The Word, 19/11/1993 - Vic & Bob promote Smell Series 1 on the shambolic nonsense that was the Word. Not my copyright, just found ephemera. Had to cut out 'the Hopefuls', which I'm sure Channel 4 are particularly proud of :D
When asked how they decided on Mark Lamarr for Shooting Stars Bob Mortimer said that they went on the word and spoke to Mark and he said 'We're getting sacked from this program tomorrow' so they said that they were doing a new thing and he should come and be involved. Bob said similarly that they probably saw Ulrika on tv at the same time and thought 'she seems up for a laugh' and their decisions were as random as that.
The 90s doesn't feel like it's in the past but ten years in the future. Has a distinctly dystopian vibe to it akin to Brasil / Fahenheit 451 / Hunger Games.
Look at that backdrop lol when I think of 90s tv thats the kind of thing that comes to mind. Random as fuck having Vic, Bob and Dave Chappelle.. just a weird line-up
I thought they were shite for a long time, but comparing it to modern days I do miss them. I was born in the late 80s so I remember pretty much all of the 90s. Weird times, especially in Belfast. Shooting Stars on TV, Oasis on the radio and British soldiers on the streets. The good ol days.
Jeez the standard of tv interviews back in the day compared to now was so piss poor watching this u wonder where Mark Lamarr's head was while interviewing them
It was all that cutting away to show random irrelevant shite, they barely let people talk and when they did the questions were crap, made it all a bit awkward
Mark lamar was too clever for these so called artists that’s why most people didn’t like him these artists when exposed were completely exposed as pricks nice one mark
