Fixing a dead PintX using a Trampa VESC 6 75 but keeping the existing battery and BMS, just configuring it for charge-only Trampa VESC 6 75: trampaboards.com/vesc-6-75-co...
Really good watch Dado. Inspiring me to VESC my Pint in the future. I always enjoy watching squirrelly setups. Makes it look like you're putting in work. Also, all your "oh shit" commentary is hilarious!
Nice commentary and variety of shots! Your best vid to date 🤟🏻 And you'll love that Enduro pint tire, so stable yet carvy! Oh and that's dope u can have it go into stand mode after riding, would be fun when you run into a store real quick and leave it at front 🤣
I had a 60v trampa Vesc 6. I liked it! Fit good in the pint housings. Not having Pull down resistors was a pain. But I think with my current engagement system I might not even need pull down resistors.
@@BillyShredder as far as I understand the 60V limit is a pretty hard limit, people have gotten away with 13s batteries, but 15s should pretty easily kill it because the stock Pint pack will easily exceed 65V on regen and even more when doing tricks like slides and such. Supposedly even 61V is enough to kill the VESC 6
Normally closed 12mm switches are quite common, but not with LED light. However, since you can program an automatic power down after x minutes, the switch is only needed for the wakeup functionality and a light is not really required.
Amazing work! And what about the speed? Would be interesting to see what happenes at the usual pushback speed. I am really close to vesc my Pint X as well.
@@surfdado pleeeease run a speed test 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I don’t suggest to push the limit, just check when the Captain Morgan arrives. Early pushback is the biggest pain with the Pint.
If you don't care about connectors and waterproofing then you can fit most VESCs. But why VESC 6? Will you make a custom battery? Why not 6-75 and reuse the XR/Plus battery?
@@surfdado no custom battery . Basic build. I find 84V setups too heavy for techy trails, like GT. And I have a spare xr to vesc, the denim one you may have seen. Cheap and easy! The vesc 6s are the same size, it was just a size test today, it looked doable to me. For many in our community, these things are out of reach unless they are good value, so a conversion will be what most new vesc adopters will do in uk, if at all
I have been waiting for work (trampa) to get the 6 75 in stock for my first vesc swap. Can I ask what pull down resistor values you used? Did you find a suitable momentary switch for this vesc? Is there anything new or not in the video you can add, since the time of making this video? Thanks always for your work to help the community, we appreciate you
I used 1kOhm but anything up to 10kOhm will work. I did find an NC momentary switch so I now benefit from auto-shutdown which is really nice. Also the BKB Voyager remote works nicely alongside my BLE module
The pulldown should be placed as close as possible to the JST pin on the VESC controller. Reason: when the cable brakes it should pull down the signal to GND. We can design a little pull down pcb with ease.
Love this! Thanks for all the infotainment you have put out. Can I ask if a stock controller case mod is possible to fit a trampa vesc? To start I will use stock battery / bms, and soon a UK cbxr clone instead. Any particular trampa vesc you can recommend please? And anything additional I may need. If you wouldn't mind. I started work at Trampa recently so hoping to connect with a couple of faces who they know and see what's up
congrats on your new job! Now, this is an XR question, right? The XR or Plus controller box doesn't have enough space for the Trampa VESCs but if you remove the handle then it will fit easily. Or 3D printing. Search "flowglider" on thingiverse to find 3D models
@@surfdado just checking haha. Not paid too much attention while the project matured tbh, but my new work circumstances mean learning stuff is useful suddenly! Once again, thanks for sharing your knowledge to the community
@surfdado will you be releasing a document with a setup guide like you made for the XR conversion going over wiring, soldering and jst connectors as far as wiring the VESC to as much stock components as possible? I think the community would be very grateful for it.
I’m not sure which document you’re referring to for the XR, but either way all the documents you need are already on the Vescify Discord server. That’s what I used to get my conversion done
You don't need to replace the button. You just need to use binary logic to invert the value. There are lots of ways to do this. I have ideas, but they are probably outdated. If you can't find a younger EE to propose a circuit for you, I'll tell you how I would do it. Let me know what you think. ☮️❤️🌈
@@surfdado what ever voltage the VESC's operating voltage is set to (likely 5v or 3.3v) should work. One way to do it would be to have a 5 pin relay. 2 pins receive the activation current. The 3 other pins toggle the center between the Normally Open and Normally Closed. But, since the VESC won't be powered on to activate the relay... Yeah, it might need a dedicated voltage regulator. This is tough. A real EE may have a better solution.
if you increased the battery size to 16s as just stated was possible in the beginning of the video, how would that increase the range? and the torque?? obsessed with my pintx just wish it has a little more range. if it could go 25 miles and had XR style pushback, I would never need to buy another wheel ever again.
As part of this transition from FM based OW to VESC based OW think about, at some point, adding a feature to bleed off charge during full charge downhill runs.
its so hard to watch anyone record while riding..esp when they as squirrely as this dude- last month I had my first nose dive ever after 200 miles without ever doing so... ate the pavement @ 13mph..the only protective gear I was wearing was gloves and pants only because it was night and a little chilly, the pants didn't do much both my knees got ate up, luckily the gloves saved my hands which i can only imagine what they would have look like had i not wore them.., gashed my eyebrow had to stitch it up 5times and my chin right/front side got rashed pretty bad...got it on camera tho - which after you watch me eat it all you see is trees and sky going by as you hear the fading sounds of me moaning and swearing for a good 4-5 secs awhile my phone flew/slid a good 25-30yds down the street... I watched it once and refuse to watch it again. Im designing/testing my own device to put on the front to prevent it from happening again. yes i know these exist but i think I can do better and make one much more compact. I like my pint but wish id bought a GT my feet are too bigand I have to have them placed in one exact spot or im not comfortable on it
