The Rossington Collins Band was an American Southern Rock band founded in 1979 by guitarists Gary Rossington and Allen Collins following the 1977 plane crash which killed three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, of which both had been members. Later the L.S. Band reformed with Ronnie Van Zant's brother Johnny doing lead vocals... I saw them twice over two decades.

Also bassist Leon Wilkeson and pianist Billy Powell--so 4 of 5 crash survivors. Drummer Artimus Pyle chose to withdraw after being injured in a motorcycle accident just as they were preparing to rehearse and record the Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere album.

I remember when I first heard this in a record store in '79 and knew just from the beginning it was members of Skynard. Just an unmistakable sound. Bought it right away. Really good album and it was do good to hear them playing again two years after the plane crash. This song and Getaway really rocked.

Ty for this interpretation of these lyrics. Perfect really and weirdly this song, which I grew up with, now resonates at this point in my life. And at 21, I heard it, but it was just another great song from my generation.

Great song, great band! I had a band during high school and covered this tune about a year after it came out. My sister attempted the female vocals. She’s no Dale Krantz, but she did ok 🤣. Lots of fun to play! We also did “8675309/Jenny” by Tommy Tutone, released in 81. You should check that one out! Good times! ✌️

The women’s name is Dale Krantz her vocals are amazing, best tracks on that album are “three times has bad” and “getaway” she’s legit

Another southern rock band 'Blackfoot' formed out of Jacksonville, Fl. in 1970 are worth checking out. Their smash hit singles and a couple tracks off their 'Strikes' album "Highway Song", and 'Train, Train" released back in 1979 are smokin' hot. The guitar rhythm and the solos are fire. 🔍💫🎤🎸🎸🥁🔊🔥☮🎧Dismiss the "Highway Song". I just noticed it has been reacted to already.🤨

This band is comprised of the plane crash survivors from Lynyrd Skynyrd. The additions were Dale, Barry Hardin and Derek Hess on drums, rather than Skynyrd’s drummer. Not sure why Artimus wasn’t with them. They did add Dale Krantz, who eventually married Gary Rossington. So, from Skynyrd, you have Billy Powell on keys, Leon Wilkeson on bass, Allen Collins on guitar and Gary Rossington. So, four Skynyrd members.

Artimus got knocked around in a motorcycle accident, and says he encouraged them to go ahead and begin rehearsing and recording without waiting for him.
