Is the raw dog food diet legit? Raw feeding is so popular these days and there is so much misinformation surrounding this topic. In this video I discuss that and a few other things with Dr. Lindsey Bullen. Dr. Bullen is a veterinary nutritionist who is, quite frankly, an expert in everything related to the nutritional needs of your pet. I wanted to have a long form conversation with her, so that I could help provide some answers to common questions pet owners have in regards to the nutritional needs of their animals. We cover everything from raw food, grain free food, the best brands to feed your dog or cat, and some questions from my tiktok. I learned a lot talking to her today, and I hope you do too. She's great. Any questions or concerns, feel free to comment below. Thank you and have a great day!

@@stephaniecrahal5336 lol I wouldn’t call it brainwashing. I also disagree with those diets being fed exclusively, but Hills, RC, and Purina do have an impressive and highly detailed amount of data on their food being able to provide adequate nutrition or be essentially good hospital food in therapeutic situations. I can understand why they would gain trust, and look, if a dog is extremely ill and can’t keep anything down, stuff like their ER food can really help, I’ve had to use it before at the end of a pet’s life. I think these foods have their place, I do disagree with it being the only thing an animal eats for its entire life though.

I wish there was more discussion on the necessity of ample amounts moisture in dogs and cats when it comes to food. As well as addressing the high amounts of carbohydrates in kibble which can lead to diabetes, dental issues, and obesity. I understand where the vets are coming from in terms of their concerns surrounding the average person improperly handling raw food and then giving it to their pets, but I felt that there wasn't enough discussion on cooked food (minus bones), which would address the concerns surrounding salmonella.

Lot of bullshit in this video! I feed Darwin’s and Oma’s Pride Raw. Both are complete and balanced, and meet AFFCO standards, I am able to feed it without touching any of the raw food,without putting gloves on! My Puggle is a licker too! I have never been sick from my dog! My dog on the other hand,is healthier. Maintains a healthier weigh easily. No unnecessary vet trips. There are many dog professionals from trainers,to vets,to breeders, that will sing praises of the raw diet. I for one,will never feed kibble again!

This was a great watch and soothed a lot of my anxieties about feeding my pets. My cat is on Hill’s dry for weight loss and the internet was trying to convince me I was poisoning her or something 🥲 tbh I only ever saw good results from Hill’s myself in the past. For my dog I mostly feed Farmina but I get Hill’s now and again for variety. Farmina is a European brand backed by veterinary science but they don’t have as much research on their own food (like feeding trials) like Hill’s does. They’re also focused on a more “whole meat low carb” type of idea but their nutrients profiles seem a lot more balanced and in line with what vets recommend (from what I know) than a lot of other brands in that category. Their dry food is actually more affordable than Hill’s too, but the wet food is really pricey.

Corn and wheat are garbage cheap ingredients that shouldn't be in dog or cat food. It's really disheartening to see someone who is a board certified nutritionist propagate misinformation in favor of dry food. I don't even blame the vets, the system is broken and the conflict of interest is rampant. What you won't find are vets who have doctorates in nutrition who also specialize in peer review research that agree with anything said in this interview. So I guess now we can't even trust these "board certified nutritionists" either.

Wow, I really loved this. I am trying to educate myself as much as humanly possible before I bring my dog home next month. Based on what I’ve personally read, I’m going to feed a premade raw diet that meets AFCOO guidelines. The bones will be blended and I’ll feed daily dental sticks instead of whole bones. I’ve been a little worried about what a vet will think about me feeding raw, and it was so nice to hear a vet just say they will always be there to inform you so you can make your own decisions.

What happens when your dog snacks on road kill? Or an old hamburger on the side of a road?.... Dogs eat weird things and should not put their mouths on your face... Also, kibble has been known to have salmonella . Who doesn't clean well after a dog poops? I don't think we expect poop to be safe or clean. She is very personable and sharted off strong and then began losing footing fast... Didn't she say she is doing work for the dog food industry? It's funny that dog owners can't seem to make food for own their pets. They HAVE to purchase it from the dog food industry. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a youtube video like this that actually helped people create healthy homemade meals? What if Pediatricians decided that breast milk was NOT best and that all children should use formula. And next human children should only eat industry prepared baby food because homemade food is way too complicated for the parents to make and messing up the recipe could cause detrimental effects to the child. No nutritional advice or meal plans will be offered by the human healthcare industry. The food will come in a box, bag or can. I'm sad that she has such a fine education and great potential and has wasted it on supporting the pet food industry.

