VERY RARE US Navy Grumman C2 Greyhound Landings & Takeoff at Prestwick Airport

Hi all. On Sunday 6th August 2017, Prestwick Airport got another superb movement. This was in the form of a very rare US Navy Grumman C2 Greyhound. Less than 60 of these were built and they are primarily used on Aircraft Carriers. During the 1st & 10th August 2017, Exercise Saxon Warrior is taking place across the UK as the USS George HW Bush is sailing within UK waters. This means there has been some increased military activity at Prestwick, plus some other military movements. I will have a full Saxon Warrior movement’s compilation out in the near future. I have linked a few articles about Saxon Warrior as there is a lot more than just aircraft participating. I hope you all enjoy.

Really nice catch of an aircraft rarely seen. An avgeek must-see esp judging by the number of spotters there. Rrally good views from Prestwick

8 bladed like the NP2000 8 blade C-130H3 and A400M!!!! (Similar sound almost, as well!!!!)

fantastic vid and i can't understand why people would call this amazing aeroplane ugly.....only ever seen one on the ground at mildenhall airshow a few year back but love the sound.

I was on the USS Independence in 1972 when a C2 crashed into the sea attempting to land. The ship stopped next to the plane that was floating upside down. The pilot and copilot were killed but 5 passengers jumped out the open ramp in the rear and were rescued by the helicopter. The ship’s crew watching the event cheered.

The left seat is used to trapping a 3-wire not having a 10,500 foot terra ferma runway!! Someone said "ugly"...not really; this baby brings supplies/mail, etc., to the ship...it is called a COD (carrier onboard delivery) platform. People who were not FLY NAVY call it whatever they want, but we who did FLY NAVY know how beautiful she is. Nice video, thank you sir.

I got a couple of COD rides about a month ago. The trap on the Stennis was intense as to be expected, but the landing back in San Diego was maybe the softest I've ever experienced in any type of plane. I think the pilots wanted to prove they could do silky smooth landings as well.

Love what you said....a 3-wire (the optimum wire to trap, out of the 4 on deck) DOES take smooth out of the landing equation!! Congrats on your Stennis trap...my butt eats the seat just remembering back to that thrill. Bravo Zulu.

Nice Crosswind landing, it’s harder to land a high wing twin than a low wing, More wind 🌬 can get underneath it, though the DHC -6 twin Otter is harder if single pilot as you have to hold the ailerons over into the wind with the yoke, reverse the two PT-6 turboprop engines, and grab the steering tiller to, OH, Wait, you Only have two arms with One hand 🤚 apiece 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️
