To be fair they did come back within 2 years but it was all DnB / in conjunction with Sidewinder. Totally different vibe, with a very different crowd. Helter Skelter's ended in '99

The Helter Skelter we all know and loved ended on that Millenium night, and to be honest nothing was the same after that. Those 5 years between 95 and 2000 were golden years for raving.... Unbelievable even. Clubs pretty much took over after then, and there were good club nights Dance Academy anyone? But Skelter was unique!!

Now then. Got the tape pack, always wondered tho what were the difficulties this night.... Up n down the country?

@@AngryBulldogg A lot of the top DJ's were charging obscene amounts of ££££ to play on the millennium eve, as were the venues, and if I remember correctly at least one big event got cancelled right at the last minute. Specific for Helter Skelter, they were charging £100 for a ticket for this event (previous nights were normally around £25). Due to the steep price they didnt sell enough tickets, and so a lot of DJ's didnt attend and they didnt open the Rollers arena either, meaning we were all crammed into the Sanctuary. I always thought Dave Pratleys little speech at the end of the night was to try and deflect a little from their own cock-ups that night!!

@@AngryBulldogg No worries! Yeah they had 2 arenas roughly the same size (The Sanctuary arena and The Rollers) but didnt open the Rollers so everyone was packed into here. They took a real hit on ticket sales which I dont think they were expecting, meaning they had to scale back on acts they booked too. Considering how amazing their nights usually were, it was a real anticlimax to their last event of the century, considering we paid 4 x the normal ticket costs, for less acts and less floor space. Ah well