I disagree with yr food recommendations. My old dog been fed this ultra processed food. She was on her last legs. And could barley walk. I switched her to raw, she is now running and jumping. She is aging backwards now. Skin is more healthy, her activity is very high, as she use to sleep 22hrs a day. Now she runs, plays like she is 5 years younger. I feed my dogs whole ground up chicken (bones and all) Raw eggs Beef, pork, beef heart, beef kidney, beef liver. Sardines Maybe you should watch DR Karen becker. You guys talking about just stool, teeth, hair. But when yr dog goes from been barely alive to aging backwards. It speaks for itself. And all my other have shown big improvement in activity_level, and overall health. How come you're not speaking about all the cases of Salmonella poison from all the dry food. And majority of the case came from little kids aged around 2 years old. They get into and play with the dry dog food. If you can prepare raw food for cooking yourself and not get sick, why couldn't you prepare it for yr dogs, putting food in stainless steel bowls. And wash them daily. Wipe the mussels of yr dogs. Mars company, Hersey chocolate company makes majority of all dry and tin food, the also are the ones who pay to teach vets such as yrself about nutrition. Y would they pay to teach u the truth about their food. That's its basically the equivalent of feeding McDonald's. If you don't want to feed yr dogs raw, feed lightly cooked food. You been speaking of yr dogs living 8 years, and 10 years. Nbut people who feed raw are get 20 years and more. My 14 year old was at deaths door at age 12, and was declining from age 9. She been on raw for 2 years, and is more healthy than she was at aged 9. She can jump onto the couch with no problems at age 14, but at aged 10, she need to be lifted up. My cain Corso looks like he's in the gym lifting weights, 125lbs no fat, hair is super soft and shines as if I put oil in it. My 11 year old Yorkie had really bad skin, all his life, very irrated imfalmed, after 2 mo on raw it cleared up. 2 years later hasn't come back. My jack Russell hair was always coarse and dry. Is now way softer. And she doesn't shed as much as she use to My shih tzu, is black and white she looks like she some one polishes her like a bran new car, and her hair is soft like it was as a puppy My poodle hair is super shiny and super soft. All of my dogs are healthy and my 2 old ones have been acting like younger dogs. So I have 6 dogs thriving on raw, but on dry and tin food where not. And for people who don't want to make the raw themselves they can buy it pre-made.

Getting my chowchow as a new puppy on commercial wet dog food which was human grade good quality food but he had itchy skin, hot spots, ear problems head shaking, I put him on raw food and he was cured from these ailments. It was night and day, he miraculously recovered and started to thrive. He is nearly 4 now and hasn't had one problem since. He's a picture of health. All due to being fed a species appropriate diet. What about all the salmonella from kibble fed dogs, all the poisoning and food recalls. We have never been ill from raw feeding our dog in our household and we are not young. My parents regularly see him and they are in their 80's and 90's. No dental problems or impaction nor perforation if you feed appropriate raw meaty bones. Oh and most of us feed plenty of veg and fruit, soaked and ground seeds and nuts. Honestly this is a terrible video to listen to from so called intelligent people. You sound like you've been brain washed.so grains are good for dogs who have no need for carbohydrate in their diet. Corn is not bad you say, so why do most dogs get itchy from corn. .....educate yourself people.....

I will never feed toxic kibble. It isn't live food. Kibble has salmonella, fungi, and it can be stored for up to two years. Stop trying to fool people with this information. We aren't stupid. Handle raw biologically appropriate food just like you handle your own. Wash your hands after handling, common sense. This boring interview is not good. I've fed my dog raw since he was seven weeks old. He's eleven months now. He's healthy on raw. This interview just turned me off and I won't subscribe. Did kibble and canned exist one hundred years ago? Heck no! I'll stick to raw. I wanted to get more info on feeding but what I learned is that what you say here see not valid.
@margsimpson
@margsimpson 11 месяцев назад
This is exactly right. In fact I think raw feeders are normally really educated in pet health and know exactly how to feed the dog in front of them a really healthy diet. God I've even got a spread sheet for meal prepping to make sure I'm getting nutrients right and feeding the right ratios for the dog in front of me, not that I think adult dog needs perfectly balanced meal every day and I certainly never fed my kids prepping with a spread sheet. I have a lot of recipes I've formulated for my dog so if I had to talk with my vet about diet I could show them a number of meal plans so they could see I was doing things properly. The terrible joke is.......that I may have to discuss with someone like this woman who thinks my dog should be eating crappy kibble, pure starchy carb stuff to my dog every day for best health. It's a bad joke and how an educated woman like this can keep a straight face when peddling this kibble is beyond me.

