It's sometimes difficult to pick the cloud base from the ground when all I planned on doing was a few low level circuits anyway. On this day I could very easily have found myself flying VFR into IMC just 30 seconds after takeoff. Had to decide immediately to lower the nose to stop climbing and turned to stay clear of the thickening cloud. A low level circuit then back to land.

From the camera viewpoint it appears there is plenty of movement on upper tube, thought camera might just be shaking, but believe it is the tube. I suppose on lighter aircraft they are not as rigid to meet weight requirements, and that this is the norm, and not really anything to be concerned about? It’s a beautiful ultralight, seen several videos of your bird, certainly nothing wrong with yours workmanship.

Cool vid. Looked fairly overcast upon takeoff but maybe the ceiling was lifting, obviously I don't know the weather report. I want to build a legal eagle XL but to be honest it probably be faster for me to just work more overtime and buy a plane, LOL. my biggest problem is space, I have a garage but it's converted into a living area so I'd sort of be throwing away $1,000 a month in rent which I could basically buy a used plane in a year or so if I saved all that money for that

I would highly recommend buying a Legal Eagle given your position and also because you can buy them for less than you pay in materials to build. This means you could be flying sooner :)

also out of sure curiosity have you ever had licensed pilots giving you any grief about how dangerous it is to fly an ultralight without a license? I'm constantly thinking about how much training I should get prior to going up, not like I have my own plane and I have to worry about it right now but I do think about it. I have a great school nearby but the way they charge it's like three hours of instructor time and one hour of flight time so it's like $400 plus for every hour of flight time towards about 20 hours for a private license

I hear you. I am actually licensed myself and can see that becoming licensed can be expensive. I recommend in the video to get some kind of training on flying an ultralight even though you do not need a license in the USA. There are some other options to getting "trained" to fly vs "licensed" to fly. Getting some flying time in a 2 seater ultralight is a good way to become familiar with how they fly and learning about your own skill level. Maybe put the call out for a local guy who is happy to share their passion for flying with you. Flying is fun and you want it to be safe too. Think of it this way, training and/or licensing is always going to be cheaper than any medical expenses from a botched landing. Not to mention funeral costs and the massive hole left behind for family and friends. Be safe mate :)
