History of VESPA PX150E Exclusive (1983-1987)
Vespa PX150E Exclusive is the next generation P150X with several enhancements to features from the previous generation. Exclusive appearance is marked by improvements in the engine, especially in the ignition sector, which already uses an electronic system called EPI (Electronic Pointless Ignition). In the initial output in 1983, apart from the ignition sector difference there was no significant change compared to the previous Vespa P150X other than the PX150E emblem replacing the PX150E emblem in the lower left rear box and the emblem that read "Exclusive" with Latin writing in the right box the bottom of the back. In addition, there is also a front seat from the plate material that can be opened to access the gas tank and equipped with a key to secure the gas tank that has been equipped with a sensor float for a gasoline meter, besides the tank cap is somewhat forward and smaller. The rear seat holder has also been replaced with a slightly contoured plate on the side and angled.
Entering 1984, there was a significant facelift on the body, including the shape of the handlebars which were somewhat different from the changing material of the lid on the handlebars that had previously been replaced with aluminum and installation of a new half-oval speedometer with indicator lights and gasoline meters inside speedometer frame.
The ignition switch has moved to the side of the center bone at the top of the trunk. On the floor, the floor rail has been removed and replaced with rubber-based carpets that are easily disassembled. Similarly, the center mat or tongue rubber has been replaced with the same material that is easier to remove. The front seat has changed the shape of a pedestal that does not have a per at the bottom of the sponge, replaced with an ordinary plate so that the damping system in the seat is only found on the main spring. The turn signal on the Exclusive Vespa has a slightly different shape from the previous generation, namely with an angular contour on the front and for the rear part rather long and tapered. The brand of the turn signal is no longer using SIEM, but only the Piaggio hexagonal logo in its place.
In the engine sector, in addition to the use of EPI, replacing the contact point or platinum system, in the clutch section it has also been refined with larger-diameter clutch home use with more numbers per clutch. Early generation Vespa machines have not used automatic side oil pumps but in the following years have used AOM (Automatic Oil Mixer) technology or an automatic oil mixer which has a pump near the carburetor. The oil tank itself is next to the gas tank.