Dogs that get itchy from corn get itchy because they have an allergy to corn. That said, far more dogs are allergic to certain meats e.g. chicken, pork, beef, etc. than grains. Although many dogs do have wheat and barley allergies too. If you recognise that your dog is allergic to a certain ingredient, avoid the ingredient. It is not rocket science. Your dog stopped becoming itchy because you stopped giving him the allergen (corn). You mention carbs/grains are not required in a dogs diet, but neither is vitamin C. Dogs make it on their own (unlike humans and guinea pigs). But we still feed it anyway. Carbs are villainised BC they have a bad rep in human nutrition.The types of carbs matter, e.g. grains are better than pure carbs because they provide additional minerals, fibres and vitamins, whilst meating calorie requirements. They certainly do no harm . And where did all the BS about vet schools being sponsored by hills come from 😂😂😂

I love this video. Yeah it was a bit light on feline nutrition. I have to say though, I wish pet food companies (basically all of them) wouldn't advertise for fad dieting. If they want clients to feed good pet nutrition and put all this money into it they should be advocating for it and giving owners information in their ads. (Please don't tell me your dog is a wolf) etc. I shop for food and see shelves of grain free and no meat by-products. Nobody is talking about how (if your dog skippy really is a wolf,) it eats the viscera first which are the meat by-products! I feel like this lack of information then perpetuated by good pet food companies leads owners to be very adamant in their false knowledge. We need more of this and more openness about what ingredients in pet food really are and do for your pet.

Do people realize that the BIG 4 [IAMS, Purina, Hills and Royal Canin] sponsor or even own the vet schools? They literally teach them to use their brands to cure ailments even though all their foods are filled with junk like corn, wheat, soy, rice, etc. Do you realize that a lot of big vet brands in the USA are owned by the BIG 4? Like Banfield and VCA are owned by Mars who also make Royal Canin/Whiskas. Vets are not taught a lot of nutrition in school and most of it is sponsored by the BIG 4. Realize that in the Western world it is a business first and pet care second. A lot of vets are owned by private equity who only care about $$$$. Learn animal physiology - cats and dogs are carnivores - it will solve all the confusion you have. Cats are strictly carnivores, while dogs are facultative -NO, they are NOT omnivores. A common mouse is 56% protein, 30% fat and 5% carbohydrates. Moreover, both cats and dogs do better by getting moisture from their food. Hence raw is the most species appropriate diet for both cats and dogs. Kibble is the worst; it has 10-12% moisture and is loaded with carbohydrates [in the 20-35% range]. Even premium kibble is an oxymoron. Raw diet will save you hundreds in vet bills and your pets will do MUCH better on raw than any kibble diet.

