Your videos have helped me with my fish so much. I even got a pair of Albino Giant Gourami's like the one you worked on. I love them. Great fish. So smart. Like dogs. Thank you for your help.
Does completing the course qualify for veterinary technician CE credits? I might be able to get upper management to cover the cost or reimburse me as part of my employee benefits, but they're less interested in covering courses that don't relate to dogs or cats (My suggestions about tarantula first aid were shot down before I could even finish my sentence☹) unless I can make a case that it helps me keep my license.
With over 90 lessons, the course is designed for veterinarians and veterinary nurses. It is a self-contained course and equips students with knowledge of how to recognise, diagnose and treat or manage fish diseases due to infectious and non-infectious causes. The policy on CE credits will depend on your licensing body, potentially over 50 hours of self-paced learning credits when completed. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the exam with a pass mark set at 70%.
Excellent video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I have just made a quarantine aquarium for my new fishes recently purchased. They are there for 10 days already. Considering they look very healthy, are eating and pooping normally, for how long should I keep them in the quarantine before releasing them in my main tank? Thank you
Love your videos, really hoping you could make one regarding the Parachromis Loiisellei. There really isnt that much info about them that i can find. Ive had mine for 3 1/2y shes usually a bright gold but shes very very dark colored right now.
It costs about 600€. Hard to justify, except for Veterinarians. From the curriculum I'd say most lay persons will rather struggle on the content, and also be challenged to access the medications anyway. I may take it, but I'm a veterinarian myself.
If you are running a Vet clinic, aquarium shop or fish farm or working with expensive koi for example, its very easy to loose many thousands of dollars worth of fish if you get diagnosis and treatments wrong. So for these types of situations the course can pay itself on a regular basis. The medicine formulary lists many over counter available medications - varies depending on the Country. As a serious fish hobbyist and fish breeder, I lost many thousands of dollars of fish to disease before I learned skills from Dr Loh.
@@LUOHANMAN then you mostly don't know where to look for that information. I haven't done the course yet, but most of all that information is available for free on the internet or in books costing a fraction of that. So the price must be justified by being presented in a more accessible fashion. And it does seem to be catering to Veterinarians, or people who basically perform that function. Testing water, diagnosing some common diseases and treating them with over-the-counter medication, is not what I would buy this course for.
I am hearing there will be no over the counter meds available without a perscription, June 13 2023. All fish meds have already been pulled from my local stores.
@@thefishdoctor8746 I have a Vieja Lago catemaco that has a sunken belly who will not eat any dry foods. I have had to resort to live blackworms to keep him going. He won't even fatten up on live food. Could you Please start me in the right direction?
@@Vf1100 there are many forums on the internet where you can ask such questions. Depending on the value of the fish you may also want to look for a local veterinarian who specializes in fish. Just from the description of the symptoms the cause could be anything, including nothing.
Congratulations👍 I don't mean to sound negative but I find that after keeping fish for 35 years no matter what treatment I buy how much money I spend none of them ever seem to work especially with discus.....
Thank you. The most common reason for treatments failing is medicating based on guess work. The key to successful treatments is to start with a correct diagnosis. Our Fish Vet Masterclass provides easy to follow guidance on the disease investigation process with lots of pictures and practical tips.
