisting. It's crazy how big of a difference it makes, to me at least.
There are plenty of tutorials that exist on all different types of loops a person can make for a bracelet so that adds a lot of time I don’t want to add to my pattern tutorials. 🙂
Vivian W maybe try doing some of the basic bracelets like candy stripes and chevrons and get really good at that and come back to this video and make this bracelet. It will probably be easier
something they never tell you is when you’re a starter and it will most likely look terrible lol i’m not a starter but just thought somebody should know that
