That was incredible. The way he conveyed the shared values, sacrifices, and aspirations of both his white rural grandmother and his black urban mother-in-law... while clearly fighting back tears. A genuine, emotional, common sense case for national unity that only Barak Hussain Obama has the life experience and eloquence to deliver. That was history in the making.
@terencerandolph7721. 👏👏👏 Love your comment 😊 Beautiful and well captured. I could not have said it better. I too felt what you so eloquently wrote, regarding this part of his speech. Well done! 🎉
Some people are not going to like my observation that Barack Obama is clearly both very white and very black. Look at his bone structure and facial features and you can see both roots. Listen to his diction. He is not "just" black. He stands firmly with one foot in each culture as well as his genes. Much of his childhood was in Indonesia and Hawaii. I believe this diversity is what makes him so compassionate and broadens his appeal to anyone with a heart.
@@spacelemur7955why are Americans so racially divided?? No one said otherwise. Barack is biracial. He is also a black man. At the end of the day we're all just human beings
Take a picture it won't last! Trump in a landslide victory. President Trump would line to thank you for re-electing him and getting rid of the communism in this country!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍💪💪💪
That really struck me too - the love. Michelle and Barack love each other. Kamala and Doug love each other. Jill and Joe love each other. Love is the bedrock for a nation as much as for a couple. Vote Blue, America. The rest of the world is indeed watching. Kia kaha (stay strong) from New Zealand. 💙💙💙
From the UK. What a change to see joy and hope on the faces of Americans at a political event, and to hear words of hope and enlightenment. A sea change from the fear and division of the other contestant who depresses the human spirit instead of lifting up and energising.
The contrast reminds me of the Star Wars movie with Darth Vader and the Sith Lord vs Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. May the source (of hope and joy) be with you 🎉💙🥳
From the UK also. Seems to me they only talk about Trump, who seems to occupy their minds. Moreover, the legacy media is going full out bigging up Harris only a few months on from seeing her as the worst VP in history. Strange!
How adorable is Doug! I loved his speech! So down to earth, kind and real. Don't get me started on the Obama's. Can't get enough. I forgot how much I love his speeches, I will never tire. Phenominal night, I cried, I laughed, I swelled with pride and hope! This is the America I love!
@@danajetton4704 don't forget Michelle's speech! This time it was "when they go low we go right for the gut!" No messing around this time. We have to keep up the enthusiasm for 76 days & go for the win 11/5! 🔥⚡💙
From Canada. I loved both Obama’s speech. So captivating, powerful and amazing. Delighted to see Michelle finally speech her truth openly so admirable….l heard her loudly. 🇨🇦👏👏👏👏
@@grghkllb3875 I beg to differ. Michelle is not Hillary. Michelle couldn't wait to get out of the White House. She's an excellent speaker and a passionate American, but politics isn't really her jam. I believe one of the reasons she is so popular is because her heart is so big. She may live too deeply from that space to be able to weather the demands of the top job, which she has seen first hand.
20 years from now we will look back on this panel of journalists and thank the universe for their brilliance, commitment, passion and leadership. God bless you.
Tammy Duckworth touched me. I salute her🫡🇺🇲. Doug made me smile. Michelle made it serious. Obama made us think. If you aint like the DNC your not human. It made me proud and gave me hope in our country. Kamala all the way🎉. Lock trump up and quit procrastinating his sentence. He must pay for our Capitol he attacked.
I loved all speeches. I am like you though...love Tammy Duckworth and her speech. More importantly, her constant courage, service to the USA , and her wonderful smile and sense of humor. She is the best of the best!
I like every word you said except this - he (Trump) didn't attack our Capitol. He said he'd be there with them, but he was not. He is too cowardly! Why his supporters still worship him knowing he lied to them and let them take the fall for that just boggles my mind - empty headed sheeple!
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to Emhoff and to both Obamas tonight. Wonderful speeches given in different styles with a lot of their own personalities shining through.
What an absolutely wonderful, inspiring night! I even enjoyed the roll call. The Obamas are a national treasure. Very impactful and a much needed one, two punch! Yes!!!
I have always thought that Barack is the best orator I have heard in my 60+ years, but I found Michelle's speech better in that it went straight to the point and showed that she knows the everyday struggles and thoughts ordinary people deal with daily. Each point was an exclamation of truth. Something trump will never understand or be able to do.
I'm a Canadian with a lot of family who are American. I pray and hope that Kamala is elected President. Your country deserves someone who going to work for everyone. Just like Obama did. Got to love The Obama's , two great people.
