Why? He was there for a reason. Having watched several Stars episodes being recorded it was blindingly obvious they were doing the shows coz they were easy. Bob was generally pissed, as were guests. They needed someone to fill in a few minutes with their turn ;)
not having a pop at them ..i used to watch them years ago ..think how the hell did they think of it all ..i thought they did all the material for the entire show george's songs the lot . .still love the show even now
They have always saved room on Shooting Stars for other, at the time, up and coming comics to do their own thing. Matt Lucas, Johnny Vegas, Rhys Thomas and Dan Skinner were all given time to do their own material. I suppose you would have to ask them why but I guess the answer would be because it makes the show funnier.