My dog was kibble fed first 6 months of his life, Royal Canin, Science Diet, etc. you name it. He was constantly suffering through GI upsets and we were going to the vet at least 2x a month. I finally got fed up with all the antibiotics prescribed and “prescription” diets and started researching on raw feeding. I finally switched him over and we have had zero GI issues for 18 months now. My second dog was weaned into a raw diet and has been raw fed his whole life and zero issues for him. Starbucks coffee is wonderful. I tend to choose it over local coffee shops. That is a bad analogy. When Nestle-Purina funds and provides the researchers for their food trials, that is called bias. The studies they produce are not high-quality, not replicated, and have huge conflicts of interest. These often have no control groups, low sample sizes, and short durations. In addition, these foods and ingredients go against all of the research we do actually know about feline nutrition. We know cats are obligate carnivores, and we know they eat primarily small mammals, such as mice, voles, and rabbits. Cats should be fed what they are evolutionarily designed to eat (or as close as possible). Big cats in zoos, such as lions, are fed foods such as ground horse meat and organs. Lions are not fed kibble or canned wheat gluten- and corn-diluted chicken byproducts. It's interesting Dr. Lindsey Bullen is arguing about some of the research that has been published that contradicts the Hill's studies. She said these aren't high quality, for example, they compare apples to oranges, but that's not true. Most of these studies, that are not produced by Hill's employees, control for many factors. I can't say I've seen the same for the Hill's "research." 43:30 ""If there is an ingredient that doesn't have a purpose, like, it's not going to be in there, because every ingredient has a cost, and the companies are trying to figure out how to make the best product with the least amount of overhead so they can make money, right? So it doesn't make any sense to put something in there that doesn't have a nutritive function or a physiological function or medical function." This is absolutely not true. The artificial colorings that are added to make kibbles a certain color (such as yellow, green, orange, etc.) are added so pet owners will like them and buy them, and that's a marketing technique. It's not for the benefit of the pet; it's for the benefit of the pet food company's wallets. She also mentions sugar as if sugar is fine to add because the pet food companies wouldn't add it if it wasn't good for the pet. Sugar is a cheap filler, and it's not nutritive for cats other than it being empty calories.
@stephaniecrahal5336
@stephaniecrahal5336 9 месяцев назад
@@ZaryaTheLaika Sure, that's fair. Maybe Hill's doesn't add food colorings specifically, so maybe the pet food companies she's really referring to aren't adding food colorings. But my point still stands that a company, that is designed to make as much money as possible, absolutely has a lot to gain by adding things to foods that are not in the best interest of the pet. For example, I just looked at the ingredients for one of Hill's foods for cats, and they added soybean oil. Yes, a cat needs to have a certain amount of fat in its diet, but why did they add soybean oil instead of chicken fat or a higher quality oil? I could wager a guess, and that would be that soybean oil is extremely cheap.
@stephaniecrahal5336
@stephaniecrahal5336 9 месяцев назад
@@ZaryaTheLaika Not to be argumentative, but I'm not so certain that is correct. Phosphorous is commonly added to pet foods in the form of ingredients that end in phosphate. Calcium is also added. Feline nutritionists who advocate for biologically-appropriate foods often identify corn gluten, wheat gluten, grains, and vegetables as "fillers," meaning they are added to reduce the cost to the pet food manufacturer. There is a food called Wervua Wx, and it is low in phosphorous but contains none of these "fillers." It is primarily animal products and added vitamins/minerals. The only non-animal ingredient added is sunflower oil, which is a higher quality oil compared to soybean oil. Sunflower oil contains alpha-tocopherol, which is a better version of vitamin E than gamma-tocopherol, which is in soybean oil. If it were true that animal ingredients contained too much phosphorus (leading to an inappropriate Ca:P ratio) and needed to be diluted by other ingredients, then this Weruva Wx food would not be able to be so low in phosphorous. Wervua does not remove the phosphorous that is already there in the meat; they simple ensure there is not too much bone added and don't add any phosphate ingredients. Wervua Wx foods are less than $2 per 3 oz can, whereas a 3 oz can of Royal Canin is slightly more.

I see a lot of people on fb bashing purine, royal canon, and hills and when people mention their pet was diagnosed with the same medical condition as my own (diabeties) I always say my vet recommended hills and royal canon on a low glucose diet. I feed my cat glycobalance to maintain her weight with her specific diabetic control I feed 6 cans a day (3 per meal) and the responses I get back are ridiculous. People are always like “that’s a horrible brand you should do a raw diet”. If people want to feed a raw diet that’s fine but don’t tell me that I am being a bad pet parent for listening to my vets instructions. I’m just offering my experience and people tell me I’m wrong. I think people are so stuck in their ways that no matter what the medical condition is they always say just go raw and it’ll fix the problem. No a raw food diet will not fix my cats brain tumor which is causing her diabeties. That’s not how it works. Would it be nice to provide my cat with a premium diet, yes! But do you have any idea how much work it is to take care of my cat? She gets senvelgo, telimasol, cabergoline, gabapentin, felimizol, insulin, daily ketone tests, hourly blood glucose tests, she goes to the vet for blood pressure, urinary analysis, full thyroid panels, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, and she has to get a new sensor put on every 1-2weeks and the vet is an hour away. I also have a full time job and work from the time I wake up until the time I sleep 7 days a week. I barely have time to feed or bathe myself. When do I have time to prepare and cook a meal for my cat? And on top of that I’m a pescatarian and I have never cooked meat a day in my life so I’m not even sure how to know when it is properly cooked and you can’t just serve your pet raw food even though that’s what the title of the diet is because all foods are covered in salmonella and the only way to get it off is to cook it. I dont think that people should put such an emphasis on this when we are all just doing our best and not everyone has the time or the money to give their pet raw food and it’s not even what their vet is recommending so why are we going through the trouble of making or obtaining it?

