8:02 “As far as the world has been able to figure out, it’s impossible” the real gamechamp would say “Good thing we’re not IN the world” as it cuts to him on the international space station doing some ridiculous technique all just to not shoot a portal in Portal
Jonas Charif the movement, story, graphics, and world are all still so good to this day. It’s not exactly an underrated game but as far as platformers/collectathons go, this game still holds up as one of the best of them.
I disagree. As someone who didn't play Jak and Daxter growing up and having played it recently, it's very clunky at points and the platforming is very awkward. Plus the hoverbike is like steering a boat
Well hello personally I found the game to be great but I played it on PS4. After all it was a PlayStation 2 game originally... so what’s the problem with playing it on console? I actually got it free along with my preorder of a PS4 exclusive game (Uncharted The Lost Legacy) a couple years ago.
I used to have (probably still have lying around somewhere) a scratched original PS2 version of this game. After the disc had been scratched, I was forced to avoid every precursor orb if I wanted to play the game. Every time I collected a precursor orb, the game completely froze for typically 4-5 minutes, but sometimes longer. One day I decided I'd try to play through the game like this. I didn't go for every power cell, but I got pretty far, and there were a lot of times where I was stumped on how to get past certain spots. Mid-way into my no-orbs playthrough of the game, the Jak & Daxter HD Collection came out, so I gave up. Thank you for making this video. I thought this challenge was impossible, and it was interesting to see it be completed Edit: Somehow missed all the people that have responded to this. It's not like my disc ONLY had issues with precursor orbs, and it's also not like EVERY single orb caused my game to freeze; some orbs would be fine when i occasionally accidentally picked them up. Certain areas were laggier than others and different ecos were laggy to pick up/equip/whatever term you want to use (especially vents iirc). I was also playing this on a fat ps3 that I often had issues with, so it could have been the console's fault partially. If my fat ps3 still works (its been unplugged and collecting dust ever since i replaced it with a super slim ps3) I'll make a video showcasing areas of the game next time I'm home/get the chance.
@DiPpY ZiPpY 97 First, the OC said "freeze for 4-5 minutes", not "crash" , so it could be a near-infinite-loop rather than a system error... I wouldn't be surprised that a damaged disc, by random chance, would do something really laggy when asked to play the sound effect for a collected orb or to render the orb counter on the screen. The orb render would be my favorite choice as the problem would cease once the normally-few-seconds counter would stop being shown on screen When I tried to start jak 2 before cleaning my disc, I had a strange effect During the start menu cutscene, both the camera and the music would freeze every few seconds during a few seconds, while the zoomers in the background would continue moving as usual... I had no idea the game could freeze both of those for loading, while still animating the city. When playing Crash Nitro Kart, during ONE game session, the images shown during the level loading were modified : the lower-right corner was showing a zoom of the image... after restart, never happened in nearly one decade.
I've been playing this game since I was 5 years old. It never fails to amaze me how many people still play this game and all the secrets they've discovered. The Debug mode was just found in May 2018. 17 years after the game came out. I love that there is still a community for this game. And I hope it lasts. Even the erotic fanfics. Hopefully we can get NaughtyDog to make Jak 4 for realz this time.
You seem to have this thing down... but i have the hardest challenge that you will EVER face... are you ready? Can you beat cuphead without firing? Now i know what you are thinking, "wait, that's impossible!" but i assure you, with use of parrying, ex moves, supers and the purchased coffee / axe parry, it is completely POSSIBLE to complete cuphead without pressing the fire button ONCE . Although it IS possible, it would be you're most difficult VG Myth YET. So i'll understand if you don't want to. Good luck
@@JackDDS It's the last Jak and Daxter game and it was for the PSP. And yes... it said "Jak And Daxter"; it wasn't like the other bad sequels, it was the true revival of Jak and Daxter, and it was worth it to play... but yeah, the odds of a sequel is like the odds of Sly 5 (and also Sly 5 not being a bad game like Sly 4 was; even the boss battles were bad)
@YGuy1 you can have a different developer work on IP without creating unpolished shit. i mean look at the call of duty franchise. say what you will about cod, but atleast its pretty much always cod, even though its had 4-5 different dev teams working on it. also dont shit on jak-X that game was a great cart racer, with a decent narrative. it wasnt supposed to be a sequel to jak 3 or anything like that. its a spin off, let it be a spin off you dont have to take it so seriously.
