Not sure if someone answered this yet brother but that cord you weren’t sure of is for quick draw. You put it in between the two zippers when it’s zipped shut and if you need to get dirty you rip that cord forward and the pack drops open. I had an old CCW fanny pack with the same setup back in the day.
That’s what I thought but I couldn’t really figure out how to make it work. What’s the trick? I bought a bag of multi colored zipper pulls; I put a bright neon one on the existing pull to give me an extra visual cue & little more to grab for.
I just leave a small gap on the corner I pull from. Don’t grab any of the zippers or cored or anything just the corner and it comes right open and gun handle is right there if you have it set up correct for yourself
I wish they would discuss the design behind the removable pocket - I am sure that the extra loops and pocket were designed with something in mind. I usually carry with the Alias system and have added their hook and hoop receiver where the removable pock is as an additional way to carry in same IWB holster. Love to see a video on carry in a sxs sometime.
I'm hoping Vertx makes one of these as a medium size. One larger than the original SOCP but smaller than the tactical version, or just as you mentioned to make the SOCP a bit thicker.
Agreed! I have the original small one and it fits a sig 365 or 238. It’s great but a little too small. This one looks a little too big to wear around town
@@jimmiferfreddette8583 if you are wearing it as a fanny pack yes it is too large but as a chest rig or back pack it’s extremely compact compared to what I see others carry. But even it being a vertx and more concealable let’s be real it isn’t.. I can spot this thing quick it sticks out enough to any in the know man or woman that it is a tactical pouch
Same!! I have both - small one is too small, this one is too big. 😒😖🫣 Hopefully their third one will be just right….😂😂 I still like this big one tho. Better than lots of other things on the market….. I wish it had the ability to expand or was just built thicker and not as wide & high.
I have same fanny pack and I carry my IFAK (including SWAT-T tourniquet) on the back side of my Vertx. The front part contains power bank, charging cables, flashlight and some little things. Haven't much used the frontal phone section as it gets extremely cold where I'm at now, so don't want to damage the clear plastic obviously. On both sides I have artificial tears, desinfección and Bluetooth earpieces.
I've been compiling a list of possibilities for a good EDC/travel sling and this just went to the top of the list of candidates. You might want to add an IFAK with a boo-boo kit, along with a tourniquet for your EDC. From the specs it looks like it will hold stuff like that perfectly.
Love this bag. If I'm out and about in my hometown it's great for me to not load my belt up. But when I'm in the city it's a super easy way to carry spare mags
The pouch on the inside of the “fun pouch” can be converted into a baton. The small part on the inside is for a roll of quarters or other hard items. You roll it up and that paracord is for your wrist.
Nice idea for camping edc, poop bags, treats as well as human stuff. I'd prefer the buckle to be an end & if it was removable to attach it to another pack would be interesting. Overall I like. Will look more into it
Just a note for people looking at fanny pack style carry options: I purchased one of these as soon as they came out as an option to my Helikon Tex chest pack for hiking in bear country. The chest pack or sling style of carry gets very hot and uncomfortable at times. This SOCP fanny pack was much less obtrusive on long hikes and easily fit my Glock 20 (no optic) and two spare mags, along with other gear I didn't want digging into, or bouncing against, my legs. I'm not disappointed in either pack, as they both have great qualities and have performed very well. As a note of reference, I have been carrying, typically at 4 o'clock, for almost 30 years, and do not like off body carry at all. Mission drives the gear train, though, and you must have options...
phone pouch with a foam pad in there would make for a handy lure pocket for trout fishing, tip it open while in the water and have open access to the different lure options
Bwuaaahaaa! Just the word "Fanny Pack", has me bustin up. It takes me back to the 70' and 80's. Boy, those were the good old days!!! Thanks for the video my Brother!!!
When out in the backcountry I use my SOCP to carry my OZ9C w/RMR, phone, wallet, and assorted necessities (lighter, some TP, light, multi-tool, etc.). Works great to always have those items easily accessible without loading down my pants pockets when climbing in/out of the pickup or on/off the Talaria e-dirtbike.
I wish they would make one with a design where you could reach in the side and draw your CCW without having to unzip the bag. They could have the pocket hidden using the same material as shown on the sides at 4:52 and that would make for a much quicker draw
Like the bag. Im considing it for a First Aid kit. Speaking of that, you and Ashley should colaborate on your first aid kits you carry. You will find ours stowed in the passenger door of the Sprinter. Recently had to add burn cream. Great content. Thx.
Especially in an urban environment, i don't understand the quick release for security reason as anyone can easily detach it on your back and so another person on your side or in front of you can just take the bag and run with it.
Ironic that the first video from you to show up on my feed in months is a Stuff and Things video lol glad to see you do one again though! They are what brought me to your channel in the first place!
agree on a new Vertx sling bag that is slightly thicker of the SOCP Sling. I prefer the size of the SOCP sling as well. Just need to store Faraday bag + car keys, Card/wallet, EDC light, Meat sticks, cell phone, Shield Plus
the phone pouch works great for an "old" phone to record video , same as a go-pro , or if you use ATACS , USGS , etc... digital maps instead of having to pull out your main phone.