Though what I am getting raw food diet isnt recommended not because it's bad but because the risk of disease is higher and it already hard enough to find decent kibble but to find raw food manufacturers who are safe is harder and if not successful dangerous. With kibble is easier to source and buy and with low risk of getting a serious disease from it or bacteria. I also know that with people who do raw food they easily through of the balance and it gets really expensive. So for the raw food discussion I think if there was a trusted raw food manufacturer it would be fine right. I came to this channel form emozotic who was doing raw diet with her dog called wefeedraw and it looked like a good deal. But I wanted to learn more before I bought it this helps a lot thanks.

@@DM-ql6ps I know this I was considering raw because my dog doesnt like kibble and only eats a little to the point he was getting underweight I took him to the vet and he was fine he just wasnt eating. Before he was eating soft food as he was still a puppy then I switch him to kibble but he hated it so I tried to switch him back to soft food but It gave him diarrhea. So I have been cycling through kibble brands to find one he like but also are good for him. So I thought about raw feeding maybe he'd take more to it but it I did try it after this video but the up keep and the price of raw was really too much for me so I just started rewarding him when he eats his food I would give him a treat when he finished his bowl of food. Later I found a brand he liked enough to eat without treats but he would still occasionally not eat and I would have to give him a treat. Honestly raw feeding is a nuisance it sloppy and gross and the tar that builds up on your dogs teeth is horrible I had to brush his teeth every day to get rid of his breath and tar.

@@chimchimbiasedwreckedbyjin4056I've been feeding my dog raw since he was seven weeks old. He is a large breed. His teeth are so white, I don't have to worry about tar build up. Raw soup bones are good for that. Raw chicken bones ect. Dr Ian billinghurst, Dr Karen Becker, and other excellent vets. My dog is eleven months old and weighs one hundred fifty pounds. I wanted a titer test to find any lack of nutrients in his blood but his vet said he's too healthy for that. His vet knows he's on raw. I had a rescue and he was in bad shape when I took him to the vet. After a few months on raw I took him back and they asked me if I had gotten another dog. They were so surprised when I told them no. He became a healthy dog after feeding him raw. He had whole body inflammation before going on raw. The poor pup didn't look good and he wasn't happy before switching him to raw.

Yes you can do it via internet, zoom etc, or on the phone. There's loads of info on how to provide home prepared whole food for your dog, just do your research first, don't be lazy on this aspect because there is lots of bad info out there, like this lindsey bullen telling people to feed junk pet food kibble and telling people there is nothing to avoid when choosing a pet treat, she says everything in treats is OK even all the sugars. Now wonder theres so many fat diabetic dogs out there. There's good books and bad books, same as good nutritionists and bad. , Don't go by you tube videos and Internet until you've done your research so you at least know the basics so you can root out the good from the rubbish. After you are enlightened to the basics then you tube is pretty good for a free source of info. There is plenty of free information out there to use once you have researched the basics. Good on you wanting to look into feeding your pet real whole food. You'll see a huge difference in your pet once you start feeding a whole food diet. At least you are realising that the companies like hills diet plan, royal canin, purina and the likes are total crap and whole real food is the way to go. I am quite sickened by lots of the stuff that has come out of lindsey bullens mouth in this interview. The guy seems an OK guy and seemed to keep pretty quiet during the whole video, makes me wonder if he actually agreed with much of what she was saying or he realised she was giving a talk for the candy companies who produce the crappy kibble that they try to convince people of being good food for our pets.

(He recommended the brand ND grain free kibble). When I calculated the prices to make a comparison, i saw that kibble price is almost as same as the homemade food although our prescribed eating plan is %75 percent muscle mat and organs (everything human grade) Weird huh? i seriously wonder what kind of “meat” they put to be able to sell this imported processed dog food at that price.

