would love to see y'all talk more about real-time rendering via game engines vs slower rendering for film production and how the technical aspects of both have changed over time.

Yes! I am back with my weekly Michael Jackson request. Did you know Paul Debevec also worked on the posthumous MJ hologram at the 2014 Billboard awards. If this was mentioned in the video, whoops! Muh baaaad! Now, may we please get vfx artists react to Michael Jackson 😁

This is a really unique direction to take the series, and I'm glad we're looking more and more at the artists and programmers behind these techniques to see just how much blood and sweat goes into thes things. If you're talking about tech stuff, Animal Logic has been pretty historic about going overboard with their coding to get some really complicated results for their films, some of which I can't find any record of seeing anywhere else. Fur, feathers, scales, muscle sims, there's a lot to look at there.

I don’t know if y’all know it or not, but I’ve noticed something. I started watching these videos from day one, however long ago that was, and since then I’ve noticed a change in OTHER RU-vid channels and the way they talk about VFX. A ton of different reaction channels and breakdown channels pull a ton of knowledge from your videos. You’ve become the best most digestible place to learn about VFX on the platform and the evidence is pretty clear.

Back when I dabbled with 3D rendering back around 2000 as a teen, I encountered Paul's name and work at every corner. I've seen every of the late 90s videos shown here when they came out, yet I haven't seen his face or heared him talk until today! He always seemed to me like a reclusive older genius because of how much I've seen of his incredibly advanced work which always floored me, but never anything about the person. Turns out: He isn't even much older than me, and a really chill guy! I'm floored once again. Thanks for this episode, and thanks Paul for nothing less than revolutionizing computer graphics so profoundly!

I've been watching VFX Artists React since episode 1 just because I find it interesting. As a programmer, with no career overlap with movie making, I was not expecting to have an episode that went into programming the software that makes VFX work and this was such a treat.

I love how you guys bring to the spotlight, people that were never known (by the general public) for their work and they got to now be someone’s hero. Like Paul… he’s a freaking legend for me know and I have a massive respect towards him. He probably doesn’t need it. To be recognized and stuff, but…like damn. If I see him in the street I would definitely ask for a picture and tell the people around me at that moment: “That guys is a legend because of this and this” (using the sound of “That’s f*cking Obi-Wan Kenobi)”. In other words, thank you guys for finding a cool way to share knowledge and your heroes with it. Awesome RU-vid channel. -A fan that hasn’t missed a single video since your very first VFX artist react.