I ended up getting this pack, and after a year of everyday use it’s not as great as I would like. One thing is when you carry a firearm it definitely throws off the balance of everything making the pack kinda form to the gun making it harder to carry anything else within the pack. Another thing is the straps will loosen and slide, not all the way but enough to cause the pack to side around on your body rather then staying tight. The phone holder part works better with smaller phones for sure. I have an iPhone 8 and with my case its almost to big to fit in that front pocket. It’s a okay bag, I am curious if I can find something else alittle more comfortable out there.
Apendx carried for years. this type of bag insures that I always have EDC on me as well as medical. I am after products that make sure I EDC everyday instead of be uncomfortable and then not carry.
Bought the knife no matter how I held it it didn’t feel good and don’t like fingers inside anything sold it. Bought it again! Because it looks so cool and again it’s not practical at all sold it. Love the bag tho it’s amazing
Thanks for the video. I have already ordered this fanny pack but have yet to see when .. and if they are shipping. Everything I own is black so I ordered the reef blue / gray just to change things up. You answered many questions for me and now I may be wishing I had ordered this in the sling instead.
I have tried so many bags and pouches and have never been satisfied. I've gone to using vests. Living in WI makes that doable most of the year. Even a summer carry vest is comfortable. I can carry so much more and not look like geek. I like to OWB carry and so a vest helps cover my P365XMacro. So, Talon, look into vests and see what you can find. Love to see some vests review.
Great idea. Would like to see those as well. I’m a geezer so it would probably make me a little less obvious as well. Sure wish I could see how you use yours.
Yeah the deal breaker for me was the front thingamagig for the phone. After testing it out i returned it. Next generation pls @vertx just put an extra zipper pocket in the front. Thanks
Kind of a two-part question. Do you think Mike’s(at LLOD) clinger/velcro holster would fit, and/or do you think a G45 would fit in there. I currently carry in a Patagonia atom when I do off-body, but it’s a little on larger side. I got an Eberlestock pack, and though they “advertise” someone drawing a G19 from it, there no way a G19 or anything larger actually fits in there(not without bulging on the zipper).
as a matter of interest and being on the outside looking at a country that allows concealed carry (firearms and knives). How many times have you had to draw a weapon? How safe do you feel in your country if that is a major concern? I am not judging, just interested as that seems to be a main consideration and topic when talking about edc? I feel there may be judgments coming in from all directions, I am just asking a question to understand.
I have been thinking about one of these bags i normally open carry or tshirt concealed carry I got the tactical belly now and appendix isnt comfy and no matter where i place my fire arm i gonna print anyway i have other stuff like tobacco pipe small cigars lighters buds stuff i dont want filling up my pockets and i may not carry all the time and being able to have a boo boo pack thats out of the way would be cool and easy to vacuum seal
I’ve found the size and functionality of this pack to be great for EDC. It’d be perfect if they removed the flip down phone pouch for another zippered compartment.
I agree. I have this pack and that's the first thing I'd like to see changed. I would never really keep my phone in there and that plastic will eventually yellow and look like crap. I'd also like to see elastic mag keepers inside the front pouch instead of those Velcro sleeve dividers and line the front of that pouch with Velcro so you can put that removable organizer there. Overall a good EDC waist pack though.
Agreed- the phone thing- I really don’t like it. The front grey material is just… no! A zippered compartment for my phone only- maybe with some Velcro on the front so I can put a unicorn 🦄 patch 😂. I had ordered the green and the blue but I returned it because of the phone thing. I’ll wait till the black comes back in stock or they change it. Still looking for an off body that is small and convenient
Agree. I’m gonna go play with it again now but I was floored he got the iPhone MAX in that pocket…. 🤯😱 My smaller size iPhone 14 Pro - not max - will not fit with only a very thin case on it…. The Velcro is super awkward. Straps on the small SOCP are SO much better. Overall I wish it was a regular zippered pouch instead. Very useless as is. I highly doubt Navy Seals use Fanny packs + iPhones to do ISR. 🙄🫤😐😂
I'd be concerned with the quick release clip especially in an urban environment as it's saying "go for it steal me".I wish somebody would make one that looks more like a simple joggers fanny pack but with a more time consuming release clip.
I am looking for a good solution to off body carry however I wish that they had gone a different route from the zipper to the carry compartment. Something like a button would be much quicker to deploy.
what I would throw in is a space blanket and a small fire steel or micro lighter. the blanket could help you or someone in shock and a lighter is always handy.
Good review, but I can’t see myself using something like this. I keep everything I need on my person for quick access and everything else in my backpack. However, it would be great for an ifak when you want to travel light on the trail.
The very first thing he says is “today we’re talking about ‘OFF-BODY’ edc.” Then you commented with on body edc… you made a point of missing the point.
I really like the bag, but where I live, it puts a target on your back. When a criminal sees that they know there are goodies in there and could easily ambush you with some of his “homies”.
Does the QVO minimal holster work well when drawing the firearm from the bag? The paracord could be used with a trigger guard holster with attach paracord.
Not bad I’m not a fan of Fanny packs like that do you know of any good small back packs themselves I have one I’ve used since the military I love it’s small but not to small but to big for edc
Great review bud. Is there enough room to fit an iPad mini and a CCW both in this? Want to slim down from a Maxpedition Lochspyr, which is a fantastic bag but im looking for something smaller.
