@@ExcessCongruence nah it's definitely in contention. Right there with Wire, Breaking Bad and Sopranos. So many just underrate this show but in reality it's right there with the top shows.
@@thomasdemay9805 Absolutely. It was raw, intense and realistic. No show had me at the edge of my seat during every episode, not even the Wire or Breaking Bad. I guess some people just have different tastes.
@@TheFailedmessiah I know. It's nothing but censorship based on emotions. I'd be embarrassed to even admit that a bloody TV show hurts my feelings. There's nothing more pathetic and weak, than getting offended by insignificant things. They're all so desperate to be victims, but they wouldn't last a day as an actual victim of anything. It's all fair and well, if they want to act like idiots, but why ruin everything for the rest of us? Pathetic attention seekers. As you can tell, I find these SJWs extremely obnoxious. Mostly because they are very responsible for the degradation of society today.
@@gin.gefilms hell yeah man I was thinking about Raylan as well, but agreed that Hood is closer to Mackey. If you liked Banshee check out Strike Back seasons 2-5, Scott and Stonebridge are great characters and it has some great shooting action. The hand to hand sucks though, thankfully there's not too much of it. The first season was a British production exclusively and was a much different show.
Fun fact, the Smith and Wesson third generation of semi automatic pistols, has a magazine disconnect. This means that when there is a magazine, not inserted into the gun the trigger mechanism is disengaged and the weapon will not fire. 😂
Not that I’m disputing this, I’m no expert on firearms, especially mechanisms but does that also work dependent on the weapons condition. Slide already racked with one in the chamber- with no magazine would the trigger still operate or not?
@osiris8637 Yes, some guns are made so that even with a round chambered the gun will not fire. Theory being if someone is trying to take your gun from you, dump the mag and it won't fire
@kcamroccamian I'd say it's on the bluff side. Not to say criminals can't be smart but Vick probably assumed that the crew didn't know much about firearms so they wouldn't know he was bluffing
There's never going to be another show like the shield and there's never going to be another character like Vic Mackey. Until society grows a set of balls and quit being so soft at the very least.
I think you're missing the point of the character. He is extremism. Ends justify means. Someone does this shit on you, your life goes straight to shit and you don't get a way out. And he laughs while he does it.
@@napalmstickylikeglue Smith and Wesson model 640 .38 pre lock model. To be honest,I would probably carry a Walther PPK .380 or a Glock 26 as my backup gun
The Shield did have a little bit of episodic " fat " that could have been cut without impinging on the shows arc, but BB had a few whole episodes that really didn't add anything to the series narrative.
The Sopranos is the greatest show of all time. The Shield has the greatest television ending of all time. Breaking Bad has the greatest episode of all time
vince gilligan had so much influence in breaking bad ranging from the sopranos the wire dexter and especially the shield “this is not meth” is directly influenced by this scene good shit🤜🤛💯
There's never been anything close to The Shield. NYPD Blue, Narcos, Sopranos, Yellowstone, Better Call Saul and others all excellent. All those shows were TV Heroin. Shield was next level Fentanyl.
