Here's a very simple solution to ferociously, untamable air tools that clutter up the workshop. Oh, and the best part? The entire project can be made with a table saw and a drill!

I think the correct term is a “closed nipple”. Hell of a good idea. Going to sort out my tray and get things on the wall. Thanks.

Nice. But 3 years ago, I wouldn't have had to mortgage the house to buy all the fittings (never mind Baltic birch!!!) Thx.

Great idea and execution. Your rack links like it will be very useful for those with air tools. That’s something I’ve never bought. I also don’t have a compressor and tank big enough to run them.

What is this mysterious "air" power your speak of? Is it like flowing electrons?! 😁
@MakeThings
@MakeThings 3 года назад
Flowing electrons mixed with the finest wine! If only all things could work with the power of air. 🥰

That's a very clever approach! I have to say, I have mixed feelings about pairs of threaded nipples :-)
@wilbearworks
@wilbearworks 3 года назад
Why do your fittings seem to be left-hand thread?
@MakeThings
@MakeThings 3 года назад
Good eye! I might have flipped the video so it looks like the viewer was watching make it instead of it being upside down. Great observation!
@BillyHardcase

Let´s agree to disagree. This is not a very good idea. Always store your pneumatic tools the other way. Store them upside down and put a tiny drop of oil in the air intake before storing them. Ask any ekspert on pneumatic tools.
@MakeThings
@MakeThings 3 года назад
I actually like storing them like this because the female adapters keep the dust out. Agree with your first part!

Pretty nice idea, but I prefer the PVC pipe approach like people use with their cordless drills.

Nice system, but if you live in certain states by the time you buy everything to make what you need to build air tool holders. I could afford 4 prostitutes and a case of beer.

See what you did there Rob? It's all your fault! Right now all I have is an 18 ga. brad nailer. NOW I HAVE TO GO BUY 5 MORE PNEUMATIC TOOLS! You will be hearing from my wife.

Um... the air tool connectors are female. The male part is on the air tool. Hanging the tool by the connector is going to stress the threads on the male connector.
@MakeThings
@MakeThings 3 года назад
I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. What kind of connectors do you use? Male connectors, here, have a shaft with a single bulge in the center. No threading whatsoever.
@OldDunollieman
@OldDunollieman 3 года назад
There are NO threads on the male connector doofus.
@wags99999
@wags99999 3 года назад
@@OldDunollieman you thread the male connector into the tool...with threads. This will put undo stress on the threads. Perhaps you have never actually used a connector and don't understand how you connect the male connector to the tool...
@wags99999
@wags99999 3 года назад
@@MakeThings you don't thread the connector into the tool ? Really ? Those are the threads that will get stressed over time.
@jimbooth3
@jimbooth3 3 года назад
@@MakeThings 1. You referred to the connectors that you screwed into the pipe elbows as 'male.' They are female. 2. The male part, the one you referred to as having a bulge in it, is threaded into the air tool. 3. Those threads will be stressed by having the weight of the tool suspended on them. Have you an idea now?
@wags99999
@wags99999 3 года назад
I doubt tools are designed to hang off the air connection.. I like my tools, no thanks.
@MakeThings
@MakeThings 3 года назад
I understand. The weight of the airgun is directly in the center. I've hung these for a couple years with this approach without any problems. Anyway, thanks for watching.