I disagree with most of this, she is lovely and clearly cares about animals, but there is a disconnect going on between her answers and raw feeding facts. One example is when she said feeding a bone could cause impaction or fractured teeth. Yes, if you give too big of a bone that could happen (like a beef bone), but if you give an appropriately sized raw meaty bone to your dog (example, a chicken foot or wing for a German shepherd), those things won't happen, or if they do it's extremely rare. But she didn't bother to explain that, just immediately jumped to the worst case scenario of feeding your dog too big of a bone, and most of her answers are like this. Idk if it's intentional or not Also, salmonella isn't a problem for dogs, it's just a problem for the humans. But people already eat meat anyway, so if you're not vegan, you're probably already handling raw meat. I'm vegan but I feed my ball python frozen thawed rats for 3 years and have had no issues because I practice safe handling While kibble isn't as bad as some people say, I still think it's ridiculous to say it's better than a balanced raw diet. How come every other canid eats meat, yet pet dogs need to eat kibble? Even though they all have the exact same digestive tract? Dogs can eat raw just fine, it's making sure it's balanced that's the issue. Dogs also arent designed to eat all rhe carbs and dryness in kibble. And that is where I agree that for the average person, feeding kibble is better unless you have the time to devote to learning how to feed raw. The other thing I agree with is that unfortunately meat goes through a lot before it goes to the grocery store. In a perfect world I would feed my dog freshly killed meat, but I live in a city so meat from the grocery store is the next best thing. Dogs have really strong stomachs and can handle it, as long as it's not going bad Anyway, I like hearing opinions from all sides, I feed kibble and raw so I'm on both sides lol but I just don't like how the answers she gives aren't accurate to the questions

You should drop the garlic. Like onions, it contains N-propyl disulphide which destroys their red blood cells which can result in severe anemia if they eat too much for too long, which can result in death if it goes untreated. Best to simply not feed it at all.

My heart aches for all her clients that she recommends kibble to. For all the four legged ones. She’s like a parrot repeating “complete and balanced”. She’s a zombie of this system. I home cook for my dog and give him raw food too. I hope to avoid doctors like her 🙏

She says everything that I'd imagine her to say. I can tell from the corporate sounding way she talks, that she'd recommend everything that the food companies and vets would. Raw, fresh beef and chicken bones are 100% fine and more healthy than anything that 95% of dogs will ever eat in the US. They have a great time chewing on them and it's very safe as long as they aren't a super aggresive eater and swallow a huge piece of bone.. if they are like that, watch them closely when they eat it. As long as they don't choke, they'll all good. Cooked bones are never safe. Bone marrow is super healthy for us and for dogs. Unlike striaght-up meat like chicken or beef, eggs are a highly nutrient dense protein that they'll love and are more healthy than beef, chicken, and turkey meat. They can have eggs all of the time since eggs provide a wide array of nutrients that other proteins can't compete with. Dogs should highly limit their carb intake. They should stay away from all grain/gluten regardless of any diagnosed gluten sensativity. There is no need for grain in their diet.. it just brings down costs of food so that's why it's in there. Gluten itself doesn't benefit anyone. Now, kibble is pretty balanced (too much carbs tho) but it's highly processed and all nutrients are added back which is like us taking a supplement to get all of your nutrients. It's a terrible way to go. Those added back nutrients are not of the same quality as the nutrients in their natural form from real foods. Let your dog fast a little each day and don't let food sit around. And be skeptical of your vets nutritional advice. They are very conservative with recommendations. Human doctors are the same way... they are not educated on nutrition at all so don't even ask unless they are in great shape. It's not even worth mentioning to them since you have the internet available to you. Never take nutrional advice from a dog owner who has a fat dog.