I'm replying so GameChamp might see Can you do Beating Spiderman (Any one you can even wait for ps4 one :D) without using bed (Ps Sp2 is well nearly impossible Mysterios challenge I leave that up to you to find :D
Der are poisonous eels in this river... Catch even one of them boogers, and you’ll POISON the whole darn catch! Did you know Kevin Conroy voiced the fisherman?
Incidentally, in Gamechamp’s “Season 1 Ranked by Diffculty” video, he said that people have figured out how to collect the two missing power cells; the Gnawing Lurker one can be collected by crawling into it, and another bug lets you trigger the Precursor blockers in Snowy Mountain without the game registering that you touched the orbs. As such, it is possible to collect every single non-purchase Cell in the game without collecting a single orb.
Jackson Billy No, you’re supposed to be forced to grab those orbs when you jump on the blockers, as you would normally, but that other video shows that specific movement lets you touch the blockers without collecting the orbs.
@@RandoMan279 Basically, you can enter a state in which the game thinks you're dead but you can still move around and interact with certain elements, but it prevents you from being able to pick up any collectables (orbs, cells, flies, eco). This lets you easily press the buttons on the blockers without getting the orbs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A5829I3YAyg.html
Crash Bandicoot without breaking boxes is impossible, depending on what you consider "breaking boxes". If you mean the box counter saying 0, then it's impossible because of the levels where you're chased (the bear, boulder, dino, etc all break boxes in their way), and in a level where you ride a bear, some tnt boxes are already activated. Crash Twinsanity could work though, since there are no box counters in that game.
I did this game recently with my girlfriend (who had played during her youth) and I was surprised how good it feels to play :) truly a ps2 classic and one of best 3D platformers in history right next to the Marios, Raymans and Banjos
I think there are items you have to buy to complete the game, which requires collecting bolts. Though who knows, maybe he can glitch through shit to avoid it.
Beat the Octo Expansion Without one of the following: 1. Main Weapons 2. Sub Weapons 3. Jumping 4. Turning into a Octo Do whatever would be the most/least probable. Also no pearl loans ;-) Extra: You can skip levels, but you can only beat each level with each weapon ONCE, so no grinding for CQ points. With that extra part, the objective is the minimum amount of pearl loans.
OtterloopB Not everyone agrees with you on what happens when you die and therefore choose not to follow the rules of the bible. You may feel like you are definitely in the right but nobody cares. You can’t save us all.
what about double ground pound with luigi? wont all the coins fall down and start to despawn by then? its how it worked in the wii version as I recall.
Jak and Daxter was one of the first games i ever played on Ps2. it will always hold a special place in my heart, and i’m so happy you did this challenge run. it’s such a great game, and i’m really happy you gave it this publicity. such a great video, man.
I love that you are so dedicated in your videos. I could probably do this very same thing, but give up at most of the orbs, but you always stretch the limits of the game! Also, that Jak trilogy is my favorite game collection ever, so I loved this
Dude you're seriously becoming one of my all time favorites on this site. Great video, and great commentary. Also bonus points for playing my favorite game of all time in a way I've never thought of playing.
One-Eyed King If I recall there was a guy who did it on Jak 2 and 3. Im pretty sure he was also the guy who completed all the games one handed. If I find him ill leave his channel name
Youre thinking of sixrock and six wouldn't touch jak II even if you paid him to do it, side note jak II can be done without shooting... in NG+ because then you can snag infinite dark eco for dark bomb spam which cheeses everything. The only reason it likely can't be done is Metal Kor.... but because im interested Ill put myself in the blender and bootup jak II again to see if I can cook something up.
The only boss fights in any% for jak II are Mars tomb - Praxis | Factory - Krew | Nest - Kor, but the more I think about it the more annoying praxis fight would be.
Or maybe Banjo-Kazooie without Banjo? (no moves that use exclusively banjo; no rolls, punches, regular jumps, swimming on the surface of water, climbing, or even walking)
Love this videos, wish to see more with some of the old 64 games :) like Legend of Zelda, Mario Cart, etc. but also just in general these videos are really cool to see. Love how creative and how much time goes into them to see what is possible. Keep up the amazing work!
