I actually own a spear. But it's an old fishing spear brought from my great grandmother who lived in Tahiti. She also left behind a couple of Chinese swords. They've been in my attic for decades, and I have no idea how or when I'll ever use them. I keep a folding knife on me for every day use, and I keep an ax, karambit, ulu, and hori hori in my room. Of course they could be used for practical purposes (and I once chased a burglar out with the ax!), but I just think they look cool. The ulu even came with its own display stand.

As an amateur pole-arm enthusiast, I approve of Gramps' purchase of a boar spear. Boar spears are rad, yo. Just don't call your spear "Gae Buidhe" if you're actually bringing it to a boar hunt. But how the flip did he manage to find one within his two-week suspension!? D, did he just casually stumble upon a smithy or was he acquainted with a local blacksmith? I used to be a kung fu teacher until 2020, and after my gym closed I kept some weapons, a nunchaku, a chinese machete and a spear. Now, they aren't really exposed and not many people visit my house, but it never dawned me how funny the scene of someone coming home and just seeing a spear hanging around would be, I will put it in the kitchen next time someone comes over.