@@williamschlosser77 Oh it's very much my business. I have American born family who are veterans from ww2 straight to Iraq2 , police officers, business owners in the good old USA. When you say Obama worked hard are you talking about the housing crash that cost 3 million people their homes while he gave billions to the big banks? Maybe the recession that cost everyone their 401ks? The $4 gas that seems to be a common theme when dems are in charge must be what your talking about. I know the 13% unemployment sure helped everyone out. He was a disaster. Someone lied to you my Canadian friend.
So proud of Former President Obama he surely knows how to work a crowd! The people love him! Also, Michelle was awesome! Example of a power couple 💙💙💙💙💙
It's about being real. There was nothing real at the RNC, and it was painful to witness. This couldn't be more different. You can feel it. This is what makes life worth living.
Decent people vs. criminals, intelligent people vs. ignorant bigots, love vs. hate, future vs. old ideas, inclusion vs. discrimination, compassion vs. malignant narcissism. A clear and easy choice. 💙
I first saw Lawrence on the old McLaughlin Group. 1990 or so. I've always liked his analysis, but in the last year or so he has really reached new heights.
Look up his first shows on msnbc. 2010? He had Trump in a massive tizzy. Trump wanted him fired then he wanted msnbc to be pulled and charged. It was him just showing Trump clips and making fun if him. Have you ever heard Trump call out O'Donnell? No.
I appreciated all the speakers and I was pleasantly surprised that Stephanie Grisham openly talked about her time in the Trump admin and is giving her support to Kamala. I hope she this will encourage other Republicans to come forth.
@markorchard2272 ... here in the States, our blue-collar workers have lost their jobs. The factories closed and moved to China. Trump misled those workers into believing he could reverse the situation... that's why trump has such high poll numbers...... 🙄 I hope that helps... Best wishes to you...
@@randogg7815Interesting comment--I am a Brit lived in the US (CO then NY) for decades and I categorically do not understand it, truly, I believe only American’s do!🤗
WoW! As always, I am impressed again! Mr President, you have done it again. Great! I wonder how you find the absolutely right words and put them together to create wonderful sentences that sound like a poem. Your speech today was like a beautiful painting of hundreds of positive, beautiful images that have been painted in all of our minds and heads. You are a brilliant speaker and words artist. Thank you for giving us hope again. Keep it up! Keep it up! Yes, we can actually do that! 💙💙💙💙💙
So many messages last night and what I saw was joy, love and FUN (THANK GOODNESS). From the state roll calls to the lovely warm hugs the Obama's gave each other, I was uplifted.
All the same, Israeli occupation and the revenge war in Gaza that was a self-inflicted wound for decades of dehumanizing suppression of the original inhabitants of the land is something NBC along with THESE fine Americans cannot gloss over with moral nostalgia. Doesn’t mean you vote for Trump and more carnage. But for God’s sake, innocent people are dying all over the planet because the leadership in this country remains mis-invested.
Analytical, structured, organized, academic, cultural and measured. Democrats are organized completely. This what we expect from intelligent and responsible people.
Yeah, let's "drain the swamp"! Vote out EVERY MAGA type - they have NO policy, only hatred of people who don't look like them (MAGA - great again is dog whistle for MAWA - WHITE again!) and hatred for government at the behest of the oligarchs who control this country. That government - OUR government - provide much FOR THEM, and they vote against their own interests! A MAGA protestor holding a sign saying "keep your government hands off of my social security" is a good example - sheer stupidity from the mindless!!!
I've been waiting patiently for the Obamas to speak about our current situation. Patience is so important,,and it was both inspiring and encouraging. I'm crying as I write this because I have been without hope for so long, but I am so grateful.
I can't even wrap my head around the idea that a voter would vote for Obama twice and then say to themselves "I think tRump will be a nice change." That's just insanity.
It was so good to see and hear from Michelle and Barack again. Michelle’s speech was by far the most dynamic and inspiring speech I’ve seen in the last 10 years. My eyes were glued to my tv screen as she commanded the attention of that entire auditorium. She shared from a very real and deep place and she left me speechless and lost in thought. But I also felt this igniting motivation and determination to help Kamala/Walz win in November. I am thankful for their incredible reminder that we must remain vigilant and unified in the upholding the dignity of democracy.