11:46 you can get this cell orbless - speedrunners worked out that if you crawl into the cell jak's hitbox stays below the orb, just make sure you hold the crouch button through the entire cell grab cutscene :) - discovered this while looking into strats to potentially get back into the game
How many Power Eggs do you have to collect to beat Hero Mode (either Splatoon) or CQ points in the Octo Expansion? (Basically a minimum power/minimum kills/other stuff run. You have to fight bosses, bosses drop Power Eggs, clearing levels in Octo give points, and Pearl gives you 3k if you ever run out trying to Skip Charge through the entire campaign)
How funny that the blockers finally got figured out only two days after this video came out xD great video and thanks for the exposure for the speedrunning community!
Most Kirby games are in some way, designed you can beat stuff without copy abilities. like the void termina 2D parts where you can kill him with love. LITERALLY.
now beat any pokemon mystery dungeon game without using moves it might be possible since there are blast seeds but it's gonna be ridiculously hard when you can only use a weak attack and items
Every time I see or play this game I think, wow what a beauty this game is. The environment and the colours just invite you in, and it is a pleasant game to play. I wished we got more games like this. Jak 2/3 would've been better if they had more special zones and smaller Haven City/Wastelands :)
Enemies automatically give you shiny objects when defeated too, and there's a lot of times in which you gotta defeat a series of enemies before moving on. Plus certain worlds need shiny objects in order to open up paths that allow you to go on. If it's possible then it would probably require a ton of sequence breaking and skips.
A few days ago I decided to play this game like this and I don't know how, but somehow I got most of the orbless power cells so far. However now I'm at the lava tube and I keep failing at the orb covered bridge right away. I try flying through the orbs but I keep grabbing them, and I'm afraid to go slowly because of the heat time limit. I'll keep trying, but I still somehow figured out most of those puzzles you showed. Playing this game orbless actually makes it a lot more fun. Great video!
These videos are excellent and, even thought i've never played these games or really care about them, it's always incredibly interesting to hear the strategies and exploits you use.
0:08 In Super Mario Galaxy, you play as Mario, on a quest to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser while retrieving Power Stars scattered through space. One of the game's key mechanics is the Spin Jump, where the player shakes the Wii remote after jumping to make Mario gain extra vertical height. But, let's be real, a double jump in a Mario game is WAY too OP. So today, I ask myself, can you beat SUPER MARIO GALAXY without using the spin jump?
This run was fucking brilliant. I thought initially this was just some clickbait nonsense, but I'm legit impressed. This was creative as hell. Earned a sub from me.
How about no Copy Abilities? Of course, for non-Kirby characters, the following restrictions would be applied: 1. Party members may only be added if there aren't enough of them to progress. 2. Allies must be assigned to human player slots. 3. Unless you're in a section with a split path, an ally's controller must be kept idle at all times. 4. If an ally dies, manually reviving it is not allowed. Pro tip for Meta Knight: stand on his platform, and he'll throw your sword in the trash.
3:51 figured this out after I kept getting killed by the dark eco. Was the most amazing thing I'd ever done in my life at the time. Granted I was like 8 but still my mind was blown.
No. Story quests require picking stuff up. If we're talking no extra pickups, then technically yes, but you'd be terribly under-equipped and probably struggling for ammo the entire playthrough, especially with the low money (BL1) making SDUs almost impossible to get, or actually impossible to get (BL2 & BL:TPR) with the currency completely locked put. Not only that, but certain quests would be locked: you'd need to pick things up in them, and we only allow story pickups. For the most part, you'd need to be 3 levels overleveled to use weapons 5 levels underleveled and not die, which would be a nuisance. Also, melee builds would more or less be infeasible for this run, making you low ammo and weak weapons even more of a handicap. If we're lenient in saying that you can't pick up extra weapons and equipment (or Eridium or Moonstones) but you CAN collect ammo and health, then the game becomes playable. Not easily, mind you, as the stuff you have is still weak and lacking in terms of usability, but it would certainly be doable.
Alright I got a challenge for you that will possibly top any stupid thing you've done with a game, what is the MAXIMUM number of Nuralmods you can get in Pray 2017 INCLUDING mods you can craft, so this run will require you not to fabricate ANYTHING except mods and to spend your eairly mods wisely to get as many materials as possible
I’m a little late to this, but I actually had an issue with the spider caves once upon a time with that specific group of orbs that you get from killing the last centipede. I died after killing it before getting the power cell and after the respawn the orbs were gone and only the power cell was there, it left my perfectionist child self frustrated as it meant I couldn’t 100% the game.
