So disappointed - haven't even really watched the video yet. But spaghetti straps - all these "easy dresses" videos won't work with someone like me, who is, er, somewhat larger than normal upstairs. I cannot go without a bra, especially in public. :sigh. Never have found a bra that will hold up the girls without straps.
@ThoughtfulCreativity
@ThoughtfulCreativity 2 года назад
@@stormdancer0 then maybe watch the video first? And make thick straps and lining like the cami top from which this dress is made? Use the IDEA of this dress and problem solve to fit you...

@@ThoughtfulCreativity Watching it now - I always watch it - Love your tips. It's just disappointing that so many fabric artists concentrate on smaller chested people.

Hi. I think about 1 year ago, we sewed at about the same level. Now you have passed me like a whiz. Good for you and great job 💕

Those are very nice. I love your videos. I'm learning how to draft patterns and sew mainly through your videos. I'm so excited to be sewing now. Thank you (sew) much!

Beautiful design! I love how you teach us basic pattern drafting and design skills. That's what I love about sewing. It's the creativity of making your own garments. Please do more of these types of tutorials that use 100% cotton. That way we can take advantage of all the pretty prints in the quilting cotton offerings

My pleasure! Oh... Have you seen the most recent Members Extra for the pleated jacket? You can use 100% cotton there, just need to go for a medium heavy fabric, so that it has some weight to it, at the very end of the Members Extra I go through the fabric examples and show them! :) I hope that helps! Oh... And the wide leg pants (the blue linen ones) you can make them in cotton too, it would ve great!

@@ThoughtfulCreativity thanks for the tip. I wanted to make a jacket as my next project. I missed that one. I've just been so busy I haven't caught all of your notifications lately. Keep up the good work. I enjoyed seeing you expand your offerings. You got me into the Dress A Girl thing too

I like to sew two rows of gathering stitches: one at 1/2 inch and the other at 3/4 inch. I find the gathers are neater when I attach the two pieces together with a 5/8 inch sewn. I also zigzag over elastic thread sometimes.

Love the pattern and style. It’s a perfect maternity dress especially as small as my daughter is.

It really is! Plenty of room for the baby bump and does not restrict the movement, I remember that was a key thing for me when I was pregnant.

@@ThoughtfulCreativity My daughter lives in Lewisburg, TN and we both know how humid it is here in our state. She is very much like me and is use to the heat and humidity. I understand how it is to pregnant at this time of year because I was with her. She’s due December 7th and in a size 8 at 4 1/2 months.

Omg, I was due in December too and the fall season in TN was the worst - hot and humid, but it was worth it. But yes... I hear you and totally understand what she is going through!

Have you ever thought to do a tutorial on how to add lace to a denim jacket? I want to do this with lace that I have. I know it’s best to use a jacket that is mostly cotton and I have one.
@ThoughtfulCreativity
@ThoughtfulCreativity 2 года назад
Shelly, hello there! I have not, but you should be able to do that without a problem, it all depends where you want to add it. In the most recent Members Extra - the sweater with lace sleeves, I go over a few things when I attached lace to the knit, how to join lace together and etc. Good be a good use for you for your project!

Wonderful dress, TY ☺️. I am interested in doing it with self bias. Do you have an idea how much more yardage I would need to do that? (Even an estimate of the linear inches would help me, I can do the math from there). TY .

why don't you just surge the seams? You sew them and then surge the edges. Can't this be done in one step with the surger? I'm wondering what I'm not getting right in my brain about the surger. Maybe different for knits vs wovens?? thanks.

Sandra, hello there... so sorry to hear about that, but currently you're not a Member as I don't see a badge next to your name. At 4:40 in this Membership trailer that you see when you join I explain where to find the perks - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uP9qSamkVkk.html as RU-vid takes care of all payments, unfortunately I cannot help you with that (also, the price is odd, the Membership is $4.99) - I would suggest contacting RU-vid customer support to sort out what is happening with your account or you can simply go to your profile, circle in the right top corner, and go to subscriptions and purchases and see what is happening there.

The cami top tutorial used as a base here has a lining in it - go take a look at that tutorial and the ruffle sleeve silk blouse from "the most expensive fabric" episode just recently has a lining.