I didn't expect to enjoy the first 2 nights of the DNC so much. OMG! I was so touched and cried on night 1. Tonight I was cheering. I wish everyone saw the amazing stories/speeches. The election would be a tsunami! 💥🎉🎊
Post links to the speeches on your social media, send them to your friends and colleagues. First one to send is Crockett, she made me laugh so much ❤️🇬🇧 Trump's "thinking chair" 🤣🤣🤣
Another amazing night! I sat on the edge of my seat enjoying every moment. From the electrifying roll call with the amazing DJ and an appearance by Little Jon who had the crowds dancing and having the best time. Even seeing a few celebrities blending in the crowd and cheering for Harris/Waltz & their state 📣 like Wendall Pierce and Spike Lee was just fantastic. Seeing how optimistic and proud each state was to cast their delegate votes for VP Kama Harris with such pride was so remarkable. Every speaker tonight was so great, my heart is just so full. The Obamas are just phenomenal and so classy. Michelle Obama looked exquisitely breathtaking and she came with fire 🔥 tonight! President Obama was magnificent! He is so loyal to President Biden. He referred to him as a brother. That brought me to tears. I am just excited about this convention! I am falling back in love with our country again. This feels good. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸♥️🤍💙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@simplytony698 Lots of folks are excited to vote for someone OTHER than a serial wife-cheater (cheats with "foreigners"), and don't want an autocrat, a dictator, or anyone so thin-skinned a Trump. Tired of his constant whining...
These aren't patriotic individuals. These are individuals benefiting of suffering of the marginalized. Democrats destroy communities not inspire them. This is hate and is unacceptable. Masquerading hate to look like hope only works on the ignorant and poverty stricken. Democrats are symbols of hate. I refuse hate regardless of how you rebranded it..we clear ! Two EXCELLENT speeches by both Obamas!!! Michelle’s was POWERFUL and PHENOMENAL!!!! They are both wonderful role models of brilliance, great education, dignity, and grace. I miss them.
Don't you appreciate Kamala Harris? I think she's FABULOUS. But what do I know? I am only a Brit living in France. I can tell you that Kamala's charisma has crossed the pond to Europe. Many French people are VERY impressed by Kamala Harris and feel the joy and hope she brings.
I love, love, love everything Doug Emhoff had to say about his relationship with his wife. I love that Kamala saved the first message he left for her and plays it every year on their anniversary. He sounded so pathetic. So I know they both have a great sense of humor.

I'm here in Chicago at the DNC Convention wrapping it up for the night. The mood was electrifying and Barrack Obama hit the ball out of the ball park once again.
Rachel, that was my moment of the night - “ who is going to tell him”. Thanks for being YOU! You inspire, you encourage, you challenge. We need that in the eleven weeks to go!
The truth 🤣 I come here to see the newest form of left proooop- o Ganda 🤣 let me hear a policy of Harris? What’s her stance on : Border Economy Taxes Ice Fracking Energy independence Police I’m confused - I’ve heard her in both sides of EVERY issue
I remember when Melania finished her speech at the RNC and Trump just held her in a warm embrace and they smiled at each other and laughed and hugged each other. So much in love. Oh, wait. No, that never happened.
LOL! There's no love in Trump's dark heart. People attribute some kind of 'intelligence' to Trump, but it's all purely predatory instincts of a shark who eats everything and every joyful moment in his path. Trump's loyalists are trying to make friends with a shark, and they inevitably get what they deserve as soon as they make the slightest sound that the Trump-Shark doesn't like. The amazing thing is that they never learn the lesson, even while witnessing their friends and fellow Americans being devoured.
Amazing night! What great speeches from everyone, especially the Obama's. Everything at the DNC represents hope for the future. This is something all Americans can get behind.
1) President Obama was a real president and I believe people miss that kind of leader terribly 2) Secretary Hillary Clinton should have been the president in 2016 but with grace in her speech I see it as she lit the way she removed the barricade & we must always be grateful for her service as she really served the united states in countless roles 3) Michelle Obama was a real 1st lady and people wanted her to run & I'm not surprised why 4) Mitt Romney was the last of the McCain republicans that was a decent man and now that party has been decimated by a demagogue 5) Vice President Kamala Harris will take the torch of freedom forward for America and the world 6) President Joe Biden will leave a legacy from his actions and what he got passed through congress not just through executive orders are amazing achievements that the public should look into as they don't get spoken about enough.
It's a shock to see normalcy and respectable adults back in the room. We got a taste of what Trump world is like. No way are we going through that again.
@@nofunone16363 I agree. But we have to turn out in such large numbers that MAGA will become a thing of the past. Recruit new voters. Volunteer at the polling places. Give people rides. Help them to register. We CAN do this.
It is essential for Americans to not only register to vote, but to CHECK their registration regularly until election day. Keep making sure you're still registered to vote. And vote as soon as voting opens in your state. There are too many corrupt, underhanded efforts to cancel your vote and your voice in this election - it's going to take constant vigilance every day to get this done.