I must say, this was infuriating to listen to. This lady is obviously well educated in her field, but her viewpoint on kibble is just wrong and simply dangerous. Raw is what is best for our dogs, that is fact. Anyone who feels different i urge you to search up Dr. Judy Morgans (Very high up in canine nutrition) who has done many videos, articles and books on canine nutrition and the have benefits of raw feeding. The lady in this video says the same stuff that your typical vet would say about raw feeding, they are against it and will push kibble. Vets are not canine nutritionists, they in fact only touch on nutrition during veterinary school. The companies that own these kibble companies, like MARS, fund these schools and it's of course in their best interest to push and promote their product. They know raw fed dogs are far far healthier and require FAR less visits to the vets, which brings them less money. Their fancy qualifications and credentials cover wool over your eyes.
@laurenscool1
@laurenscool1 7 месяцев назад
Judy Morgan is not qualified to speak on nutrition. It is not her specialty. What scientific study have you seen that made you say raw is better?
@Mattnozz
@Mattnozz 7 месяцев назад
@@laurenscool1 Judy Morgan is more qualified to speak about pet nutrition than your vet is. Putting the studies to one side for the moment, You need to apply a bit of common sense here, Lauren. These kibble companies, especially "higher end" kibbles, will market their product as trying to closely replicate a dogs ancestral diet as much as possible, since its the most optimal way to feed your dog. The modern-day dog, the Timber wolf and the Tundra Wolf are classed under the umbrella of the Grey Wolf as Canis Lupus and they share over 99.9% of the mitochondrial DNA (Mitochondria being part of a cell that converts the chemical energy from food into a form that the cells of the body can use) which means the ideal diet of the wolf is also the ideal diet for your dog. Are you honestly telling me a dried biscuit, a product made by companies such as MARS (Yes, the company that produces all your lovely sweets and chocolates) and marketed to fool Humans, is more suitable for my dog instead of whole, unprocessed food that hasn't been stripped of its nutrition and reapplied with sprays? It's like me telling you to only eat mcdonalds everyday as it contains your protein, carbs and fats, and take a multi vitamin to make up all the missing things that aren't naturally there. There are so many brilliant videos on these platforms from highly reputable canine nutritionists and professors who go into great detail on the wonders of raw feeding. I urge you to take some time and do this research and stop being brainwashed by these kibble companies to buy their product.
@laurenscool1
@laurenscool1 7 месяцев назад
@@Mattnozz Judy Morgan is a fear mongering quack with no nutrition qualifications. She's not even practicing anymore. Dogs have different digestive systems than wolves do. Dogs and wolves are not the same and do not require the same diet Dogs have been DOMESTICATED. They only exist because we made them exist, and they eat a diet that has been given to them by humans. Not to mention wolves in captivity raised by humans eating kibble with raw meat on the side live longer than wild ones 😂 in the "wild" feral dogs will eat street trash. McDonalds or any other fast food is not meant to be a balanced and complete diet for humans so its worthless to compare the 2. Your arguments are nothing but false equivalencies, where I only care about what can and can't be scientifically proven. I will not use resources that cannot even link their sources and when they do they link the least credible sources on planet earth that might as well be making things up. I implore you to look at who is actually giving you this information and there they found their claims. If you think it's been stripped of its nutrition that just goes to show that you know NOTHING about nutrition. Astronaut food for example is processed so that it is long lasting and doesn't go bad, but it's also made and formulated to be nutritious and keep very ACTIVE human beings in space alive and healthy. Just because it is preserved and baked and packaged doesn't mean it has no nutritional value lmao I assume you're a person who cooks? You don't eat chicken raw? Or pork or beef? You cook your vegetables? I am a person who cooks everything I eat and yet I am still alive and still healthy. The nutritional value was not stripped from my food because I processed it. Again, there are some humans who cannot eat whole foods and rely on formulas made by qualified nutritional doctors to keep them alive and it fits their every nutritional requirement perfectly. The reason why we eat lovely meals with vegetables, meats, grains and we eat a variety every day is simply because we enjoy it. We could 100% live a healthy life eating a balanced and complete meal replacement made by a doctor (not made by ourselves because we simply don't have the qualifications to do so and will do it wrong). Most humans eat poorly. Most humans don't reach our nutritional requirements every day so to expect them to do it for a dog? Please. Studies show that the vast majority of home made diets are either missing important nutrients entirely or they have an excessive amount in some. You have people who thought for sure they were doing right by their dog only to find out they are the reason their dogs bones have been slowly disintegrating and some never recover. There is a frightening amount of cases like this. You wouldn't make your own baby formula at home in your kitchen would you? I think you should do some scientific research rather than emotion based research brought to you by people who profit from your fear

Go look that up and tell me skin, hair, hoofs, and all the left over carcus that even a wolf won’t eat from animals that WE won’t eat are heated to a powder is good for you dog or cat??? Which school did you guys attend? Was it at Disney land? LOL…I think that Vets just because they go to school does not mean they are right! Some things you say & talk about make sense but you say raw only if you have a chicken farm? What about the Vets that go into meat markets a grocery stores to ensure the meat is okay? Honestly, I think you would do better to tell us how to prepare a balanced meal for our dogs! Or how to prepare raw so it’s better. Even which products are good for our pets, Dechra Eicosa Omega, probiotics, Vitamins, supplements, even shampoos or allergy treatments would be better to know.

There are many experts who will tell you kibble is terrible - and many who will tell you it is the best thing ever. Most of them are selling something or making video's to make money - so it gets very confusing for the average Joe to know which way to go. Are dogs passing away earlier today? or not? and if so is it from over breeding? or food? Sure makes me wonder.
