What a coincidence, I actually got the same exact boot earlier this week as well. Viberg service boot, 2030 last, brown chromexcel, without a cap toe. It instantly became a favourite among my boot collection approaching two digits.

Got a slightly used set on Mercari the same exact build you’re describing. Currently have some iron rangers since I work for red wing. I’ve heard so much about how vibergs are the cream of the crop as far as service boots go so I’m very curious about them

Enjoying your uploads and more so with the Vibergs. I have the colour 8 version and can say they are built to last. Agree that for a boot they seem more for light usage but that works for me. When I heard you mention you have about 100 pairs of boots in another video- that is some passion you have.

I bought my first pair of Vibergs a couple months ago. Brown kudu on the 1035 last. Beautiful and beautifully made. I'm looking to add black chromexcel 2030s to my collection. I actually don't have any black boots and Viberg has definitely caught my attention now.

Those are classic. Viberg just nails it with this boot. 2030 last, immaculate stitching and some of the best Chromexcel that is made. Yes, the price is definitely a premium. But, those boots are worth it.

I really like Saphir's Oiled Leather cream on Chromexcel. I've seen Venetian Shoe Cream recommended by both Horween and Viberg. After a few years of use, I found it too waxy and dressy-looking for my taste (on a Chromexcel service boot, anyway.) The type of shine that can blind you in the sun. Maybe I overdid it! Whatever the case may be, the Saphir cream provides more of a warm sheen that I'm a fan of, and it smells great!

Teik, I like your presentations and watch your blog each time one comes out. As to Viberg, that’s my Holy Grail of boot. Living in the United States, I purchase a size 12 Viberg boot while wearing a size 13 in running shoes. Their web sizing chart states to move down one size from a sporting shoe size to fit into their 2030 last. I’m sure that relates to their other lasts. Take care and continue on your boot journey.
@Bootlosophy
@Bootlosophy 8 месяцев назад
Indeed! Their size 12 is a UK size 12 which is equivalent to a US size 13 (one NUMBER down in the UK) and they are true-to-size.

Im a US 11 D on a brannock device. I've tried on Vibergs in 9.5, 10, and 10.5. For me 10.5 is definitely the best size of those. The pair I currently own is 10.5 in the 1035 last. I recommend new Viberg customers try them on in a store if you can. If you can't I would say err on the side of a little big and go .5 down from your true US size. You can always wear thick socks or add an insole if there's more room than you prefer.

I am a huge fan of the 310 Last (I have two pair), but I’m still curious about the 2030. However I think I’ll try a 2040 first, I like how it still has a sprung toe.
@liljuanito123
@liljuanito123 2 месяца назад
I feel and visually see the new 2030 pattern is straighter at the toebox and doesn't hook in like the older pattern. My big toe (only right foot) can hit the side a lil more than I like it to. 2040s hook inwards more and feel way better. But that's after walking a mile in them. At the office or just down the block is no big deal.

Vibergs really are different. It is almost impossible to describe, but you get as close as possible. I was fortunate and got a beautiful Dublin leather pair on sale from Division Road. But, aye, the full price: $900? $1k? For me, I can't justify that with so many good alternatives. But if you can, DR has some incredible makeups, and they will make sure you get the right size.

Hi Teik, thanks for your channel which is good and thoughtful content (I’ve liked and subscribed). Quick question… I have a Viberg Service Boot in the 2030 last made of natural kangaroo, which is a good and resilient leather. Nice boot but I’m struggling with how best to care for that leather. Any suggestions on how to best care for that leather (and not darken/change its color) given where you’re from? Thanks in advance!

I’d say regular neutral Venetian Shoe Cream. It will darken over time, all natural leathers will.

After watching your videos on viberg I ended up buying one. I usually prefer horweens Essex line though. I do have a question: the Chromexcel seems to be more shiny/glossy compared to something like Dublin leather. Is that usually so? Does that go away with wear and patina? The boots are great so far but I honestly very much dislike the glossiness of the cxl when it's new.

Hi Tek. I recently bought my first pair of Viberg boots after watching your review. Mine are in shell cordovan on the Lactae Hevea sole. They are indeed very comfortable and lighter than many of my boots (Alden, Tricker’s, Grant Stone). I’m about to buy a second pair on a similarly unique sole (burlap) but then got worried about the trouble it will take to replace the sole when the time comes. Although with how many boots I have (not nearly as many as yours), I doubt I will wear out my soles. Are you confident that when you eventually have to replace the soles on your Viberg boots, there’ll be someone in your city who can deal with the stitchdown construction?

Just to take note. Viberg stopped taking on resole work for their service boots and refers people to Bakers. I’ve had more than one pair resoled at excellent cobblers/cordwainers and they all then to charge more due to the high spi. They have to be hand sewn for best results. Still love them but ymmv on long term upkeep.

over 800 usd now... I'm US. Went a full size down. Boot was too big. I found this on the web: Does Viberg fit true to size? A correct Viberg size often will be one (1) to one-and-a-half (1.5) sizes down from a US Brannock device measurement or sneaker size, and either a half (. 5) to one (1) size down from other US boot manufacturers like Alden or Red Wing.

Been tempted by the Viberg SB and White's MP lately....but just couldn't justify the price, even used on ebay in the $400 range. I already feel pretty great in my Grant Stones, Higgins Mill, etc. Whites seems to justify their price better than Viberg, IMO. Viberg seems a luxury fashion piece, but with significantly less of the social signaling & recognition that the wearing demographic seeks out compared to other items (such as watches). This leads me to a tangent and sad truth...these boots are depreciating assets. I've justified luxury watches simply based on their ability to retain value. But boots? I agree with you Teik, the only thing that really matters is how you feel. And not meaning to change anyone's mind here, just for me at ~$750 and above they have to be checking some serious and unique boxes that GS, RW, AE, Parkhurst, etc. don't check...and I don't know what those boxes would be; they must be more than simply tighter stitch density (which my GS would give a run for their money I think...looks pretty close).
@BB-gl7zt

Your comment was well said and alot of us has to double think about a viberg boots , is it the name that brings the price to close to 900 , it's a beautiful boot but to me it does not check the boxes , so I have to stick with GS , Truman and whites , viberg is not 400 to 500 dollars better than those .

I won't say over hype , viberg and alden was the hype and deserving so many years ago and both at this present time still think today is the same as yesteryear which is not the case , today we have much more boot makers who offers equal to maybe better at a much better price . Hopefully both would wakeup and realize that today there's competition and smart people do see that .
