WOW! Did not expect that much! 500 lbs gold ore sample was dropped off by a friend for testing on my fine gold recovery system.
It turned out to be very high grade gold ore. I crushed the ore using the primary crusher a 3x4" jaw crusher. Then the secondary crusher an impact mill. The I used the Sepro Icon i150 gravity concentrator to concentrate the gold. The centrifugal concentrator uses a simple centrifuge to separate the heavy materials from the lighter. And is very good at fine gold recovery. Hard rock mining for gold is very different than gold panning or placer mining. However when you find the right high grade gold vein, with free gold, hard rock mining can be very rewarding.

That's beautiful gold Dan. It don't get any prettier than that when you're hard rock mining. Looks like more than a quarter ounce in that small amount of rock. You could make a good living if your hard work paid off like that every day. Your one of the best miners on RU-vid and a great teacher.

I love when you spend the day with your Dad. My Dad passed away in '97. It has left me longing and with a soft spot in my head... er... um... heart! for father and son scenarios. Every day with Dad is golden! As good as the shiny in the pan! Great video as always!

Those ironstone rich heavy samples are rich in gold ore , you can see the gold easily. Where I live here in western Australia we have similar type of rock strata and calcrete claylike stuff with heavy iron staining . When it's crushed / dollies up and panned off with water that's got bit of dishwashing detergent in it the gold is visible. Most of it is like almost flour gold it's that fine , hence the detergent in the water to change surface tension and stops fine gold floating out. This is probably a stupid question, but are the iron compounds left in the pan magnetic? Couldn't you put a big neodymium magnet in a Ziploc bag (to keep fine iron off the magnet), then run the magnet across the bottom of the pan to drag it to the other side of the pan, and aid the separation of the iron from the gold? Or isn't it magnetic enough because it's in a compound?

I wonder if a good water table would help separate that gold with less work & more recovery than panning. Hate to loose any after all the hard work. DIY water tables can be made for $75 - $300 to handle large volumes of material at the end of the process. Great setup & best wishes.
